Xero Ask - Develop ESIGN within Xero
It would be nice if client that need to sign the report were able to be send an electronic copy and are able to sign electronically via the ask function. Instead of needing to use a third-party application. It would greatly assist with record keeping and making sure all the imported items are stored withing one app.
3 votesHi there 👋, it sounds like you're aware of the existing functionality of Xero Sign powered by Adobe Acrobat but you're wanting Xero to build this capability within Xero Ask itself?
Being open this isn't something we have any plans around atm, but will get a sense of the interest from the community in this through your idea here.

Clients - Move business structure field to the top of the form layout when entering new clients
In the new Xero Practice HQ, it is very annoying when adding in a new client who is an individual. You need to scroll all the way down to business structure to select business structure, change it to individual, and then go back to the top to add in date of birth and gender. Makes the process of entering a new client in much more tedious than it needs to be.
1 voteHi Louis, thanks for raising this idea. We can see how moving the business structure field to the top of the new client setup form could best suit certain workflow.
The idea is to move the business structure selection earlier in the form, as this choice influences the information needed later in the setup process.
We'll continue tracking engagement and support from the community here.

NZ Tax - IETC part year calculations up until entitlement for Best Start payments commences
Why will the IR3 Tax return not let you claim the IETC for the number of months a client is entitled to, before Best Start payments start. It will calculate the IETC for the 9 months in the return but as soon as the Working for Families schedule is added with the Best Start Payments boxed ticked it changes the calculation to NIL.
You would think that the IETC calculation would remain or could be manually over-ridden so all calculated amounts would show on the tax summary for the client. This could be flagged when an audit of the tax…
1 voteHi Joanne, appreciate you raising the idea with us here.
Just to confirm how this currently works - in the Xero Tax IR3 form, IETC is tied to the income amount entered in the return. The question that asks whether they're eligible is part of the form logic, and will determine if your income or status is non-qualifying. If this is the case it'll mark IETC as unavailable.
While we'll get a sense of the wider interest in a change for this here, we want to be upfront that we don't have any short term plans for changing this forms logic.

XPH - Allow time allocation budgets to roll over into recurring job
Would be great if you could add estimated time budgets to tasks at the recurring job level, rather than having to manually add them each time a new job is created from the recurring template.
Having the ability to set time budgets at the recurring job level would save time, particularly for annual accounts jobs where the estimated time is consistent.
18 votesHi everyone, appreciate all the engagement on this idea. We understand why having time budgets saved and carried over on recurring job templates could be valuable, especially for practices managing recurring work and monitoring team capacity.
The idea is to allow estimated time budgets set on a recurring job template to automatically flow through to each new job created from that template, reducing manual updates and helping teams track expected effort more consistently.
We'll keep track of the votes and feedbacks on this idea to continue gauge interests.

Xero - Ability to have a vehicle Log Book to automatically proportion vehicle expenses
To have the ability to record odometer readings, start, finish & business/private use.
Then automatically apportion the business use component against vehicle expenses. For instance the Australian rules require 12 weeks minimum of logbook entries. More entries = more accuracy.
This could also be a great feature to 'sell' XERO to new customers.
1 voteThanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you Duncan. At the moment , the best option is to look for a connected app that allows you to achieve this. You can check out our Xero App Store. If you need further assistance, we'd recommend raising a case with our support team as well. Xero Tax UK - management expenses support
Xero Tax no longer supports management expenses (eg for investment companies), which are a common requirement. This used to work fine. The workaround recommended by Xero Support is to incorrectly include management expenses as operating / trading expenses, then make them disallowable and include them separately as a management expense. This mess is all visible on the CT600 and needs fixing.
1 voteThanks for raising this idea with us, and for clearly explaining the impact it has on your workflow. 🙂
We understand the need for Xero Tax to better support management expenses for investment companies, especially where the current workaround creates confusing or incorrect presentation on the CT600.
We’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can track interest from the community and help our product team better understand the value of improving this area.
If others are affected by this as well, it would be helpful to hear more examples of how this impacts your filings and any risks or extra work it creates for your practice.
If there are any updates or plans made around this, we’ll share them here.

