  1. Xero Tax pulls in the dates for the accounts from Companies House and assumes that the dates for the tax return will be the same. This might not always be the case - my example is due to the leap year causing problems

I filed returns to Companies House and HMRC to include 29 Feb as the guidance suggested using my previous software. This was all accepted fine but now I am unable to file a CT600 using Xero tax because Companies House have the year starting on 29 Feb but HMRC have it on 1 Mar.

    There is no…

Thanks for sharing this and explaining the situation you encountered. We appreciate you highlighting how important it is to have flexibility when filing dates don't align between Companies House and HMRC, particularly in leap year scenarios.

We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

Along with votes, other members can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero.

  2. There is currently no option in XPM to build a report that shows the GST returns that have not been created yet. Whilst this is possible using the [Client] Tax Return Status field for Financial year end returns, it is not possible for GST returns.

For practices needing to file 100s of GST returns for various clients each month. Having the ability to see, for a given period, whether any GST filings were missed would be extremely helpful.

Hi David, we appreciate your idea about GST return tracking in XPM. Being able to create a custom report to view GST returns that haven’t been done yet would be really helpful, especially for practices managing high volumes of returns.

We’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support, so it’s now open for votes and comments. The more feedback and use cases shared here, the better our product team can understand how valuable this would be.

We’d love to hear how others currently manage GST return tracking and whether this report would support your workflow. Thanks again for starting the conversation!

  3. Prior to the new XPM update, viewing a group provided a detailed breakdown of each client's business structure. The new layout simplifies this into broad categories (individual, company, trust, partnership, other), meaning you now have to click into each client to see the specific details. For example, 'other' represents a range of options such as departing client, on hold due to non-payment, or a non-client entity. This makes it harder to understand a client's status at a glance. Reintroducing the full business structure breakdown would significantly improve efficiency by allowing users to quickly interpret each client's status without needing additional…

Hi Hannah, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the business structure view in Xero Practice Hub. It’s helpful to understand how important it is to see clearer client details at a glance when you’re managing groups of clients.

Your suggestion around having a more detailed business structure breakdown makes sense, especially as broader categories like Other can cover a mix of different client situations.

We’ve now moved this idea to Gaining Support, which means it’s open for the community to vote and add comments. This helps us understand what’s most valuable to you, and we’ll keep you posted as things progress. If others would find this useful too, feel free to share your thoughts.

  4. It would be great to bring back the collapsible custom fields in XPM when editing client details. This previously made it much easier to jump between headings. With the new tabbed layout, all custom fields now appear in one long list with no distinction between headings, which means a lot more scrolling to find the fields we need to update.

  5. Could we get a PAYG Instalment worksheet please, with an option to tick if a client is a new entrant to the PAYG instalment system and a field where we can enter the expected lodgement date of the tax return. These fields can then drive the PAYG instalment estimate for the current financial year.
Currently Xero just estimates the instalments for the four quarters which isn't always correct. For example if we lodge a return in November and the client is entering the PAYG instalment system for the first time, there's no way to zero out the September quarter without…

  6. I note that when I am in the "Clients" and other tabs the top two toolbars (green and white) disappear when scrolling. It is very annoying that you can't see the client's name and other tabs at a glance. Is it possible that these two toolbars can remain static?
    Thank you.

Appreciate how constantly seeing these headers could be useful when dealing with large lists, Angela.

While not a direct solve of what you're asking here a tip to help you quickly navigate back up the page could be to use the 'Home' button on your keyboard.

We'll track the interest of this one here and I'll share if there are any updates planned.

  7. With the new layout the old reports - even the customisable ones do not have all these new fields that can be chosen and exported.

Eg there are now multiple phone fields which is great but I use this data to export to my phone system but now I cant.

Hi Matthew, appreciate you sharing how the ability to export clients' information can supports your workflows, particularly when integrating with external systems like phone or CRM tools.

