  1. Ability to import the number of days of annual leave/other leave taken per employee for the month. It is very time consuming to manually add the leave taken for each employee when completing the payroll each month.

Hi team. We can see it's been a while since we've provided you with an update about this idea. Looks like it's steadily Gaining Support.

Whilst this idea isn't currently on our product team's roadmap, we're monitoring the activity and will keep you updated as we go.

  2. I would like the payroll reports to be able to be sorted by first name or last name. I sue them for a number of reporting requirements with third parties and it would make it so much easier if I was able to do this.

Hey everyone! It's been insightful reading through your comments on filtering payroll reports by both first and last name.

Our product team have reviewed this idea and agree it's an idea they would like to develop, but it isn't currently on the roadmap.

In the meantime, as mentioned by some of you you'll need to export the data to work with outside of Xero. We understand this may be an extra step and appreciate this feature could improve efficiency for a variety of situations.

We'll keep you updated as things progress. Your continued input helps us understand the priority and impact of features like this one.

  3. To be able to enter and start and finish times on the time sheets on Xero me and login for staff, save miscaluculation on hours.

Hey team, we’re grateful for all of the engagement this idea has received. We understand that adding start and end times to timesheets would greatly improve payroll accuracy and record-keeping.

As noted by many of you, this feature is available in the AU version of Payroll, but there is no direct workaround for this in UK Payroll.

I'm pleased to let you know we're moving this idea to In discovery, which means our product team is reviewing the viability of this feature. This is an important step as we explore what it would take to bring this functionality to UK Payroll.

We'll keep you updated on any developments.

Hi everyone, thank you for your feedback on NI savings in pension calculations. We appreciate you sharing how you’re currently managing these contributions when processing salary sacrifice schemes.

We understand many of you are using spreadsheets and manual workarounds to add these additional employer contributions to the payslip.

Our product team has reviewed this request and moved it to Accepted so that it can be considered in future planning cycles. Although it isn't currently on the immediate roadmap, we'll keep you updated as things progress.

  5. Integration of all employee leave taken with a shared calendar in outlook or calendar in Xero itself that everyone can view to see who is on leave and when.

  6. The witholding variation should be on top of the existing PAYG calculation not overrides it, as it currently does. If an employee completes a MyGov employee Tax Form and notes they want an additional % amount variation withheld - it should be on top of their existing PAYG tax, not instead of it. There is no other option to put in a percentage amount in XERO.

Or allow the upward variation amount to be a percentage amount - not just a fixed amount.

The screenshot attached shows this employee should be paying tax on the full amount (no threshold claimed)…

Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on this. We appreciate you sharing how important it is to be able to add an additional percentage on top of PAYG.

As you’re aware, you can increase the amount of tax withheld each pay, however the figure must be a fixed amount.

We understand some of you have been using workarounds like manual calculations or withholding variations, which create challenges if employees earnings are not fixed.

While this feature isn't currently on our roadmap, we've updated this idea to Accepted, so that it’s up for formal consideration.

We're grateful for your continued input as it helps us understand what matters.

  7. Leavers can only access payslips 14 days after leave date. 14 days is not enough time as the final pay ay not have been processed at this time. So final payslips then becomes a manual process. If P45's could also be accessed that would be great.

Thanks for sharing your idea, we understand sometimes employees need access to payslips beyond 14 days after their leaving date.

We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

Along with votes, other members can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero.

  8. When adding a new employee record, allow me to 'create new superannuation' during the process of creating their new record. Currently when adding a new employee record, I need to navigate away from the employee record to 'Settings > Payroll Settings > Superannuation' to add a new superannuation relationship. On the new employee record, when the pop up appears for superannuation, if you could add a spot to say 'Create New relationship' or something under the employee record - I'll buy you a beer.

  10. With separating the All purpose allowances. Is there going to be a selection for SICK LEAVE and RDO in the future? (Currently Contributes to Annual and Overtime) only. There is a lot of room for error when you have 50 employees and you have manually adjusted the rate for every single employee!! I'm sure we are not the only company that has RDO and Sick Leave where the all-purpose allowances need to be included in the base rate. Could you please Add this option to the allowances pay item. We are unable to continue with STIP Phase 2 unless this…

Hi everyone, thanks for all of your engagement with this idea. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on being able to claim previous year's employment allowances in Xero.

We understand this would save time and provide a more complete payroll solution.

As noted by others in this thread, the current workaround is to process prior year claims using HMRC's Basic PAYE Tools.

We've reviewed our upcoming development roadmap, and at this time building the functionality to process prior year Employment Allowance claims is not in our immediate pipeline.

We will keep this idea under consideration for future development, and should our plans change, we will provide an update here.

  12. Set the default time method for timesheets.

Allow the payroll admin to set the default method for all employees to capture the timesheet details. EG set all employees to use only the time in and time out method not the hours method.

