  1. Box 29 of the IR10 should match the taxable income per the main income tax return (IR3, IR4, IR6, IR7, etc).

It would be helpful if when running an audit check on a tax return, XPM checks to see whether they match and notifies us when it does not match.

    Thanks!

Hi Caeden, thanks for sharing your idea about IR10 validation. It’s great to understand how automatically matching Box 29 with the main tax return could make audit workflows smoother.

The community team has reviewed this and moved it to Gaining support, so it’s now open for votes and comments. If you’d like to see this in action, sharing a bit more about how you’d use it in your practice could help others understand its value.

We’d also love to hear from anyone else with thoughts or experiences around this as it helps our team understand the impact. We’ll keep you updated as the idea develops.

  2. The Xero XPM system calculates GST for each task being billed, but it doesn’t have a total GST check at the invoice level. As a result, some invoices with round billed amounts—such as $30,000—end up with incorrectly rounded GST, for example, $2,999.99. Xero calculates GST on each line item of invoices and other transactions, rounding to the nearest cent. The total GST is then the sum of these individual line calculations, which can sometimes lead to small discrepancies in the overall GST amount.
While Xero doesn't currently offer a total GST validation feature at the invoice level, we would appreciate…

Hi Martin, thanks for sharing your idea about GST validation in XPM invoicing. It’s really helpful to hear how a total GST check could help prevent rounding discrepancies.

The community team has reviewed this and moved it to Gaining support, so it’s now open for votes and comments. If this is something you’d like to see, joining the conversation is a great way to help bring it to the product team’s attention.

We’ll keep an eye on progress and share updates here as the idea develops.

  3. For annual leave, sick leave and unpaid leave - have a link between practice payroll and XPM timesheets for practice staff.

Be able to show booked and taken leave clearly in XPM on the dashboard.

Hi Sasha, thanks for your suggestion.

We've reviewed your idea and can appreciate that this approach may provide greater visibility in regards to practice staff's annual leave. We'cw updated the status to gaining support so that other members can vote and share comments to lend their support to this idea. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know what's important to you and your business.

  4. It would be helpful if you could move the job information sections into any order (and this is default for all jobs & Clients). The main focus when we open a job is to review the tasks and these are way down the bottom. At the very least the default job information layout could be that all the sections are closed and you can open the section you want without have to scroll down all the time.

  5. Currently the Client Title on a printed or downloaded tax return shows in all uppercase even though the fields in XPM & Tax are proper case. Would like this to be an option to choose so that the text is consistent eg either all uppercase or proper case.

  6. If interest expense in Item 6 is over $2M, Xero Tax should remind preparers to consider thin capitalisation rules.

Reduces risk of oversight on large returns.

Hi Zoe, thanks for sharing this idea about adding a thin capitalisation reminder in Xero Tax AU. We appreciate you highlighting how an automated prompt could support tax preparers when interest expenses exceed the $2M threshold. We've reviewed your idea and it's now moved to Gaining Support, which means it's open for community support through votes and comments. We'd love to hear from others in the community who might benefit from this type of compliance reminder, so please continue to share your thoughts and vote if this resonates with your practice needs.

It appears the group name is not pushing through the WIP link to the filter properly.

Hi Ben, while WIP should be appearing for all the clients in the group our product teams have found an issue for some users where this isn't loading correctly.

We have intentions to fix this however a couple of other items that they have attention on first, I'll share when work for this gets picked up. Thanks

  8. To stop the autocorrection for daylight saving in the Timer. I know only happens twice a year, but is very frustrating trying to enter time when the Timer keeps adding (or removing) an hour from the time entered. For example - when enter 09.00 in the Start time, jumps to 10.00; then when enter 10.00 in End time, both the Start and End time jump to 11.00.
Please can have corrected so the time does not autocorrect.

Thank you for sharing your valuable suggestion and clearly outlining the specific changes that matter to you. We've reviewed your idea, and it's now officially open for the community to champion and support! To maximize its visibility and potential, please share it with your colleagues who would also benefit so they can add their vote. Beyond voting, other members can now comment to provide additional detail on how this improvement would enhance their experience with Xero.

  9. Please add a column or filter to the XPM Job Manager screen for client Groups. There is currently no column/filter for client group in the job manager screen in XPM - which means if you want to see all the jobs for a client group - e.g. Alf Barbagallo - have to search each entity individually. Also means cannot easily do a bulk update for all jobs in a client group.

✨ Appreciate you raising this, Julie! We understand how adding a client group filter to Job Manager would speed things up and cut the back-and-forth. In the meantime, a quick workaround: press Ctrl + F (Cmd + F on Mac) and type the client’s name into your browser’s search box to jump to matching entries on the page. Your idea is now in gaining support, so it’s open for votes and comments. If you can, please share it with colleagues who’d benefit—more support helps us gauge impact and prioritise what matters most.