Partner Program - Eliminate 60-day Subscription Requirement
This may not gain much traction with established partners, but for those of us who are new to Xero and are working to establish a business, the requirement to sign on a client within 60 days is a problem. At one time, the requirement was 90 days but was shortened to 60 in 2017.
It should, however, not exist at all.
Note that your closest competitor has no such requirement. What management may not realize is that it comes across as a threat from the beginning, which frankly stopped me from signing up for the program for a while. Now…
3 votesThanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you David. We'll open this idea up to the community so they can share their thoughts and add votes. AU Tax - Detailed breakdown of prefilled Allowances from STP data
I refer to
CX0018002998this https://productideas.xero.com/users/6251636716-christopher-le was wrongly merged to another idea.
I paste it again
When the label 2 of an ITR is prefilled, I want to be able to detail or write a breakdown of what that allowance amount consist of from the client's STP income statement. e.g.
- Laundry ###,
- Motor vehicle ###,
- Telephone ###at the moment the function just inputs the total allowance figure shown in prefill
2 votesHi Christopher, appreciate you sharing your thoughts on this. While STP prefill helps reduce manual entry, we understand there are times where additional detail is needed to complete the return.
Having a clearer breakdown of allowances within the tax return could help reduce manual work. We’ve updated the status to Gaining Support so we can track feedback and share interest with the product team.

XPM - Copy client phone number instead of link address
Please remove the tel: prefix when phone numbers are copied from XPM to be pasted elsewhere. Currently they are formatted to have a "tel:" prefix which is part of the hyperlink format that makes phone numbers clickable, however this creates extra work when one needs to copy and paste the number because after pasting we have to edit it and remove the "tel:" prefix.
As an admin function we often need to copy and paste the number and would like the "tel:" prefix removed please.
FYI the email field had a "copy to:" prefix but that has since been removed…
1 voteThanks for taking the time to share this feedback with us.
We understand how frustrating it is to have to remove the tel: prefix each time you want to copy a phone number. Being able to copy just the phone number as well as copy the full link directly from the client record would be a helpful improvement and would make this workflow much smoother.
We’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can better understand how many customers this would help and the impact it’s having on day-to-day use.
Thanks again for raising it and sharing how this would improve your experience.

XPM - Duplicate Town names removed
Remove duplicate suburb name for NZ addresses. Currently needs to manually delete the duplicate suburb name when using the auto-complete feature to populate address fields
2 votesHi there 🙂
Thanks for sharing this with us — we understand how frustrating it is when the address lookup repeats the town or suburb and creates extra tidy-up work.
We’re aware of this behaviour, and we’ve now moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can better gauge community interest and understand the wider impact this is having for customers.
We’ll continue to monitor the feedback here as it comes in. Thanks again for taking the time to raise it.

AU Tax - Automatically exclude Superannuation Taxed Elements for clients aged 60+
Xero Tax makes no attempt to look at the age of the recipient of superannuation annuities. Taxed Elements for individuals over 60 years of age are meant to be excluded from the tax return. The ATO does this automatically - Xero Tax does not. It is not a feature request, this is an error in the software that needs rectifying.
2 votesThanks Chris for the feedback. We hear that reviewing and adjusting superannuation components based on age can add extra steps during the return process.
Incorporating age-based logic for Superannuation Taxed Elements may help reduce manual handling and support more streamlined preparation workflows. This has been moved to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest and share it with the product team.

AU Tax - AUSTRAC risk-rating tools for client profiles and reports
With all the new AUSTRAC reporting requirements coming soon is Xero adding any beneficial features to Practice Manager eg a Risk Rating box and any other reporting fields that might be helpful to be compliant with AUSTRAC and to reduce having to use additional software to keep track of these.
Are there any links to apps you suggest for this or what are other accountants using to assist with all this.1 voteHi Riki, thanks for raising this idea. We understand that having dedicated AUSTRAC compliance fields and risk assessment tracking within practice management workflows could be valuable as firms prepare for upcoming AML/CTF obligations.
The idea is to provide structured fields for capturing compliance information, such as client risk ratings, verification status, and review dates, helping practices manage these requirements directly within Xero Tax.
We encourage the community to vote on this idea if you'd find this compliance workflow improvement useful.