Hi there, we appreciate you raised this a little while ago, so just wanted to touch base with an update. This idea isn't something our product team have plans for in the near future. However they'll continue monitoring this idea and we'll reach out if the idea is added to the product road map in the future.

  13. Streamlining " Multiple of Employee's Ordinary Earnings Rate" .
I have a client who has 14 employees and 4 Ordinary Earnings Rate for each employee as their business trades 7 days a week. Each Employee is on a different Ordinary Earnings Rate. The current system on Xero requires you to create and select Multiple of employees ordinary earnings rate in the payroll settings and calculate and enter the multiplier % for each earnings rate for each employee in order for the ordinary earnings rate to be calculated and for the annual leave and carers/personal leave to be calculated. This is…

Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on this idea. We appreciate you sharing how important accurate leave accruals are for managing payroll when employees work at different rates across various days or departments.

While we aren't able to add this to our roadmap right now, we want to make sure you are aware that it is currently possible to set up leave to accrue on more than one earnings rate.

As mentioned in this thread, the key is to set the Rate Type for these additional items to "Multiple of Employee's Ordinary Earnings Rate".

Please refer to our support article Set up overtime or earnings that accrue leave for a guide on how to do this. We'll keep this thread active for future feedback.

  15. Please add an opening balance for the Working Holiday Maker tax rate

When a Working Holiday Maker (WHM) reaches the earning threshold of $45000 they must be taxed 32.5% (instead of 15% prior to $45K per financial year). When an employee is set up in Xero as a WHM this tax calculation is automatic as along as the full $45K was earned with the current employer. If the employee has earned $45K prior to starting with a new employer Xero will calculate the WHM tax as 15% instead of 32.5% and there is no option to set an opening balance.…

Thanks to everyone following this idea. We understand how being able to import and export pay items would positively impact your review processes.

Though this isn’t currently in the roadmap, we see the value this’d bring in regards to pay award updates. We’ve updated the idea status to accepted and we’ll share any future developments, here. Your input in idea’s is always appreciated.

  17. Need to be able to remove a leave type for employees. Ie an employee is entitled to 4 weeks annual leave p.a.. They have renegotiated their contract and are now entitled to 5 weeks AL p.a. I've set up a new leave type to accrue 5 weeks p.a. for this employee and asked that they use this option when submitting future requests. I have changed the AL 4 week code to No Calculation for this employee, however it still appears as an option when they request leave. I would like to remove this as an option because they continually inadvertently…

Thanks for taking the time to share this idea about being able to remove leave categories that are no longer used or were assigned incorrectly.

At the moment, there isn’t a way to fully archive or delete a leave type. If the leave type has never been used for that employee, you can remove it from their record. If the leave type has been used or has a balance, you’ll need to edit the balance and stop it from accruing going forward.

Your idea is formally logged here in Product Ideas. it’s up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues who could benefit from this so they can add their vote too!

  18. Suggestions:

The Payroll /Or Payrun system can also be currency optional

Companies are becoming more international. The online office model is not limited to the workplace, and salaries will be paid in different currencies. This is probably going to be a trend.

    We appreciate the input and interest this idea has received overtime. However as you may have recently received word - We’re making some changes to Global Pay Run to help you manage your payroll more effectively;

    - From 23 July 2025 Global Pay Run will become read-only. You'll still be able to see all your past payroll information, however you will not be able to process any new pay runs after this date.

    - Global Pay run will be retired after April 2026, at which point you'll no longer be able to access pay run.

This also means that we don't have any plans for further development of our Global Pay Run product, and will move any ideas related to this on this site to Not planned.

If you're from a region where we offer dedicated payroll products (AU, NZ and UK) specifically designed for your regions unique requirements,…

  19. Would really like the option to have a second layer to approve leave. I am a HR Manager and find it hard when the manager approves leave verbally and I do not get notified until later. I would like to see the option for HR or Finance to get a notification or get the option to approve prior to the manager so we can manage the employee leave status.

Hi there, we appreciate you raised this a little while ago. Sending leave to multiple approvers isn't something we have plans for in the near term, so we've moved the status to Not in Pipeline. If it’s still highly valuable to you, welcome to start it again and see if it gets renewed interest.

If gaining visibility over upcoming leave is important to your organisation however, we can point you in the direction of another Xero Product Ideas that our product team are currently looking into:

AU Payroll - Permission - Function to allow leave authorisers to view Leave Calendar

If this is something that would be useful for your organisation, feel free to add your vote and you'll receive updates as things progress.

  20. Currently you are able to select the tax scale Horticultural/Shearers but there is no default tax rate attached. Apparently if employee falls under this scale you need to select for reporting to ATO which means you have to then manually calculate tax when you do the pays which is not possible if you have multiple employees knowing which employee wants what rate as they all do not use the default. This also leads to errors if not picked up it doesnt calculate automatically. May I suggest that we urgently attention to have the default ATO tax scale rate included with…
