Payroll Activity Details (AU) - Date column to be added back
There has always been a date column - add it back - why mess with something that has been used for so many years. Absolutely so desruptive to our professional services.
1 voteHiya Simona, sorry for not updating you on this sooner.
Shortly after the release of the new report our team made a change based on feedback, so the report now shows Employee name and Date as separate columns, and the columns will be included when running the report by default.

60 votesHi everyone, thanks for your patience. We have now rolled out an enhanced Employee Contact Details report.
This new report includes additional columns such as DOB, Start & Termination dates, and Employment Groups.
We hope this report helps you with managing your workflows.
Thanks again for supporting this idea and being the voice of change.

AU Payroll - Edit export of STP Finalisation
Would be great if we could have a tidier and shorter one (selecting what you want) rather then the CSV file
8 votesHiya all, thanks for your interest in this idea. An update our team have made in Xero Payroll makes reconciling payroll much simpler. You can now see key payroll totals in the Finalisation screen, and you'll also find you have access to an organisation finalisation report that includes totals, which can be exported to PDF format. 😊

UK Payroll - Auto updates for national Insurance category (NI)
It would be great if Xero could implement an automatic change/suggestion to change to category A after an H-category employee doesn't meet the criteria anymore.
One of our employees just had his birthday and I noticed the category doesn't automatically update and there's no flag to say they might now be ineligible for a certain code.
I imagine there are more companies with the same problem where it's gone unnoticed that the National Insurance Category hasn't automatically updated as nearly everything else does and it's easy to miss a birthday!164 votesHi community, we've rolled out a change to Xero Payroll (UK), and now Xero will automatically apply the new NI category to a pay run based on an employees birthdate, and if they are entering into a new NI category. Meaning you no longer have to manually track and updates these.
We appreciate all your contributions and letting us know how valuable this feature is for you. 😊

UK Payroll: Report on employee age
With ever changing minimum wage requirements (UK only) which are based on an employees age it would be useful to be able to have a 'one pager' report that lists the employee name and the current age. Their age is data which is already in Xero as part of the employee profile. A report would be useful to help payroll staff check who needs to move onto new wages / salaries based on age groups.
23 votesThanks for sharing your desire for a report which includes the employees' age.
I wanted to let you know that we've recently released an updated Employee Contact Details report which includes multiple new columns including DOB and age.
Thanks for your continued feedback, this helps shape the future of Xero.

2 votesHi team, returning to the idea here I am pleased to share that with the updated payroll reports cells are no longer merged when you export the report to Excel.
We appreciate your engagement with us on this here. Thanks for sharing through product ideas! 😊

NZ Payroll - Record Annual shutdown leave in Xero
Ability to record an annual shutdown leave.
Purpose: Ability for a Payroll admin to easily record annual shutdown leave when needing to make a calculation around separating employee’s anniversary dates and start dates.
16 votesHi everyone, thanks for your feedback on having a seamless way to record shutdown leave in Xero.
We recently released an update to all NZ Payroll organisations which now makes it easier to manage shutdown leave in Xero.
Once an organisation has migrated to having leave balances in weeks and days, the leave anniversary for an employee is decoupled from their start date.
For step-by-step guidance please see our support article.
We really appreciate everyone who supported and commented on this idea and hope these changes make it easier to manage shutdown leave.

UK Payroll - Ability for Payroll Admin to delete approved holidays
Ability for Payroll Admin to delete holidays. When an employee books the wrong day or is off sick during a period of pre-booked holiday and wants his/her holidays cancelled, the payroll admin should be able to delete the holiday but cannot.
2 votesHi team, rounding back on the idea here I want to confirm that currently Payroll admins can reject approved leave requests which will delete it.
If the leave request has been included in a draft or posted payrun, the payroll admin will need to revert to draft and delete the payrun before the leave request can be rejected.

UK Payroll - Ability to have national minimum wage checker
Xero checks employees age against pay rate and that of the National Minumum Wage so it does not get missed. It's doesn't have to change it, just highlight thsat the employee's rate needs to ber changed
125 votesHi everyone, we wanted to provide an update on this. We’ve begun rolling out our NMW checker to all UK payroll organisations.
Once relevant pay items are set as Subject to National Minimum and Living Wage calculations, Xero will check employees’ ages and pay rates against current NMW rates.
If an employee’s pay falls below the required minimum, Xero highlights this for payroll admins to review and update.
Thank you to everyone who supported this feature, please continue to share your thoughts as it helps our product team understand what’s important to you.

UK Payroll - V NI Category start date
Tried to amend the national insurance category to a v category for 6 weeks after the employees start date, as that is when they were valid from, to find the calendar will only allow me to amend to a date previous or on their start date with the company. Has anyone else encountered this issue at all?
1 voteHi Laura, it looks like you also raised a support case about this which has since been resolved.
To recap, when you add a V category, you'll have the option to enter a date in which the category starts from. Then you would need to enter the date in which the employee was first employed as a civilian.
For example, V category is valid from 31 Jan, therefore you can only enter the employment civilian date up until 31 Jan. You won't be able to enter an employment date after the NI category date.

UK Payroll - Display the date payslips were emailed
Simply to indicate within payroll when payslips have been emailed out.
18 votesHi everyone, we’ve now rolled this feature out to all UK payroll organisations. This means that payroll admins can now click onto posted pay runs to see if payslips have been emailed to employees.
Thanks for supporting this idea and driving the future of Xero.

