  1. Hi Xero Team,

We need a new customer statement format that functions as a "traditional" detailed ledger.

The Problem: The current "Activity Statement" is focused on allocations. It shows which invoices are paid or unpaid and portion of payments made to the invoice, but it does not show the payment transactions themselves as separate line items.

For example, if a customer makes one large payment of R5,000 to clear three invoices, the current statement splits this payment up as their parts to the invoice. The customer cannot see their R5,000 payment listed as a single transaction. This is confusing for…

Hi Jasmine, thanks for sharing this idea with us. We can see why this would be helpful for some users. Currently, Xero offers the Customer Invoice Activity and the Contacts "Activity statement" . While this information is available on the account transaction report, it is not available in a Statement format. We've moved this idea to Gaining support so that other users who want this idea implemented can vote for it as well. You may share this idea with your colleagues to get more traction!

  2. It would be helpful to have a Quick View option for uploaded pictures or screenshots, allowing users to preview attachments without downloading them.

Hey Mandy, thanks for asking Anchal to raise this as an Idea for review. As Anchal and the Product team have conveyed this is being looked at currently (Balance Sheet addition to Partnership filings) and there will be updates as this progresses. The client address is not something we are looking at currently as it is not mandatory for HMRC or Companies House.

  4. In the Activity Statement screen, in the transaction detail, the contact column should be in there so we can sort per contact and analyze the contact's gst application consistency. This is very beneficial in terms of reviewer task.

  5. When XPM search finds a client, you can click the arrow > to the right of a result to view the client's name, basic contact details, enter time, etc. For clients that have a linked Xero file, it would be great to be able to click "Go to Xero" from here as well.

Hey Chris, thanks for raising this Idea and we are excited to say that with the new PartnerHub release you will be able to click the Go to Xero option as XPM and XHQ come together in a new platform. You can find out more about the upcoming release here.

  6. Please can you make it possible to add manual transactions to the "tax statement" that will show up in the tax return.

We often did this with MYOB, eg. adding a penalty that we know will be charged after the tax return has been filed, or changing a late filing penalty from $50 to $250 if the client's income is more than $100k (as this will be updated at IRD after the return is filed).

At the moment it looks like we can only edit the pdf which is very disappointing...

Thanks for adding this request to our Ideas Kathryn. We have looked at this with current NZ Tax compliance in mind and for transparency this is not something we are looking into at this time. We appreciate it is something others may see as beneficial so other users are able to vote in this.

  8. NZ Tax 50/50 split to automatically prevent INC return from filing before P1 date. When selecting 50/50 split in the XPM Statements area, the INC return automatically drops all P1 payment details from the Income Tax payment schedule. It also suppresses the P1 tax notice from XPM Payments area.

Can it also stop the filing of the Income Tax return until after the P1 due date, or put a warning in the Audit Check that 50/50 has been selected and the filing date is not set.

Hi Sharon, thanks for sharing your thoughts on NZ Tax filing controls. It’s really helpful to hear how automatic filing prevention could support your 50/50 split workflows.

At the moment, Xero Tax doesn’t automatically hold returns before P1, so timing still needs to be managed manually. Some practices choose to set a future Tax Return File Date in XPM, which delays filing until the date they’ve chosen, though we know this won’t suit every setup.

We’ve moved this idea to Gaining support, and it’s now open for the wider community to join the conversation. If you’re open to it, adding a little more detail about your workflow could help others see where this makes a difference.

For anyone else following along, we’d love to hear your experiences too. The more perspectives we gather, the better we can understand the need. Looking forward to seeing the discussion grow.

  9. Box 29 of the IR10 should match the taxable income per the main income tax return (IR3, IR4, IR6, IR7, etc).

It would be helpful if when running an audit check on a tax return, XPM checks to see whether they match and notifies us when it does not match.

    Thanks!

Hi Caeden, thanks for sharing your idea about IR10 validation. It’s great to understand how automatically matching Box 29 with the main tax return could make audit workflows smoother.

The community team has reviewed this and moved it to Gaining support, so it’s now open for votes and comments. If you’d like to see this in action, sharing a bit more about how you’d use it in your practice could help others understand its value.

We’d also love to hear from anyone else with thoughts or experiences around this as it helps our team understand the impact. We’ll keep you updated as the idea develops.

  10. The Xero XPM system calculates GST for each task being billed, but it doesn’t have a total GST check at the invoice level. As a result, some invoices with round billed amounts—such as $30,000—end up with incorrectly rounded GST, for example, $2,999.99. Xero calculates GST on each line item of invoices and other transactions, rounding to the nearest cent. The total GST is then the sum of these individual line calculations, which can sometimes lead to small discrepancies in the overall GST amount.
While Xero doesn't currently offer a total GST validation feature at the invoice level, we would appreciate…

Hi Martin, thanks for sharing your idea about GST validation in XPM invoicing. It’s really helpful to hear how a total GST check could help prevent rounding discrepancies.

