  1. The process for entering addresses for clients needs to be easier and more streamlined. It should default to Australia (the overwhelming majority of clients have Australian addresses). You should also be able to copy street address to postal address, rather than having to reenter the data.

Hi Megan, thanks for your feedback on the new Partner Hub experience when entering client addresses. Your input is valuable to and appreciated. We have moved this idea to Gaining Support and the Product team will be looking over all the feedback from our customers/partners so they can get a better idea of the experience and functionality of the new platform. Thanks again for sharing this with us.

  2. Xero sign in document packs - you currently need to manually input the client's details to add their signature for each document pack (for docs with no auto signing feature like tax returns).

It would be great if there was an option to simply select a client from XPM as all the details are already there (First name/Last name/Email)

Hi everyone ✨ Thanks for sharing your feedback on this idea. We appreciate the time taken to do this and we would like to be completely transparent around this Idea. Your continued votes and comments help us understand the impact and prioritize improvements that matter most to you.

  3. In Xero Practice Manager, we can view the ATO prefill PAYG Instalment amounts for each client individually. Is it possible for XPM to create a report or export option that allows us to download the full ATO prefill PAYGI list for all clients at once?

Hi Tanya, thanks so much for your feedback on PAYG Instalment reporting in XPM. We really appreciate you taking the time to share how a bulk export of ATO prefill data would help your practice.

We’ve reviewed your idea and moved it to Gaining Support, which means it’s now open for the community to vote on and add their own comments. If you’re able to share a bit more about your workflow, it might encourage others to jump in with their experiences too, and give the product team a clearer picture of the need.

We’ll keep you updated on any progress.

  4. When exporting invoices from XPM to Xero it should by default export the client name, address, email address and contact number.

Currently it only exports the client name and postal address, and contact name, email and phone number (but only if that contact is NOT a client in XPM and only if you select that contact when preparing the invoice - forget the contact and you are back at square one.).

If we have an individual as a client in XPM, and send this client an invoice: currently XPM will only export an email and phone number if we add…

Thanks for the comprehensive and exhaustive idea around how contact and client details could be included when invoices are synched from XPM to Xero blue. As you may know there is a new platform (PartnerHub) which you may be aware of, and will be released fully in the near future. You may find that the issue is covered in the new experience. We will move this to Gaining Support so the community can get behind this add their votes and comments.

  5. Recently we had a client who sold their property, which triggered a CGT event. The property was initially their main residence, however this ceased once the property commenced being rented out. Therefore, a partial main residence exemption applies, however Xero Tax doesn't currently provide a code to acknowledge this scenario, once providing a main residence exemption code (see attachment). For enhanced clarity, it would arguably be useful if such a code was provided, so the gross capital gain can be apportioned between the amount subject to CGT & amount subject to the full MRE.

Thanks so much for sharing your feedback on adding a Partial Main Residence Exemption code to the CGT Worksheet in Xero Tax.

As you know, right now, the best workaround is to manually adjust either the Capital proceeds or Cost base in the worksheet. This helps ensure the correct Net capital gain flows through to Item 18A, and still lets you use Exemption Code I. We know it’s not ideal, and it’s exactly the kind of thing you want a built-in solution for.

We’ve reviewed the idea and moved it to Gaining Support, which means it’s now open for more votes and discussion. Community support plays a big part in helping our product team understand the need. We’ll update the thread if anything changes.

  7. Adding additional formatting options for reports so that we could fit reports to one page when exporting to PDF. Too many financials currently export with one or two line on the last page. This creates messy looking financials that are too many pages.

  8. AU 100% GST on Imports - this function needs to be improved. It's 2025 and we are still required to do manual adjustments for GST on imports to get the correct result. It shouldn't be this difficult!

Hi Ryu, thanks for sharing this idea here. Appreciate that you're wanting to see improvements in the way 100% GST on import is recorded in Xero. 9. We have set up tracking categories in xero - one for Land & property and one for Self employment. I want to be able to import the data in to their tax return. I normally generate on xero tax the xero sole trader accounts to then be able to import these into the tax return. However, when i do the sole trader accounts, it pull through all information - L&P & SE. I only want the SE bit so i can add this to the SE section on the tax return. I have asked xero support if there is a…

Thanks for sharing this idea. We appreciate you explaining how filtering sole trader account data by tracking category could support your tax preparation workflow.

