AU Payroll - Recording TOIL hours worked as part of timesheet entry
It would be beneficial for an employee to record all hours worked in the timesheet including hours to be allocated as TOIL Accrual
i.e. employee works 35 hours, 30 hours ordinary and 5 hours to TOIL accrual?
Then when the employees wishes to take the TOIL, they submit a Leave Request as per existing functionality.
Currently the employee needs to separately notify payroll regarding hours worked to be allocated to TOIL Accrual. And this doesn't go through the Supervisor Timesheet Approval process.
Hi everyone, thanks for your input on this idea. We can see it's been a while since we've provided you with an update do just wanted to let you know how it's going.
We've reviewed this idea and have moved it to Gaining Support status.
Whilst this idea isn't currently on our product team's roadmap, we're monitoring the activity and will keep you updated on the way.

We currently use a spreadsheet to track TOIL for rostered days off. Having to rely on two records can lead to errors, and does not allow visibility of TOIL calculations for our team.

We need a function that Automatically records a percentage or fixed time per day for an employees hours so it can populate an RDO leave section without having to manually enter in the value and rely on the employee to enter the data and the bookkeeper to manually enter the hours into the leave section when doing payroll
This will make the process automatic and streamline workflow

Yes there should be a way to add ADHOC accrued TOIL hours to Xero without manually updating Opening Balances for TOIL.
Currently pay advice reporting in Xero Me is confusing employees because updating Opening balance changes the TOIL balances on all pay advices making it harder for them to balance TOIL entries. -

Currently I have setup the accrual in timesheets so at least it can be reported by employee, then before approving have to delete that line from the timesheet an manuually accrue it in the payrun.
Definately need an option to be able to record directly from timesheets -

We also need this function
Staff enter timesheets with overtime worked and then the accrual is calculated
Instead, the accrual is synced to the pay run as an earnings line
Or a function to turn off the timesheet syncing so that we can easily manipulate the data? -

Totally agree here too the auto overide does not allow for permanent staff on wages to record over time or time in lieu affectively... Really need a solution..

I can't believe more people have not voted for this - I wonder how many subscriptions don't use payroll due to it not having this feature.

Our employees gain TOIL and we would like to be able to track it through Xero. Ideally, we would like a way for the employee to submit TOIL they have ACCRUED for approval through Xero.
I know we can add it in manually and they can request to TAKE TOIL but I would like to be able to have a way for them to submit the accrual for approval as well. -

Yes, link Time off in Lieu earned timesheet entries to the employees' Time off in Lieu leave balance in the employee record. Other systems have functionality to do this, linking timesheet entries to the employees TOIL leave balance in the employee card instead of it having to be manually updated. From an audit point of view & eradicating human data entry errors. Initially you can create a "Time Off in Lieu Earned" Earnings entry in your Pay Items under Payroll settings for your timesheet entry (google "how to set up time off in lieu [xero]"), & then hopefully Xero can automatically transfer any timesheet entries against this to the TOIL leave balance for the employee once the timesheet has been approved. Hey presto, done...would be amazzzzing!

Do you manually have to add in the time off in lieu leave accural hours?
Is there a way for it to accrue at x1 the number of overtime (time off in lieu) hours? -

I have Toil accrued as a pay item with $0 payment.
Then Toil as a leave item
Any amounts from timesheets to Toil Accrued Pay item are manually allocated to Toil Accrued leave accrual. -

The current option available for updating the time in lieu of XERO is to previously inform the fixed number of hours that will be added to the leave balance in the leave register. However, the number of hours varies each week, so I cannot predict in advance how many hours each employee will work.
My suggestion includes an automatic update from the time in lieu of using a timesheet. Thus reducing the probability of errors by entering the balance manually.

Toil is an award/Agreement function and is a required item running two records can lead to errors and problems.
