  1. When creating a journal and posting it, if we want to go back and make it an auto-reversing journal, the only way is to click "copy" or "reverse" then enter a new journal at a required future date. When doing this, Xero does not link the two (i.e. does not recognise the new journal as an auto reversing journal with the usual hyperlink and note). My suggestion is for Xero to keep the "auto reverse" field open when editing already posted journals. Two example use cases:

  2. Ability to complete activity statements before the end of quarter, or at least be able to unlock and load IAS's of select clients that we know have zero balances to submit.

    Hi Tania, thanks for sharing this idea. We appreciate you explaining how early submission of activity statements could streamline your workflow, especially for clients with zero balances. As you know, at the moment, Xero only supports lodging activity statements for the periods as they’re issued by the ATO, and we process statements in order to align with those obligations. This approach follows ATO-provided due dates and period availability, which are fixed by the ATO and surfaced in Xero to help you stay compliant. This idea has been moved to not in Pipeline as this is not something we are looking at currently. The Idea will be open for votes though and we will keep monitoring it. Thanks again for taking the time to share your suggestion with us and the community.

  3. Put all CIPC related applications in a separate secretarial Application. Beneficial Ownership has nothing to do with Tax, and I don't do tax so can't use Gatekeeper but I advertise Beneficial Ownership a lot and use a good, priced Beneficial Ownership submission to get my foot in the door and then try sell the client on Xero. You could also look at submitting Annual Returns to CIPC out of Xero as you have the clients Company registration number as well as their turnover.

However, this suggestion and it's now marked as Not in pipeline, which means it isn't on the foreseeable roadmap at this time.   4. It would be useful to have settings to setup multiple emails on a clients record for different purposes. This would improve accuracy in communications and sending of documentation when managing clients.

    We're interested to understand the interest in being able to add multiple emails to a clients record, for the purposes of setting these up for different purposes.

I propose introducing a pre-profile pop-up in Xero XPM to provide immediate access to critical client information, including linked contacts, billing references, and direct hyperlinks to individual contacts. This feature would also allow for the configuration of custom reminders, ensuring that key client details and actionable prompts are prominently displayed to enhance staff efficiency and client service.

  6. When I started with Xero, we had a lovely monthly Zoom call with local Xero Accounting & Bookkeeping Partner Practices. Topics would be presented, but also we would exchange ideas for best use practices and workarounds and how to leverage Xero tools. We could discuss troubleshooting and compliance, etc. It was a great way as a business owner to network with other Xero-focused practices in my area, support one another, and share information. It would be great to see these come back one day!

  7. Looking for a report that identifies clients who have registered for GST or PAYG with the ATO but have not lodged any Activity Statements (AS). This needs to be linked to the ATO. (some of these clients are new to needing to complete AS).

    We are currently using MYOB for this feature.

We should be able to customise this invoice date order as a default setting, it opens in no order and having to click on the Due Date twice every time to get the invoices in order of latest to oldest to check before billing on every client is a real pain and waste of time when we have to do it so often.
    We would appreciate you looking at making this a customisable setting very soon, thank you

  9. When you select option "D" at "Have you applied an exemption, rollover or additional discount?" of a CGT worksheet, the return should automatically grey out/disregard discount as a CGT method because you cannot discount a capital gain if you are using option D which is the 15 year retirement exemption. At the moment it automatically discounts the gain and causes an error which does not explain that you need to change the gain to other

  10. Prefill - when we prefill a return from the ATO it brings in lots of information but doesn't update the due date for lodgement. The date currently appears to prefill from client details.

    Hi Vicki, thanks for sharing this idea. We can see why this may be helpful for some users. Currently, you can import an 'Income tax lodgment status report' from ATO online services to bulk update the current tax returns due dates in the client details, but for now Xero does not pull this information from the ATO. We've moved this idea to gaining support and we'll monitor the idea for more support.

  11. It would be really helpful if invoice templates could adjust automatically based on client type, instead of having to create and assign multiple templates manually.

    For example:
    1. Individuals and Partnerships would include the 'Attention' field, but not include the 'Contact Name' field
    2. Company invoices would include the 'Attention' field, but not the 'Contact Name' field
    3. Trusts, SMSFs, and Charities would include both the 'Attention' field and the 'Contact Name' field

    This would save time, reduce errors, and ensure invoices are always addressing the legal entity correctly for each client type.

  14. On the client screen please add the facility to show the client reference and be a field that we can search on. Otherwise what is the point of the field.

  16. I have many clients with distributions from 'family trusts' as well as managed funds.
    In an individual return the details are entered or prefilled as required, but the worksheet for Item 13 Partnerships and Trusts doesn't include managed fund distribution amounts. This leads to much confusion when clients see the worksheet at Item 13 and the amounts don't match. In this case the worksheet for Item 13 needed to be added to a separate managed fund worksheet six page later - and this was a simple return.
    The worksheet at each question should show the amounts totalling the amounts reported.

  17. View salutation or an alternate name field
    As many clients are addressed by a different name other than their legal/birth name, it would be helpful to be able to view their salutation, or an alternate name, in the contact section of the client, without having to go into the contact to see this information.

  19. For the capital gain worksheet, it can't enter the number of the shares sold and bought. Most of time, the shares sold and bought will operate in different time during the year, it is more efficient to have the number shares match between sold and bought figures.

    And also can transfer the worksheet to another partner is they are 50%, reduce time to enter again.

    Hi all, we can see how improving the capital gains worksheet in Xero Tax could really streamline things.

    At the moment, there's no way to enter the number of shares bought and sold separately, even though these often happen at different times. Being able to match share quantities across transactions would make reporting more accurate and reduce manual checking.

    We've also heard similar feedback around shared ownership. A suggestion to allow copying or transferring the worksheet to another return has already been raised and is gaining support. We've added your vote to that idea to help show how useful it would be.

    Hi everyone, thanks for raising this idea. We know rental income and expenses are a key part of tax for many businesses, and it would be super helpful to have a rental property schedule within the Company Tax Return (CTR) in Xero Tax.

    At the moment, there aren’t any rental worksheets for companies in Xero Tax, because the ATO doesn’t accept rental schedules on a CTR through PLS. That means this part of the return needs to be managed outside the system — which we understand isn’t ideal.

    That said, we can see this idea is already getting some traction, and it's now in the Gaining Support stage. If this would improve your workflow, feel free to vote or add a comment. It really helps the team understand what matters most to you.