As you've mentioned, tracking categories will be utilised to support multiple businesses for MTD for IT, however this isn't available with Xero Tax for sole trader accounts preparation.

  10. Enable full visibility of Contacts when accessing via Additional Contacts area in Client screen.

Currently, when we access a Contact via the Additional Contacts section of the Client screen, not all contact fields are displayed.

Furthermore, when editing or adding a new contact, we cannot edit or access all the contact details. We cannot add or edit Mobile numbers or custom fields for Contacts. To access these, we have to exit the Client screen and access Contacts separately via Clients > Contacts.

This adds a lot of extra steps that can be avoided by ensuring full visibility and full access…

  11. Add functionality to merge client accounts used to access previously signed returns (via portal.xero.com). This would ensure that when a client updates their email address, their full record of signed tax returns remains intact and accessible through a single login with the new email. This eliminates the need to log in with multiple accounts to view the complete history of signed returns.

  12. We enter company number, company UTR number, director name when setting up client but why does this not get processed when preparing the company accounts and tax. We need to enter the company number, Company UTR number, Companies House authorisation code and director signing the return every time we want to use XERO tax. Surely there must be a way to simplify this so entering this information every time is a thing of the past.

  13. We need the ability to prepare a future tax return for a SMSF as this is required to wind up a fund prior to year end. A trustee company can't be deregistered with the ASIC until a final tax return is lodged with the tax office so the time delay in preparing a future return impacts the client on annual company statements and costs associated with that as well.

The ability to prepare a future year return in Xero tax exists for other entity types but not SMSF's for some reason.

  14. When data is imported from Xero HQ or a client’s Xero ledger into Xero Tax, the system automatically appends the Chart of Accounts code to the account name e.g. “Sales (400), even when the underlying Chart of Accounts name field does not contain the code.

While this improves traceability, it creates unnecessary clutter in the tax return view and workpapers, especially where codes are not relevant for presentation to clients.

Users also cannot rename or hide the codes within the Xero Tax interface.

I request that a feature be included where you can add an option (checkbox or setting) within…

  15. Low Value Pool:

Xero has locked the entry of low value figures taken from Quantity Surveyors Report for rental properties in tax - item D6 and insists on creating low value pool schedule by entering the asset.
Per advice I received from specialist, I entered the figures and date from the beginning of low value pool e.g. 01/07/2019 with starting amount of $431.00. The following errors and issues come up:
    1. The calculated amount was $162 which was claimed five years ago
    2. On validation Xero gives error and asks for a date in current year i.e. between 01/07/2024 to…

Thanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you. It is recommended that for assets purchased in the current year, enter the date they were first used; otherwise, leave that field blank. Also, note that the Xero Tax Low Value Pool is not a comprehensive asset register and therefore does not record the original purchase cost. We've added this idea to Gaining support and it is up to the community to get behind it and support it.

  16. We have multiple Practices with multiple organisations. To add JAX to every single organisation is not even fathomable. A feature that allows users to enable JAX for multiple organisation is needed, it doesn't have to be from Xero HQ, possibly even My Xero would work.

Thanks for sharing here, Quazar. We're paying close attention to the feedback we're receiving about JAX and I'll be sure to share this back with the team.

In the meantime it'll be good to get a sense of other practices that'd find this useful here too.

  17. I am hoping it might be possible to create a default for the Agent setting. If this were possible, when we add new clients onto XPM, the Agent field would default to our Agent details, as we only have one Agent to select from.

  18. Currently estimates/quotes require a specific amount of time to be allocated against a specific task for a specific staff member. We need either notifications when total unbilled WIP for a client reaches x amount OR to be able to create a quote/estimate for a total dollar figure across all tasks and staff, and have notifications set when that figure (or % thereof) is reached. This feature is standard in most timekeeping programs and I'm shocked XPM doesn't have it.

Thanks for raising your idea with us here, Elanor. We understand how notifications to draw attention when a budgeted figure is exceeded would be useful. For the time being we're watching the interest on this idea, but will share if there are any plans made around this.