AU Tax - Allow bulk EFT Report retrieval
In XERO Tax - when retrieving the EFT reports for monies into Trust. Currently XERO only allows one at a time. If you have 30 or 40 fee from refund returns in one day, you never get the reports in time. Other softwares allow a bulk download that shows (eg - on 20 April 2026) this many deposits were made to your Trust Account and these are the clients they are in relation to. This is one snapshot for one day. It is an impossible function as it stands for big practice.
1 voteThanks Meschel for raising this. We hear that managing EFT reports individually can be time-consuming.
The idea of bulk exporting EFT details in one action could help improve efficiency for firms handling larger workloads. This has now been moved to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking demand and share it with our product team.

AU Tax - Ability to schedule client tax return emails to be sent for signing
Can XPM/Xero tax add a scheduled send feature? So that we can schedule tax returns/BAS returns to be sent at a set time and day to the client for signing? Content snare, Outlook etc all have these features and its very much missing from XPM.
1 voteHi Jackie, thanks for bringing this idea forward.
We understand you’re looking for an option to schedule tax return emails for signing, so client communications can be sent at a time that works best for your practice and clients.
Having more control over when signature requests are delivered could help practices manage busy tax periods more efficiently.
We’ll continue to track feedback and interest from the community for this idea. Please keep sharing your workflows and use cases here.

XPM - Bulk Allocate Categories in Job Manager
XPM - It would be great to be able to bulk allocate categories under Job Manager
1 voteHey Theresa, thanks for raising this Idea with us. ✨ We have now moved this to Gaining Support!
We appreciate the time and effort it takes in raising an Idea and now all we need is for your colleagues and friends to vote and comment on the Idea so our Product team can see which ideas are gaining traction.

Clients - Adjustable Column Widths
Allow adjustable column widths in the Clients screen (like Excel), especially for the Client Name field. Long entity names are currently truncated, making it difficult to identify clients. Also allow adding additional columns such as ABN and Address. This will significantly improve usability for practices managing large client bases.
3 votesHi Navnit, appreciate your sharing here. We understand you’re looking for adjustable column widths in client view so you can view important details like longer client names without needing to open each record.
Having more flexible grid layouts could make it easier to review client information and manage records more efficiently.
We'll keep track of this idea here and will update if there's any progress.

Xero Partner Hub | Homepage - Lodgements Widget include out to sign
Please add "Out to Sign" in the Lodgements Widget Calcuation, it's important. If you are showing as say 74% on time and you have 10% out to sign, we want to know this so that we know that we are really at 84%. I love that the suspended returns are in the number but we should also have the out to sign, even if it's an added bar.
So you have On time, out to sign, not lodged, late. So instead of the 3 bars in the image, 4 bars.
Thanks!
27 votesThanks for your feedback on the Lodgements widget in the Xero partner Hub here, Keith. Our product team are staying close to the feedback we're receiving on this new Homepage and we'll be sure to share if there are any updates planned for this.

AU Xero HQ - Payroll Manager
It would be great to have Payroll Manager for Australia, to be able to see a list of clients who have payroll, reporting on last posted payrun, last filed payrun, last superannuation payment, status of superannuation payment (ie: submitted, approved, rejected, failed, etc). this would save significant time rather than having to open each client file one by one to check this information.
17 votesThanks so much for taking the time to share this idea with us.
This is something we’ve heard interest in from other customers as well, so we’re moving it into the Gaining support stage. From here, other users can add their votes and comments, which helps show how many people would find this useful and the different ways it would help them.
Our product team regularly reviews ideas in this stage alongside other work. While we can’t promise if or when this will be developed, the level of support and detail shared here is an important input into future planning.

UK tax - Ability to split debtors due for longer than 12 months
Xero Tax currently doesn't have the functionality to separately display non-current assets and current assets as distinct sections on the face of the balance sheet. The software is presenting all debtors (including the deferred tax asset) under the current assets section, with the split between current and non-current amounts shown only in the notes.
Whilst FRS 102:4.4A states that in most cases it's sufficient to disclose amounts due after more than one year in the notes, in our recent case we identified that we had a material item that requires separate disclosure on the face of the balance sheet to…
1 voteThanks for raising with us here, Nyima.
Appreciate the need you've shared on being able to show a material item separately on the face of the balance sheet.
It'd be good for us to get a better capture the impact this has for other practices here. For yourself and others coming across the idea, it would be great to hear further examples of any compliance or presentation needs you have in this feature, particularly where material items need separate face-of-balance-sheet disclosure rather than note-only disclosure. If there's any plans made around this we will share here.
