AU Payroll - Add Parental leave pay item
Have a paid parental leave pay item so that a balance can be input and 'drawn down' on. The employee and the employer have clear visibility on how much time has been taken and how much is left.
Since STP PH2 compliance has come in, paid parental leave has just become an earnings pay item and not a leave pay item.
The workaround of running the Payroll Activity Summary or Transaction Listing Summary report to keep track of the earnings processed for the employee, is onerous and not available to the employee.

AU Payroll - Support for prorated salary
I had a situation recently where we increased an employees salary but they wanted to reduce their working hours by 80%. The salary is based on 1 FTE. There is no way to actually do this in Xero Payroll. If I put the FTE salary in (to recognise the actual approved salary increase) and set working hours to 8 hours a day 4 days per week the 1 FTE salary is paid out in full over the year. But it should only be 80% of that. So I had to enter 80% of FTE and reduce the actual work hours…

UK Payroll - Smart Pension Integration
Integration between Xero Payroll and Smart Pension would be great!

UK Payroll - Calculate pension contributions on pre-SMP earnings
Employer pension contributions for employees on SMP should be calculated on the employee's earnings before they went on leave, not on the reduced rate of 90%. Xero's calculation is currently on the latter with no option to overwrite. The correct calculation would be first choice, but the option to change figures would be helpful also

AU Payroll - Track and approve work from home requests through Xero Me
In order to track and approve "Working from Home" requests it would be useful if Xero would enable pay item ("Working from Home") to be created that would function in the same manner as a leave category but was not leave (i.e. would not be reported to the Tax Office as a type of leave).
That way employees could apply to work from home, as they do annual leave, and approved working from home hours would automatically appear on the leave calendar.5 votesHi there, we appreciate you raised this a little while ago. This isn't something we have plans for in the near term.

AU Payroll - Show employee's last pay period figures in current draft pay run
Ability to show or report the variances/differences between the draft payrun and the prior period payrun.
This would save a huge amount of time going through each payslip to ensure the usual pay is being processed and nothing has been accidentally added or missed.
Especially when you have a large number of employees.3 votesHi there, we appreciate you raised this a little while ago. This isn't something we have plans for in the near term. We can also suggest as a workaround that you update employees pay templates with their usual pay so that it is automatically included in the pay run.
We’ll soon remove this from Product ideas. If it’s still highly valuable to you, welcome to start it again and see if it gets renewed interest.

NZ Payroll - Timesheets - Approve and view next option
When entering information on time sheets for employees, the ability to hit "next" to move onto the next employee once you have approved the time sheet rather than having to go back out to the main timesheet menu, find the appropriate timesheet on the drop down list & go back in to enter the timesheet for the next employee.

AU Payroll - Payroll Activity report to show leave entitlements in draft pay runs
Before posting a payroll, when you run the "Payroll Activity" report, include the leave entitlements about to be posted not just the pay items.
So when you download a report to do a final check before posting payroll you can check ALL payroll activity not just half of it !
2 votesHi Kristen, appreciate you sharing in product ideas here. While this isn't something we have plans for I wanted to confirm you can currently check leave accruals by clicking on the employee's payslip prior to posting the pay run.
Once the pay run's posted, before it's filed, you could run the report and find any issues, and revert it back to draft to make changes if necessary.

AU Payroll - Bulk add pay items to pay template or default to standard pay template
The ability to be able to multiple select earnings types when setting up the employee template.
Also with the ability to select Calculation Type - either Use Earnings Rate or Enter Rate.
If selecting 'Enter Rate' this can be input after the earnings lines are available - like usual.

AU Payroll - Annual salary on pay slip to include allowances and additional earnings rates
Including additional earnings rates in the annual salary display. At the moment it only includes ordinary hours and has confused some of our emplyees.

AU Payroll - Option to split base rate and casual loading items
Please give us the option to split the base rate and casual loading items WHILE working with a timesheet. At the moment this has be manually done in every pay run if we want to show the loading separately.

UK Payroll - Holiday balance on final payslip
When an employee leaves, it would be really useful for Xero to calculate how much leave they have left or have over used and then calculate and add/deduct the value from the final payslip. Currently, I have had to do the calculations manually, and then I add to add the holiday to the payslip and change his departure date to cover the leave period - a bit of a messy fudge.

