Ability to bulk add and delete tracking options on invoices
Purpose: Ease of updating old invoices and purchases.
Hey team thanks for supporting this idea of bulk adding or removing tracking options on invoices and bills.
We have moved thi to Gaining Support so you can tell your friends and colleagues that they can oet and comment on this idea.
Our Product team will keep an eye on this as it gains more support, although there is no work on this currently, it's good to know which features would be beneficial to users for the future.

It would be good if there was a way to automatically populate or bulk apply the same department and staff member across all lines on an invoice. Ideally, a feature that allows this information to be applied once to the entire document would significantly improve efficiency.
I might have 20 lines on an invoices and if all items sold refer to the same department and salesperson it would facilitate if I could click on button and repeat these fields on the invoice. The invoice or bills pre setting only work if I am always using the same department and the same staff name which is not the case when you are in retail with new customers regularly. -

Hi Xero team,
Given that you're working on the PO module now, and there seems to be a new grid view library in use, is this something that could be added 'while you're in there'?For prototyping/manufacturing stuff it takes ages to fill out categories line-by-line where each item needs identifying separately on the PO.

Hi,
An Apply to All Lines feature would be extremely beneficial. On a daily basis, we have to manually edit invoices and bills. Not everyone can be set up as an advisor, that would cause more problems than solutions, and paying someone to do this kind of work every day is counter-productive, especially when dealing with over 100 invoices a day.

Please create the ability to bulk assign a tracking category to all the line items in a bill.
Where bills are imported with multiple lines sometimes staff approving bills in the external system like Ezzy bills assign the incorrect category or miss assigning a category and then one has to manually assing it to each line items in the bill - for my particular client this is sometimes 30-40 line items.
This will be a huge time saver.

The above comment dated Aug 2022 - isn't what is being asked. Find and Recode does not delete / archive the tracking code list. This would simply move the entry from one to another.

I would really like to be able to bulk delete project tracking categories. We have a vast list which needs reducing but doing this one by one and having to come back from the archive page is tiresome. Thanks

I agree! Even better would be if there were a "select all" feature for entering one tracking code for all the lines, but still allow you to still select one or two lines within the list and select a different code. For me this happens enough that it would help!

In the enter a bills screen allow the ability to assign the same Store/Employment group to all the line items in the bill at once.

Find and Recode does not allow for changing Tracking categories accross multiple bills. It deals with the account code and not the tracking category. Tracking categories are innocuous unlike account codes and should be able to be applied to multiple invoices at lower user permission levels than advisor. Its a major inconvenience only having two active tracking categories and even more so when they cant be applied en masse especially to historic invoices.

Could you please add a feature to fill a tracking category for every line in a bill or invoice?
I am dealing with multiple pages of line items on a bill and each bill belongs to different locations (tracking categories). Note that allocating the tracking category to the supplier account, won't work, because they deal with all our tracking locations. If we can add the tracking option once with an option to fill all the remaining lines, it will save us a lot of silly repetitive work. Currently, we have to type, select, tab, tab, tab, tab, and then repeat it for every single line item! Do this over a 40 to 50 line bill and then repeat this over multiple bills for different locations and you will quickly realise how painful this is. -

You shouldn’t need to find and recode or tan through on the sales invoice or bill.
If you assign a tracking code to a contact under their contact card it should automatically populate without having to tab through each column or find and recode!What’s the point of being able to assign the tracking under their contact if it doesn’t actually do anything 🤔

It would be great when entering a bill if you had the option to autofill the tracking categories entered from the first line rather than having to enter them manually. Have a check box that you could tick and it would auto populate.
I understand you can add these categories in the Contact but I am talking about if the tracking categories change for each bill.
This would save so much time. -

We have sales invoices pushed through from production software. Each invoice (particularly those for our retail outlet) have multiple lines for each product sold. I would like to select all lines on an invoice and pick the department (tracking category) for all of them, rather than one by one.
This will allow us to track sales by each department.

Fill - continue a series by using click and drag (like Excel) for Account and/or Department Codes that are the same in large invoices.

I would really like to see the functionality to import tracking options in order to set it up, rather than having to manually capture up to 100 in each of the two tracking categories. This should be an easy fix on Xero's side that will help transitioning over from another accounting package so much easier. :)

Yes. That might be true. You can use Find & Recode.
BUT, you can not use it on Quotes, Purchase Orders or Any Voided/Deleted transactions in Xero (which still hovers in the deep dark corners of Xero)
So if you want to get rid/delete a tracking option that was used, and maybe on that one invoice that was voided. You c
an forget about correcting that element. You are stuck. If it irritates you as much as me, then you must start a brand new Xero profile. -
