    Currently, in Xero, the branding theme determines the payment terms and payment method for invoices and bills. While this approach works for general branding purposes, it limits flexibility when managing diverse customer or supplier requirements.

    Problem Statement:
    Many businesses have contacts with unique payment arrangements that do not align with a single branding theme. For example:

    Certain customers may require extended payment terms (e.g., 60 days) while others operate on shorter cycles (e.g., 30 days).
    Suppliers may prefer specific payment methods (e.g., EFT, credit card) that differ from the default settings.

    Hi Meehgan thanks for sharing this idea here. Appreciate having the need to have different payment terms for different contacts. While this is not an existing option in Xero, we are adding your idea to gaining support so that other members from the community are also able to add their comments and vote on this. :)

  2. In XPM when adding time through the clock, you can add the client, the job and the task that you are working on as well as add notes and mark as billable.

    It would be really useful to have a drop down for the job state as well so that this could be updated once you have worked on the job. The ability for quick job state update already exists on the Jobs Overview table so would be good to have here as well from a workflow point of view

  5. The Client Name used to be clear and in the centre of the page before the new update. Now, I forget which client I am in, and it is easy to get it mixed up with the Referral Source.

  6. In the old xero version, you could click on the contact and edit the salutation.

    This option is no longer available.
    The only way to update is to exit client, go back to clients, select contacts, search contact then edit details.
    A lot of extra steps just to add or update a salutation after a contact has been created

  7. When you have a departing group, you have to now click on the group, select the entity, click on the 3 dots and select Archive.
    This removes the entity from the group. You then have to start again and search the next entity from clients, and repeat the steps. as you cannot select back to take you back to the group.
    In the old xero version. While in the client, you would select a drop down box while in the client and select archive. Then while still in the client, you could click on the Group and select the next…

  8. It'd be helpful in some cases to provide a Staff member temporary access to a Client.
    There can be situations where a staff may only need access for a day or month and being able to set a timeframe for this and then access be removed would be helpful.

    Hi team, this idea has been created off the back of this idea to get a good understanding of the interest in specifically providing temporary Client access to a staff member.

    While this isn't somethign we have planned atm, our product team would like to get insight to consider in future planning. Thanks!

    Hi community, we've started this request to gauge specific interest in enabling staff to request access to a Client within the unified experience.

    Stemming from this original idea, this isn't something we have direct plans of at this time, but our product teams are staying close to the ground on what our practices would like to see developed and will consider this in future planning. 🙏

    Hi there,


    I can see how having pinned notes visible on the main information page would be a huge help, especially for spotting critical warnings like credit holds without having to click through different tabs.


    Currently, pinned notes are only visible when you are specifically viewing the Notes tab of a contact. As a workaround, many users add "!!!" or "HOLD" to the beginning of the Contact Name field so it is visible on every screen and summary page throughout Xero.


    I’ve moved your suggestion into Gaining Support under the following title: Contacts - Suggestion for improvement: Display Pinned Notes on the contact information summary page


    This will allow other members to vote on the request and help our product teams gauge the demand for this UI change.

  11. XPM Notes - Restore date and time details.

    With the new changes to notes in XPM it now shows an approximate timeframe ie- a month ago, 2 months ago.

    It no longer shows an actual time stamp on the note to know when it was created or when it was edited...

    We use the notes section to record ATO interactions and being able to give them an exact date is much more effective than to say about 2 months ago. Especially when they haven't met their requirements with solving issues.

  12. Previously, checkbox options were all visible, without clicking.

    Now I have to click and see the options (extra clicks, I don't want extra clicks).

    Previously, I could click Opt Out and it would opt out... now I have to uncheck 3 x boxes (extra clicks, I don't want extra clicks). If I wanted to opt in, I could uncheck Opt Out and it would opt in... now I have to check 3 x boxes (extra clicks, I don't want extra clicks).

    What is it about making the product more efficient, not less efficient, do you not understand?

  13. One example.. editing Client details, there is a Title field, it is a dropdown box with heaps of options.

    It should be possible to type something into the field to filter the results.

  14. Xero Tax pulls in the dates for the accounts from Companies House and assumes that the dates for the tax return will be the same. This might not always be the case - my example is due to the leap year causing problems

    I filed returns to Companies House and HMRC to include 29 Feb as the guidance suggested using my previous software. This was all accepted fine but now I am unable to file a CT600 using Xero tax because Companies House have the year starting on 29 Feb but HMRC have it on 1 Mar.

  15. There is currently no option in XPM to build a report that shows the GST returns that have not been created yet. Whilst this is possible using the [Client] Tax Return Status field for Financial year end returns, it is not possible for GST returns.

    For practices needing to file 100s of GST returns for various clients each month. Having the ability to see, for a given period, whether any GST filings were missed would be extremely helpful.

    Hi David, we appreciate your idea about GST return tracking in XPM. Being able to create a custom report to view GST returns that haven’t been done yet would be really helpful, especially for practices managing high volumes of returns.

  16. Prior to the new XPM update, viewing a group provided a detailed breakdown of each client's business structure. The new layout simplifies this into broad categories (individual, company, trust, partnership, other), meaning you now have to click into each client to see the specific details. For example, 'other' represents a range of options such as departing client, on hold due to non-payment, or a non-client entity. This makes it harder to understand a client's status at a glance.   17. It would be great to bring back the collapsible custom fields in XPM when editing client details. This previously made it much easier to jump between headings. With the new tabbed layout, all custom fields now appear in one long list with no distinction between headings, which means a lot more scrolling to find the fields we need to update.

  18. Could we get a PAYG Instalment worksheet please, with an option to tick if a client is a new entrant to the PAYG instalment system and a field where we can enter the expected lodgement date of the tax return. These fields can then drive the PAYG instalment estimate for the current financial year.
    Currently Xero just estimates the instalments for the four quarters which isn't always correct. For example if we lodge a return in November and the client is entering the PAYG instalment system for the first time, there's no way to zero out the September quarter without…

  19. I note that when I am in the "Clients" and other tabs the top two toolbars (green and white) disappear when scrolling. It is very annoying that you can't see the client's name and other tabs at a glance. Is it possible that these two toolbars can remain static?

  20. With the new layout the old reports - even the customisable ones do not have all these new fields that can be chosen and exported.

    Eg there are now multiple phone fields which is great but I use this data to export to my phone system but now I cant.
