Quotes - Ability to add and edit full contact details while creating a quote
Quotes Need a bit of work, You've just added ability to generate a link - that's great, however, still can't share quote in the app.
While creating a quote for a new customer - you can't add any of their details (but you can if you create an invoice), you have to create new customer first then go back to creating a quote, we have a lot of new customers just walking in.
Often we'll start on an Invoice Page and we can't just change that invoice to quote once it's started. Is it possible to change invoice to quote easier than copying to quote then deleting draft invoice?
Some sort of CRM style tagging/grouping quotes would be handy.
Ooh yes! Thanks for the comment here, Zac.
This past week we released an update so Quotes now use the same contact model as invoices 😁
Within quotes when you add a new contact you'll be given the option to add extra details and save these to the contact record. Similarly, from the edit view you can click on the Contact and select Edit to enter your contacts details including;
- Contact name
- Country, Area & Phone number
- Delivery address
- Billing address
We really appreciate hearing how this functionality would be highly useful in the quotes flow. Thanks for supporting in this here.

From draft Invoices you are able to click on. and view a client and their details you are also able to edit that contact.
This functionality is not available in Quoting currently.
I regularly need to check on a clients address to remind myself of the job or find their phone number to check on details from text messages and find it quite lengthy to have to go leave the quote and look them up in the contacts section.

Invoices / Quotes / Proformas all need to be exactly the same, and how you enter them exactly the same.
All we need is the ability to store them and use them different.
For example, a customer wanted a quote, and that needs all the details (except their order number) as a Pro-Forma or an Invoice.
The Quote does not show the customer delivery details when you are entering a new customer [see below] so I had to go all around the houses to enter it, and then I had to print a PDF on the screen just to make sure the details were on it.
This is another annoying example of XERO being design by engineers and management rather than people who use it day to day.
Buck your ideas up XERO - start reading these very sensible and simple fixes in the product ideas.
I'm still waiting for YOUR invoices to come to me as a pdf in your monthly emails, and I'm still waiting to send invoices to customers from the correct company email rather than the account one. -

Ability to add full contact details here would be a huge productivity gain and seems like an easy add from the invoicing template.

When making a quote for a new customer, an expected workflow would be to be able to add all of the contact details right in the quote.
But it only lets you add the name.If you want to add any more details, you have to make a new contact first and THEN create a quote.
It is strange because you can add a new customer with all the details from an invoice.
So it should be the same for a quote.

An improvement to the quoting workflow that would significantly improve efficiency.
Currently, when creating a quote, we are required to first create a contact before we can enter any customer details such as address, phone number, or email. This adds unnecessary steps, especially in fast-paced environments where quotes need to be generated quickly.
Suggested improvement:
Allow users to add customer details directly within the quote screen, including:Customer name
Phone number
Email
AddressWith the option to:
Automatically create a contact in the background, or
Save the details only for that specific quoteThis would streamline the quoting process and reduce friction when dealing with new or once-off customers.
For businesses generating high volumes of quotes, this change would save a significant amount of time and improve overall usability.