The community team has reviewed this and moved it to Gaining support, so it’s now open for votes and comments. If this is something you’d like to see, joining the conversation is a great way to help bring it to the product team’s attention.

  11. Whenever a link is attached in Xero Workpapers, and that link changes or gets deleted, there should be an option to simply edit or replace the existing link — instead of having to delete it and add a new one each time. The current process causes unnecessary delays when preparing workpapers.

Hi team, I’ve got some updates on the Edit Link - Not Delete Right Away feature for Xero Workpapers. This is a confirmed feature for the new Xero Workpapers solution and is currently in development as part of the new Workpapers solution being developed in partnership with BGL and in the upcoming roadmap. The goal is to address a major workflow pain point that was raised directly from customer feedback. The plan is for a phased rollout, starting with Australia in FY26, Updates on the release will be shared through the Xero blog as we get closer to launch. This feature is part of a broader set of improvements focused on enhancing review, collaboration, and compliance within the new platform. ⭐

  13. It would be helpful if you could move the job information sections into any order (and this is default for all jobs & Clients). The main focus when we open a job is to review the tasks and these are way down the bottom. At the very least the default job information layout could be that all the sections are closed and you can open the section you want without have to scroll down all the time.

  14. Currently the Client Title on a printed or downloaded tax return shows in all uppercase even though the fields in XPM & Tax are proper case. Would like this to be an option to choose so that the text is consistent eg either all uppercase or proper case.

Hi Zoe, thanks for sharing this idea about adding a thin capitalisation reminder in Xero Tax AU. We appreciate you highlighting how an automated prompt could support tax preparers when interest expenses exceed the $2M threshold. We've reviewed your idea and it's now moved to Gaining Support, which means it's open for community support through votes and comments. We'd love to hear from others in the community who might benefit from this type of compliance reminder, so please continue to share your thoughts and vote if this resonates with your practice needs.

  16. To stop the autocorrection for daylight saving in the Timer. I know only happens twice a year, but is very frustrating trying to enter time when the Timer keeps adding (or removing) an hour from the time entered. For example - when enter 09.00 in the Start time, jumps to 10.00; then when enter 10.00 in End time, both the Start and End time jump to 11.00.
Please can have corrected so the time does not autocorrect.

  17. Previously when a job was created in XPM from ignition, a hyperlink was created to the proposal inside the XPM job. We always click this to access the proposal and issue the invoice when finalsing. This link is now converted to plain text which requires either copying and pasting or opening ignition and manually browsing to the proposal.
Would be great to have this functionality restored.

  18. Please add a column or filter to the XPM Job Manager screen for client Groups. There is currently no column/filter for client group in the job manager screen in XPM - which means if you want to see all the jobs for a client group - e.g. Alf Barbagallo - have to search each entity individually. Also means cannot easily do a bulk update for all jobs in a client group.

✨ Appreciate you raising this, Julie! We understand how adding a client group filter to Job Manager would speed things up and cut the back-and-forth. In the meantime, a quick workaround: press Ctrl + F (Cmd + F on Mac) and type the client’s name into your browser’s search box to jump to matching entries on the page. Your idea is now in gaining support, so it’s open for votes and comments. If you can, please share it with colleagues who’d benefit—more support helps us gauge impact and prioritise what matters most.

Hi YiLing thanks for sharing this idea. Currently Xero allows the ability to use draft returns and the "Estimate" tab for basic scenario testing. For complex scenarios, it is recommended to use ATO calculators and compare results manually. We will move this idea to Gaining support and monitor for more traction from users.

  20. We have some companies and trusts with characters such as hyphens in their legal names. However, Xero Tax does not allow us to distribute directly to these entities due to these characters in their names.

Our current work around is entering the beneficiaries' details manually, but then the distribution does not flow directly to the beneficiaries' returns.

I think this may be a ATO limitation. However, in other tax programs I have used, I was able to use an alternate name so the distribution could still be directly linked to the beneficiaries return. I would like a similar feature in…

✨ Hi Chloe — thanks for taking the time to share this idea.We appreciate the practical suggestion to support an alternate name approach while keeping the correct legal name on file. We have moved this Idea to Gaining Support so we can gauge customer sentiment across AU Xero Tax and connected areas.

Please keep the conversation going and encourage colleagues to add context, this helps us prioritise the right improvements for partners and practices.