This idea has now moved to Gaining Support, which means it’s open for the community to vote and add comments. With the new layout, some of the fields available in the old reports, like multiple phone numbers — aren’t currently included in exports. Hearing how this affects your workflow, and what fields you’d find most useful, helps our product team understand the real-world impact and prioritise improvements.

We encourage anyone who would find this useful to add their votes and share how it could benefit their practice. Thanks for helping us make Xero even better.

Thank you for your interest in having multicurrency available on Xero’s Ledger plans.

We’ve carefully considered this idea as part of our ongoing product reviews. At this stage, enabling multicurrency for Ledger plans is not in our development pipeline, and there are no plans or timelines to introduce this feature for Ledger.

We appreciate your feedback and will continue to review our product roadmap based on customer needs and market demand. If the status of this idea changes in the future, we’ll be sure to provide an update.

Thank you again for your suggestion and for helping us shape the future of Xero. 🙂

  9. In the new Clients tab, to have the ability to customise where the details are showing in the Information tab.
For instance, the Referral source (which we do not use) is currently showing at the top of the screen, whereas the IRD Number which is needed have to scroll down to view.

  11. Ability to add a date greater than 50 years. We have a custom field for trust vesting date (typically up to 80 years after formation). Since the latest update we are unable to add date greater than 50 years.

  12. We would like to be able to generate partnership and sole trader accounts in Xero without having to use Xero's fixed asset module. The fixed asset note generated in the accounts not is currently not fit for use without uploading all assets into the fixed asset module.

Hi Victoria, thank you for sharing this idea with is. We understand that while the Fixed Assets module is a core part of Xero, many practices use specialized external software or custom spreadsheets to manage their asset registers. Currently, the UK Tax and Accounts Production workflow is designed to pull directly from the Xero Fixed Asset module to ensure data integrity, but we recognize that being "forced" into this workflow can create extra manual work for those using external tools.

  13. When we are archiving a client there should be the ability to archive the contacts (if they are not linked to an active client profile). Or at least be able to Archive them from the contacts page https://hq.xero.com/clients/contacts

Currently the only option is to edit or delete, deleting is not a great option should you need to follow revisit something in the future.

If you don't delete them, you are then left with the contact appearing in the suggestion list when trying to connect clients to a client profile.

  14. Have Xero collect and pay the tax directly to the IRD on clients behalf. A little bit like Hnry, but do it better. Would be great for small business/contractors etc. IRD have really struggled to collect tax/gst in specific industries like construction and hospo

  15. Recent change in XPM has moved the old/archived jobs and invoices to a different tab. I prefer the old layout where you can see the current and old jobs all in one place/screen.

The archived or old jobs have been moved to a different tab which means you cannot see both open and closed jobs at the same time. We rely on this when preparing annual accounts and tax returns because we often review all invoices or jobs for a full financial year, we hardly ever are only looking at the open jobs or invoices. The issue is we can…

We appreciate how being able to see both active and archived Jobs within a Client is useful to some practices workflows. We will be sure to share if there are any plans made around this with you here. Thanks

Hi Lisa, thanks for sharing this here. We can appreciate that having an indication of a subscription would be a good addition to avoid back and forth. We're moving this idea to gain more support so that other users such as yourself who would like to see this change implemented can also add their vote. You can now share this idea with your peers to get them to vote as well! :)

  17. This isn't a workpapers-specific solution, but the ability to see the status of workpapers in the clients section of the PartnerHub could have great development opportunities. It would be very useful to give a quick snapshot of the client and if it was also available as a column in the global client view you could filtering by work completed/ in progress/ not yet received. Furthermore, giving developers access to the API for this field would also open up other opportunities.

  19. It would be good to have the ability to amend account headings through the new company accounts via Xero blue. This could be linked to the reporting name or as an iXBRL heading. The main issue we are trying to address is including brackets around the word profit when there has been a disposal of a fixed asset (or loss if it is showing in the income section). just for clarity on the accounts.

  20. The process for entering addresses for clients needs to be easier and more streamlined. It should default to Australia (the overwhelming majority of clients have Australian addresses). You should also be able to copy street address to postal address, rather than having to reenter the data.
