AU Payroll - Alert/Limit for negative leave balances in Xero Me
When employees are using xero me app to book leave and the amount of leave they are requesting will cause their leave balance to go to a negative, either the app needs to not allow them to submit the leave as they are in negative already or will go negative or an alert to say that they are/will be in negative that they then need to acknowledge to submit the leave.

This would save a lot of headaches when an employee requests leave they don't have and a manager approves it without checking - a problem that causes issues with communication back to the employee and manager and has to be fixed before a pay run can be completed.

Also perhaps a warning while processing a pay run that the employee's leave is in arrears.

I don't get why this is not already in place. Its like spending money you don't have. Leave should never be able to go into the negative without an approval process in place, especially when submitted by the employee.

Agree, it is an issue for managers approving leave without entitlement.

I can't believe that this is a function we need to request. It is so basic but so important.

Restrict leave requests when there is insufficient leave.
It would be really good if we could prevent employees from requesting leave they do not have, or set an acceptable amount that they are allowed go into negative hours (eg up to -5, but not more than that, or however much each workplace deems okay). At the moment an employee with 2 hours available can request 100 hours leave. With many different dept managers approving the leave, sometimes they don't look at the balance, and approve it anyway, causing the payroll manager to have to go back to both and explain that the leave request is not possible.

When a leave request is put in by employee or employer it should not allow if hours unavailable so there is no chance of the balances becoming negative.

How is this not already built in?

This would be incredibly useful right now - when sending out the usual message to employees who hadn't yet submitted their leave for the EOY period, I asked those who might not have enough to talk to payroll or to the relevant manager, so that we could work things out. I then separately flagged with that manager who I thought was going to be in trouble, so that they could be prepared to deal with potential issues.
One of those people booked leave such that they would have been in deficit for the next six months if they take it all, and having to acknowledge that they would be in deficit would have at least alerted them that they'd be having a chat with the manager if they went through with it!
