Invoice template - Control formatting of Amount due and Due date
The new fallback invoice template looks fantastic and is a big improvement overall. However, the due date and invoice date fields appear extremely bold and, oddly, use inconsistent font sizes even though they are side by side. This makes the dates stand out more than intended and looks unprofessional, especially since the rest of the template is so clean and well-designed.
It would be great to have the option to adjust the font size and weight specifically for these date fields, or at least ensure they match the rest of the template’s font settings. This would help maintain a consistent, professional appearance for invoices sent to clients.
Hi team, we appreciate the feedback we've received from customers about the Amount Due and Due date sizing with the new invoice template editor.
Taking this on board our team did recently release a change to reduce the size of this text.
We're keen for your continued feedback here on if this change has had an impact for your business, for product's continued consideration of future improvements. Thanks

We do not want our customers to see the top line 'Amount Due' figure as an including VAT figure. Any B2B invoicing should first show the non-VAT price.
It makes the first impression seem expensive. it was absolutely fine as it was, please change it back or give us the option to change it ourselves.
You will lose customers over this and we will likely be one of them. -

Not nearly good enough
1. Due date was absolutely fine where it was before
2. Amount due doesn't need to be there
3. Issue date, what's wrong with invoice dateXero does some great stuff, but this new invoice layout is unnecessary and seems to have been done for no specific reason.

@Bronwyn Telford: you should be able to remove the QR code. Go to Invoice settings, click on "New Branding Theme", Select "Content", there is a toggle button for QR Code, just turn it off. I am attaching screen snips for ease of reference. I happened upon this the other day while trying to see how I could make our invoices look slightly more presentable.

The change is better but still unprofessional, aggressive and inconsistent. Different industries require different branding. We are an engineering firm whose brand requires precision. Varying fonts in a line are the opposite of precision. We desperately need to be able to change this font to be consistent and not have it dictated to us. We also need the option to remove the QR code. We deal with large firms, where no invoice is looked at on a phone. Also the thick line at the bottom of the page in unnecessary and uses more ink than customers want to pay for.

A mere tickle only. Please - make this title line an editable feature, in line with the rest of the template. We're still stuck with the table thumping tone showing an over-prominent invoice total & due date the actual invoice body. Why do we, your subscribers, not have a choice as to whether we accept this as an invoice title, or at least the option to change the order so the issue date & reference read first or with more prominence?
This presentation absolutely jars with our ethos. As a result, we are compelled to apologize to customers for the unwelcome new tone quite out of kilter with years of hard-earned customer mutual co-operation. Come on Xero - please hear that no one likes it, especially in the UK!

Kelly, as community manager, what about the excessive use of ink and black lines on the invoice? Why is there a huge black bar at the bottom of the printed invoice page? Many customers still want a print out of their invoices and we'd ideally have Xero remove that huge black bar and the ultra thick / bold text to reduce ink wastage. Excessive ink use should be considered by Xero as companies using your platform are trying our best to reduce environmental impact where possible, even if small actions. Can Xero please not merge our full complaints into a chat that only talked about font size as there are many issues with your current invoice template, not just font size. Much appreciated, we look forward to all of this being fixed asap. We appreciate Xero wants people to use the QR code payment as well so you can earn additional fees but many customers still prefer bank transfer as they should. Also in Australia merchants (businesses) are now covering the processing fees of card transactions so again, you need to make sure bank transfer invoicing is still fairly set out and the bold areas are reduced along with the huge font sizing. Just clean it up, make it less aggressive so our customers don't feel like they are being hounded. Xero gets paid quite high fees as default so you can afford to dial back the invoicing template to make it actually useful and friendly.

I can't agree more. The varying font sized looks truly awful (so unprofessional) and a very strange choice for order - with no ability to change - Not great in a B2B environment, particularly for manual data entry at the recipient end, which should be a consideration. One font please. If you must have a summary - Invoice number, Invoice date , due date, amount.