NZ Payroll - 63 day holiday report
This is required at year end. Annual leave owing at balance date but paid within 63 days after balance date is tax deductible in that balance date year.

AU Payroll - Recording TOIL hours worked as part of timesheet entry
It would be beneficial for an employee to record all hours worked in the timesheet including hours to be allocated as TOIL Accrual
i.e. employee works 35 hours, 30 hours ordinary and 5 hours to TOIL accrual?
Then when the employees wishes to take the TOIL, they submit a Leave Request as per existing functionality.Currently the employee needs to separately notify payroll regarding hours worked to be allocated to TOIL Accrual. And this doesn't go through the Supervisor Timesheet Approval process.

AU Payroll - All purpose Allowance tied into rate/over-time/loading, but on payslip show allowance portion as separate lines
STP2 - Splitting allowances for all purpose from the hourly rate
We have employees with all purpose allowances - ie it forms part of the base hourly rate and extrapolates in to overtime rates and annual leave loading. I now have to take it out of the rate and pay as separate line items including overtime and annual leave multipliers.
Is Xero in their pay templates going to make changes to say have a tick box to indicate an add on allowance to the rate so regardless of the pay lines (that are set up as such) they multiply they…

UK Payroll - Pension enrollment and calculation to occur prior to posting the pay run.
Payroll doesn’t calculate pension until after you submit the payroll/RTI, so you don’t know what the actual net payments are until submitted. Try explaining to a client that what they signed off isn’t what they actual pay.
39 votesThanks for this feedback on how pension enrollment currently works in Xero payroll. It’s been a little while since you raised this idea, so we wanted to check in. We can see this idea has been steadily gaining support. Our product team are keeping an eye on this idea and we will continue to share updates as things evolve.
In the meantime, here's a tip to trigger pension assessment before posting the pay run:
- With the pay run in draft click Post.
- When the Automatic pension enrolment pop up displays, click Confirm.
- On the Complete Pay Run pop up, click Cancel.
- You can now open the draft payslip or download pay run reports with the pension deductions included.

AU Payroll - Automatically accrue RDO hours
Automatically accrue RDO hours after a certain amount of hours logged.
Job management systems push 80 hours over as a timesheet in Xero.
We would like the total combined hours logged (ordinary hours, annual leave, RDOs, personal leave and public holidays) in excess of 76 hours to automatically be converted to RDO hours.
E.g: If I log 80 hours ordinary time, I accrue 4 hours RDO.
E.g: If I log 78 hours ordinary time, I accrue 2 hours RDO.
E.g: If I log 80 hours annual leave, I accrue 4 hours RDO.
E.g: If I log 72 hours ordinary time…40 votesJust wanted to touch base regarding this idea as it's been a while since we've posted an update.

UK Payroll - Support for HSBC BACS payment files without a service user name
Add a template another file option for payroll. HSBCnet allows file uploads with a SUN however as Xero does not have this template it means only options is to apply for a SUN and increase costs of paying our payroll. We need a file that accommodates ACH CR BACs (non-SUN) files. Requirement is Xero payroll ERP configure the file without a SUN then please ask them to do so, as it should be identical to the one we have tested for supplier payments, meaning the word ‘HSBC’ should be quoted on the VOL1 line and the areas where the SUN…
10 votesHi everyone, thanks for providing your thoughts on this idea. We appreciate you sharing how important different payment files are as some banks don't accept the file exported from Xero.
You might have seen from a related idea that our product team is currently testing a new feature to allow direct wage payments from Xero payroll.
While this is not exactly what you’re suggesting, an integrated payment feature would defeat the need for manual payment file exports. We'll be back to share more updates on this.

AU Payroll - Bulk delete/mark inactive pay items.
Bulk delete/mark inactive pay items. We use deputy Awards integration and every time an award is updated we have to delete/inactivate so many pay items.

Employee - Merge Function
I cannot believe that there is no merge function for duplicated employees. Most payroll systems have this function. The error occurred between integration with time and attendance software and Xero.