Payroll Audit Trail - Posting of email payslips
Can we have an audit trail, even if similar to invoices/bills, where we can see the who, date & time of the payslips being sent out for a pay calendar?
This helps to know the payslips have been sent out and that there is an audit trail for this.33 votesHi all, thanks for supporting this idea. We understand the need to be able to confirm exactly when payslips were emailed to employees.
I'm please to let you know it's now possible to review when payslips were emailed to employees in the AU and UK versions of Xero payroll.
While this feature has been available for a few years in AU, we recently released an update in UK payroll, allowing payroll admins to view if and when payslips were sent to employees.
We thank you for your continued efforts to shape the future of Xero.

UK Payroll - Pay employees directly via Open Banking
With the advent of Open Banking, it would be great if when you submit the payroll, it could also utilise OB to physically make the payment to the employee also. This would help automate the whole payroll process.
17 votesHi everyone, I'd like to confirm that making direct wage payments with Crezco is now available to all UK organisations with Xero Payroll.
You can find out more of the details about this through our Xero Central article.
It's worth noting scheduling payments is possible. However, there are some banks that do not support scheduling so it's best to check in with your bank if they do.
We appreciate your feedback and sharing the difference this improvement could make for your business. Thanks !

UK Payroll - Adjust dates for holiday / statutory leave year
We should be able to adjust the holiday year to the UK tax year as that seems to be very common. ( There is already a discussion topic for this but I cannot see it on this list.
We should also be able to show holidays in days not hours.
We should be able to calculate holiday hours for employees that do not do a 5 day week. The hours taken on holiday need to be overwritten every time a PT employee books time off.76 votesHi community, happy to share that these changes have now been released in UK Payroll! 🎉 You now have the ability to set employee's leave to accrue based on a custom date of your choosing. We appreciate your inputs and based on the feedback we've made a change so that leave will now accrue on the first day of your annual accrual method.

AU Payroll - Resubmit bounced automatic superannuation payments
Currently, when super payments bounce, Xero sends us an email letting us know that a payment to a particular super fund from a particular payment batch has failed. Once we've identified whose it was, and got the updated details, we then have to contact Xero to get a re-processing authorised.
All of this takes time, during which the Directors of my clients may become liable for late super payments. I'd like a button to click to speed up at least the contacting Xero for re-processing bit - preferably as part of the process identify the refund received and connect the…
15 votesHi team, sorry we haven't joined in this idea sooner. Earlier this year we released an improvement so now if an auto superannuation payment is returned the authoriser will receive an email including the reason for the return. They will be able to withdraw the payment from the processed batch to reprocess the contributions. We have detailed help for this on Xero Central, but if you run into any snags as always our Xero Support team are available to help. 🙂

UK payroll - Monthly calculation based on annual salary split by 12
At the moment there doesn't seem to be a way to pay a monthly employee a basic monthly salary without the hourly rate changing to reflect the number of working days in the month. Please can there be an option to pay a monthly employee a basic 12th of their annual salary each month and the hours per month are set to the average of a 12th of their annual hours so that the hourly rate for overtime etc stays the same each month.
Thank you.
19 votesHi everyone, we’re pleased to share that we’ve now released working patterns to all UK organisations that use Xero Payroll.
You can now enter more information about employees’ working patterns to support leave and earning rates calculations and save you time. You’ll be able to:
- Create or select from working pattern templates
- Add working patterns manually or using the template
- Setup multiple weeks of a working pattern
Being able to set up to 13 weeks in a template means you’ll be able to accurately reflect employees’ that may work differing hours through weeks in a month like you’re after here. We’ve shared a few videos on YouTube that’ll help guide you through the change 😊
Thanks for all your engagement and sharing with us on the idea here.

AU Payroll - Add Payroll as optional extra for starter plan
PAYROLL AS AN ADD-ON IN AUSTRALIA
Please allow payroll as an add on in Australia. The very basic plan is enough for most small businesses and sole traders, but the jump in price just to add one apprentice is prohibitive. I feel small businesses and tradies are not catered for well. We often don't need all the bells and whistles, but just something basic. To pay my apprentice via Xero will cost me an extra $360/year which is ridiculous.
7 votesHey team, as you may have recently seen on our blog payroll is now included in all of our business edition plans!
We received valuable feedback from our customers on their needs in this feature with our lower tier plans, which has helped inform this change.
Thanks for your feedback, and sharing what matters to you in Xero Product Ideas! 🙂

NZ Payroll - standalone module
I have a client who would like to give access to payroll only for a user and not have access to the bank accounts. Is this on the future roadmap?
2 votesSorry for not rounding back on your idea here sooner, Leslie. This is already possible via the Payroll Admin role. Just one thing to check - when you mention they don't want them to have access to the bank accounts - would this be the organisation's bank accounts, or the employee bank account details? Here's a bit more information about the 2 payroll roles access and another with detail on how to set this up for a user.

AU Timesheets - Add clock-in/out functionality to desktop timesheets
It is easier those for admin employees who work sitting at the office.
4 votesThanks for raising this idea with us. You'll find you can now submit timesheets with start & end times, through Xero Me on a desktop web browser.
