  1. Companies House sync - Client Onboarding

Would like to see a Companies House sync for this. Our current PM system has this facility and it saves so much time (and is accurate). Also used as a check when submitting annual CS01 forms. We are considering moving to XPM and this would seal the deal

  3. We enter company number, company UTR number, director name when setting up client but why does this not get processed when preparing the company accounts and tax. We need to enter the company number, Company UTR number, Companies House authorisation code and director signing the return every time we want to use XERO tax. Surely there must be a way to simplify this so entering this information every time is a thing of the past.

  4. The Chart of Accounts interface within the client's Xero organisation displays a limitation of 200 accounts per page. This necessitates frequent clicks of the 'Next' button, which can be inefficient. It is believed that the Xero Product Team could enhance this feature to allow the display of an unlimited number of accounts on a single page, mirroring the functionality currently available in the Chart of Accounts template within Xero HQ.

Thanks for sharing in the community here. While we appreciate there are some organisation's that have a large number of accounts, the current 200 limit per page is sufficient for majority of organisations to see their full list of accounts and we don't have plans for extending this.

  5. Why can't Xero automatically file signed returns once the client has signed the document? Should be a fairly simple update for Xero to manage automatic filing instead of a person having to tick all and click file. Has this ever been considered? Knowing the suspend date is used to hold back a lodgement.

We understand you are interested in a return filing automatically with ATO once your client has signed the return. For now, the process remains that a partner needs to click 'File' in Xero Tax after the client has completed their e-signature. This is because the client-signing process happens through a Portal and not in Xero Tax,, and the final action of lodging the return is designed to be a deliberate, conscious step taken by the practice. We have no immediate plans to change this workflow. The current separation of the signing and filing steps is an intentional part of our design, ensuring the final lodgment is a secure and authorised action from the tax agent.

  6. Development of new functionality to meet the new FRS 102/105 requirements following from the FRC Periodic Review. Key changes are around income recognition to be based on delivery (known as the 5-step model), and an on-balance sheet treatment for operating leases.

These requirements apply to accounting periods beginning on or after 1st January 2026,

For the income recognition, the functionality would ideally be embedded in invoicing (and potentially products and services), and this would lead to the correct bookkeeping including disaggregation and recognition of income on delivery, as well as contract debtors and creditors. This new requirement applies to all…

Thanks for sharing through product ideas, here Neal. This is something our product team are currently evaluating. For now we'll move your idea to In discovery and as soon as I have more updates I'll let you know.

  7. Allow us to access Xero Tax in advance of the year end - company and self assessment - as it stands we cannot even set up the details/schedules we know we will need. In other software you could load up the information before the year end date had passed to give the client an estimate of tax liability as the year progresses. Furthermore, this allows you to load information as you receive it - e.g. Company Director dividends to self assessments as you complete company accounts

  8. Make a schedule for allocating partner income and tax credits allocations with a total giving the ability to allocate income on the one page. Currently you have to go into each partner schedule. There is not always an even split of income and with many partner entities it is very time consuming.

  10. Currently estimates/quotes require a specific amount of time to be allocated against a specific task for a specific staff member. We need either notifications when total unbilled WIP for a client reaches x amount OR to be able to create a quote/estimate for a total dollar figure across all tasks and staff, and have notifications set when that figure (or % thereof) is reached. This feature is standard in most timekeeping programs and I'm shocked XPM doesn't have it.

Thanks for raising your idea with us here, Elanor. We understand how notifications to draw attention when a budgeted figure is exceeded would be useful. For the time being we're watching the interest on this idea, but will share if there are any plans made around this.

  11. Please add a column for a client IRD/tax number to the client list view in XPM to save having to drill into each client to find it.

  12. It would be beneficial for a warning to show to complete label 13U tax losses to be carried forward and/or when a losses schedule is required in a Trust or Company tax return when there has been a tax loss for the current year. This would reduce the risk that this label is inadvertently omitted.

  13. Automated reminder for Xero Sign Bundle expiration
I have just been caught out again with expiry of unused transactions in my signing pack of 150. Instead of being cut off at expiry date or having to remember to go and look it up could there just be an automated reminder. Also, for us small sole traders it would be great to have smaller bundles than 150, even 50 at a time. Even better, why not let us use all of our transactions we have paid for. Still need an automated message that they have expired.

Hi Angela, thanks for letting us know an automated reminder for your Xero Sign bundles would be a huge help, and we really appreciate you bringing this idea to our attention. For now, the best way to stay on top of your usage is to manually check your remaining transactions and the expiry date in Xero HQ > Xero Sign. A good workaround is to set up your own calendar reminder 🗓️ to check in on your bundle regularly. This will help you avoid any last-minute surprises. Right now, an automated notification for expiring Xero Sign bundles isn't on our immediate roadmap. However, your feedback is incredibly valuable and helps us understand which features are most important to you. We'll be sure to keep you in the loop on any changes to the status of this idea. 🔄

  14. It would be important to be able to edit the payment option available for a specific contact. Example: I have an international client that I would prefer if they did not get the option to pay their invoices with credit card. That would be useful to edit this within their contact settings so I don't have to manually change each of their invoices.

Hey Fanie, thanks for your engagement and for sharing this excellent idea for managing customer payment options.

We've reviewed your suggestion to be able to set specific payment options within a contact's settings, and it's now open to gain support from other community members. We can definitely see how this would save time by removing the need to manually edit each invoice for certain clients, like your international customer example.

Hi Alexandra, thanks for sharing your idea about being able to schedule the time to send a document pack.

We can see how having more control over when document packs are sent would be useful in managing your client communications more effectively. While this idea is still new, it’s been reviewed by our community team and is now marked as Gaining Support.

At this stage, we’re keeping the idea open to see how much interest it gathers—so if others would find this helpful too, please feel free to add your vote or leave a comment to share how it would benefit your workflow.

We're thankful for you sharing the changes that could make using Xero Tax more impactful for you and your clients, Doina.

As you've mentioned 2 separate reports I've split your idea so we can get an understanding of the community interest in each and keep you updated if there are any plans made.

I've renamed this one specifically for a detailed Balance Sheet and you'll find another for a detailed Profit & Loss over here.

  17. We'd like the ability to import job budgets at the time of importing new jobs. The budget field seems to be a standard field for jobs, so I see there would be no reason we can't add the budget at the same time of the import.

  19. When making distributions to beneficiaries, we are able to distribute more than the income type recorded i.e. if there is $1,000 of interest income you can distribute $10,000 of interest income to a beneficiary if there are other types of income and it doesn't put the total at keypoint 21B in the return to a negative figure. It would be helpful if the over distribution of interest was picked up by the audit check.

  20. Currently NZ clients can make payments to a Tax Pooling provider (e.g. Tax Traders or TMNZ) and they will sit in the Tax Pooling Providers account until transferred to IRD.
In the clients mind they have 'paid this tax' already, but when the tax return is prepared in XPM there is no sign of any tax pooling payments, and it shows the full tax liability.

It would be great if there was a way to type in how much has been paid to Tax Pooling, and record this on the front page of the tax return so there is a…

Thank you for this excellent and detailed suggestion regarding NZ tax returns and tax pooling payments.

We can certainly see how clients would find it confusing when their prepared tax return in XPM doesn't reflect payments they have already made to a provider like TMNZ or Tax Traders. Your idea to add a note or a specific field on the return to record this amount would be a great way to provide clarity and manage client expectations.
