  1. It would be great if ALL users (ie practice staff) in Xero HQ could see all Xero files. It should be obvious on the list which are accessible and which are not (ie if you didn't have access, the Xero org name could be greyed out)

    In terms of access, if a particular staff member did not have access to a Xero file, they should be able to request access from a HQ Administrator (with mange user access of course) which can be granted easily. Would be handy to have a 'Why' comment field so the approver knows the context…

  2. There should be a comparative report available for New Zealand tax returns. This already exists for Australian tax returns. It is an excellent feature that really assists with preparing returns and avoiding missing details from prior years. I would love to see this feature available for New Zealand tax returns. Thank you.

    Hi Emile, we're grateful for your engagement and for sharing this excellent idea to use comparatives in a return in NZ Tax. We agree that having a feature like this, similar to what's available for Australian tax returns, would be a fantastic tool to help ensure accuracy and streamline the preparation of returns.

  3. When using the field [Client] Group(s) as a criteria in step 3 of report builder, you can only specify the relevant client group name in the text field. There's currently no functionality for a drop down list of client groups to select from similar to the clients field. Requesting this as an option

  5. Provide an option under the client group to bill wip that's under multiple clients in the group with one invoice.

    At the moment it appears this can only be done under Invoices in the Business menu. Under the client group itself, while an invoice can be created for multiple jobs for one client, you can't create a single invoice to bill wip that's under multiple clients in the group.

  7. We have just been advised that we cannot allocate write off/on to jobs rather against individuals or apportioned across those who have charged time to the job. At times, jobs are short quoted for reasons and it's unfair to impact someone's recoverability due to business decisions. There has to be a way to record such write offs without impacting staff or teams time directly rather recoverability of the job.

  8. Add option for second week under XPM capacity settings to allow for 9-day fortnight. With the current setup only allowing for one week, this impacts the staff KPI reporting rendering it bascially a useless feature.

  9. Development of new functionality to meet the new FRS 102/105 requirements following from the FRC Periodic Review. Key changes are around income recognition to be based on delivery (known as the 5-step model), and an on-balance sheet treatment for operating leases.

    Thanks for sharing through product ideas, here Neal. This is something our product team are currently evaluating. For now we'll move your idea to In discovery and as soon as I have more updates I'll let you know.

    1. The functionality to format text with bold, italics, and underlining.

    2. The ability to apply multiple highlight colours to text, as well as different font types and colours.

    3. The retention of multiple paragraphs within the 'Ask' feature is necessary. The current limitation, which merges all paragraphs of a question into a single block of text upon sending queries to clients, may lead to confusion and diminished clarity in communication.

While we don't have a perfect workaround for formatting, as noted by others in the comments, many of you have found that using a clear, simple structure and capitalizing words can help emphasize key points.   10. In Xero HQ, it would be helpful if the "Manage Users" permission were optional for Admin staff—or if there were an additional permission level between "Admin" and "Standard," similar to QBO's "Standard - All Access" role where you can toggle on and off several higher permissions.

  11. I am finding the inconsistent implementation of the new Xero style mixed in with the old incredibly frustrating. The new style screens are slow to load & enter data, the tabbing and typing a few letters then hitting return either doesn't work (add payment) or is inconsistent between screens, entering a new customer on the fly is frustrating because you can't enter all the information at once & still have to open the full contact edit screen to complete it, also the new contact pop up doesn't autopopulate addresses as you type, the send remittance button disappears if you get…

    Hi everyone, sorry we've not responded here sooner. As we upgrade technology we are mindful of the impact this can have for our customers. We understand changing features and learning new flows and the ways of performing some actions can be a big transition for customers.

    In particular, as mentioned in your feedback here with new invoicing. To support as much as possible during this time, we're providing lots of information through means of blogs, education and guides on Xero Central.

    We're also continuing to iterate and develop new features into new invoicing that we know our customers want.

    An example of this are recent improvements we made to the 'Contact' field adding the ability to look up your contact address, edit or add the Attention field, and adding more address lines.

  12. Due to issues with staff editing recurring jobs but not updating the job name and/or description I would like to see the staff permissions for recurring jobs amended to have a dropdown list so we can limit staff access to editing recurring jobs but leave access to view, create and delete in the same way as with clients.

There needs to be functionality to have multiple trusts or superfunds with the same name i.e. Smith Family Trust or Brown Family Superannuation Fund, as ATO does no require these to be unique, without causing issue with invoices in Blue Xero or having to change the name in XPM to differentiate and have to change the name again each time you lodge. Same name trusts and superfunds is not uncommon.

  14. The ability to bulk upload/import Recurring Jobs via .csv file, in the same way you can Bulk Import Jobs that are not recurring.

    This allows for each row to have the copy/paste capacity for overlapping criteria and can be quickly created through a spreadsheet (which could stem from an Export of your client list to 'schedule' your job creation throughout the year).

    One import for an entire client base would be considerably more streamlined and efficient.

  15. Within the report code descriptions, identifying which IR10 Key Point for NZ tax the report code will feed through to.

    E.g.
    Non-deductible entertainment will go to "Box/Key Point 24 - Other Expenses" and "Box 28 Tax Adjustments"

    This will give a little bit more visibility as to where each item will end up, particularly for the balance sheet.

    If you can segregate this visibility to NZ only files as well, that would be beneficial for other countries not getting information not relevant for them.

  16. Allow for Bank Transfers between two different currency bank accounts via the Xero API.
    This is a fundamental and common use case for bank transfers, and is available within the product, but not available within the Xero API. Please make this available to your API users and business partners.

  17. When creating a new workpaper pack, clients appearing under the Organisation dropdown is taken from XPM (as a one-way sync).

    It isn't possible to delete duplicate clients in Workpapers, even once they've been removed from XPM and the information has been synced again.

    The downside is that the Permanent workpaper isn't brought forward from LY and there's no sync to XPM (as it's connected to the true client record).

    The workaround is to edit the client name in the Settings (by putting a DNU or ZZ in the name), save it, then delete that Workpaper.

    Hi Anthony, thanks for submitting this detailed idea for improving Xero Workpapers.

    We can certainly see how having duplicate clients appear in the organisation list would be frustrating, especially when it prevents permanent files from being brought forward correctly. Your suggestion to have a two-way sync with XPM or the ability to directly archive or delete these duplicates makes a lot of sense.

  18. Could xero consider reducing the size of text/fonts on the screen. I don't need super extra large enormous text to do my work. Everyone walking past or coming to speak with me can read my screen and see bank details and values, employee names and $ amount and so the list goes on. I have already asked if there can be a bland landing page so that bank accounts (Including balances) are NOT the default screen. Anyone standing nearby can see this information when Xero starts. Both of matters limit confidentiality and most users don't need this sort of exaggerated…

  19. AUTOMATIC SUBMISSION OF A RETURN WITH THE "DEFERRAL" DATE ALLOCATED

    It is a critical feature on a system we transition from to XERO tax, to be able to allocate to a finalized return a deferred date for the submission. On such and such date, all returns with that date and tag then come up, and with a touch of a single button all go to the ATO at the same time.