Hi YiLing thanks for sharing this idea. Currently Xero allows the ability to use draft returns and the "Estimate" tab for basic scenario testing. For complex scenarios, it is recommended to use ATO calculators and compare results manually. We will move this idea to Gaining support and monitor for more traction from users.

  11. We have some companies and trusts with characters such as hyphens in their legal names. However, Xero Tax does not allow us to distribute directly to these entities due to these characters in their names.

Our current work around is entering the beneficiaries' details manually, but then the distribution does not flow directly to the beneficiaries' returns.

I think this may be a ATO limitation. However, in other tax programs I have used, I was able to use an alternate name so the distribution could still be directly linked to the beneficiaries return. I would like a similar feature in…

✨ Hi Chloe — thanks for taking the time to share this idea.We appreciate the practical suggestion to support an alternate name approach while keeping the correct legal name on file. We have moved this Idea to Gaining Support so we can gauge customer sentiment across AU Xero Tax and connected areas.

Please keep the conversation going and encourage colleagues to add context, this helps us prioritise the right improvements for partners and practices.

  12. When creating a journal and posting it, if we want to go back and make it an auto-reversing journal, the only way is to click "copy" or "reverse" then enter a new journal at a required future date. When doing this, Xero does not link the two (i.e. does not recognise the new journal as an auto reversing journal with the usual hyperlink and note). My suggestion is for Xero to keep the "auto reverse" field open when editing already posted journals. Two example use cases:

    1) Accidentally posted journal as a standalone journal and want to then make it…

Hi Tania, thanks for sharing this idea. We appreciate you explaining how early submission of activity statements could streamline your workflow, especially for clients with zero balances. As you know, at the moment, Xero only supports lodging activity statements for the periods as they’re issued by the ATO, and we process statements in order to align with those obligations. This approach follows ATO-provided due dates and period availability, which are fixed by the ATO and surfaced in Xero to help you stay compliant. This idea has been moved to not in Pipeline as this is not something we are looking at currently. The Idea will be open for votes though and we will keep monitoring it. Thanks again for taking the time to share your suggestion with us and the community.

  14. Put all CIPC related applications in a separate secretarial Application. Beneficial Ownership has nothing to do with Tax, and I don't do tax so can't use Gatekeeper but I advertise Beneficial Ownership a lot and use a good, priced Beneficial Ownership submission to get my foot in the door and then try sell the client on Xero. You could also look at submitting Annual Returns to CIPC out of Xero as you have the clients Company registration number as well as their turnover.

Hi John, thanks for bringing this idea to us. We appreciate the explanation of how beneficial ownership submissions fit into your business approach. However, this suggestion and it's now marked as Not in pipeline, which means it isn't on the foreseeable roadmap at this time. We'll keep this idea open for votes so we can continue to gauge community interest. Thanks again for contributing to the conversation 🙏.

We're interested to understand the interest in being able to add multiple emails to a clients record, for the purposes of setting these up for different purposes.

It would be great to hear more detailed feedback from our partners on the particular purposes you'd want to set up emails for and how this would help you through Xero's practice tools. Thanks!

  16. When I started with Xero, we had a lovely monthly Zoom call with local Xero Accounting & Bookkeeping Partner Practices. Topics would be presented, but also we would exchange ideas for best use practices and workarounds and how to leverage Xero tools. We could discuss troubleshooting and compliance, etc. It was a great way as a business owner to network with other Xero-focused practices in my area, support one another, and share information. It would be great to see these come back one day!

  17. Looking for a report that identifies clients who have registered for GST or PAYG with the ATO but have not lodged any Activity Statements (AS). This needs to be linked to the ATO. (some of these clients are new to needing to complete AS).

  18. When adding a staff member to a client Xero file with advisor access, previously I was able to notify the staff member. That wasn't an option which meant I needed to go and manually tell the team member that I've added them.

I like being able to choose if I want to notify them or not because if it's something holding up workflow I want them to know so they can continue working but if I'm just adding them to the team they'll expect to have access so I won't want to notify them in that scenario.

We should be able to customise this invoice date order as a default setting, it opens in no order and having to click on the Due Date twice every time to get the invoices in order of latest to oldest to check before billing on every client is a real pain and waste of time when we have to do it so often.
We would appreciate you looking at making this a customisable setting very soon, thank you

  20. When you select option "D" at "Have you applied an exemption, rollover or additional discount?" of a CGT worksheet, the return should automatically grey out/disregard discount as a CGT method because you cannot discount a capital gain if you are using option D which is the 15 year retirement exemption. At the moment it automatically discounts the gain and causes an error which does not explain that you need to change the gain to other