The new layout is a nightmare for processing on the customer side. The due date is too prominent. It doesn't need the amount due on the top left. The invoice number is too small.
The default for the VAT information is also not right in my opinion. The line amounts should be net of VAT not gross as a default.
Interestingly my October invoice from Xero has reverted to the old template -

New update on invoices is good overall but i have an issue:
There is no need for the amount due to be written on the invoice twice once is enough to tell the customer. There is no option to remove or amend this.
The above item should be amended and allow the user to decide whether they want it on their invoice or not

The new layout is awful, no idea who came up with it.
The font size it dreadful, the due date is huge, amount due why is that there?
Issue date, what's wrong with invoice date.Where is the limited company reg number, full registered company name and registered office address at the bottom of the invoice. Noting that limited companies may have a different registered office address to the trading address

Another like it or lump it change forced up on your paying customers, give us the option to edit our layouts as we see fit.

This 'new experience' is just as awful as other changes you've foisted on your users. The suggestion that there was 'a lot of testing....' gives no confidence without context - what is 'a lot' and who was involved? Given that there are 816 'new ideas' associated with invoicing - and we know you stop commenting when the numbers build - it seems unlikely that Xero actually checked with genuine small business users. Again.

I fail to understand how Xero just ignores the wishes of its customers. The new invoice template is simply terrible. It looks like a young child set it up. It looks unprofessional and we (South Africa) currently cannot edit.
The feedback from Xero "we don't have immediate plans of change" is quite arrogant, given the fact that we are your paying customers. Therefore, we should be able to demand and not be dictated to.
ALSO, the credit note template has not changed, so it looks like we don't know what we are doing. Our customers continue complaining and we are at a loss as to what to say to them. Xero needs to resolve this urgently.
I truly don't know who your test audience for these changes was, but it would seem it was not your actual paying customers.

I agree wholeheartedly with all the below comments. I am new to Xero and have had some challenges trying to add and remove things example the customers vat number needs to show but your heading Tax Number I can't take out to replace with VAT No. so my invoice shows tax and vat number.
My main mission was to find a way to make the amount due and due date smaller, even possibly take out the amount due as this is obvious on the invoice total amount. Also issue date is also not important on a tax invoice. Please give us an option to edit this tax invoice to take out some of these unnecessary headings and to make due date/amount due smaller as it does not look professional as it stands out in contrast to the smaller font for issue date etc -

Xero team please listen to your customers.
Our company is literally apologising to clients over this invoice template. It is absolute garbage and unprofessional. Please reduce the bold text and the size of the font or give us an in-Xero option to format our own invoices. The amount we pay for Xero this should be a default feature for all businesses to make their own invoice templates to suit their needs. If you can't figure it out, bolt on an AI invoice template generator and allow it to save to templates within Xero. Please do something about this guys as it's very clear your community hates the new invoice template and it's hurting business. This may be your most urgent task in Xero by now? It's also seen in multiple separate threads, not just this thread.
The DocX and other mentioned 'work arounds' do not work for many businesses if they don't use MS software etc etc. Xero needs to fix this within its own program and do so urgently.
When we read 'We don't have immediate plans of change' it tells us the Xero dev team totally has its eye off the ball.

I agree with the many posts that express that the new invoice layout with glaring invoice amount and due date is tacky and unprofessional. We are a medical practice and this is not in keeping with our aesthetic or that of any traditional style business. Modern is fine, but there is no need to have such a bold and desperate AMOUNT and DUE DATE. I have had to develop a new invoice version using the docx option though this is not ideal. Would request another option of a contemporary corporate invoice without the oversized bold elements.

I am so glad to see that I am not the only one who disliked the new Invoice layout, it looks absolutely awful and tacky. I have been happy with the old style for over 10 years and feel it did not need to change. You response saying that most people like it seems to be false. Please remember customer feed back is important and should be listened to.
