Report Templates - Add GST reports
It would be good if any report you can already run in Xero could be added to a report template - this would include GST reports (activity statement and GST reconciliation), payroll reports etc. That way instead of having to manually extract each of these reports for each client we can just do it in bulk through one report template.
26 votesThanks for sharing your idea to include GST reports in report templates.
We can see how this would be a real time-saver, especially when you’re building out report packs for clients or internal teams. There’s clearly a strong appetite for this feature, and we understand why. Being able to add GST reports directly into templates would simplify the process of creating complete, consistent report packs for any purpose.
This idea is now in the Gaining Support stage. That means it's open for voting and comments, and we’ll continue to monitor interest from the community. Your input helps inform how we prioritise future updates to Xero. We’ll keep you posted here with any developments.

NZ Tax - Need taxable income field available for reporting
We need to run a report showing the taxable income of all our individual clients (from the tax returns filed), to find those that are over the maximum liable earnings for ACC.
From there we check for clients who may have had more than one employer and therefore paid more than the maximum ACC levies, so we can contact ACC for a refund.
When we were using MYOB, taxable income was a field included in the tax letter reports so we could download and filter from there.
Apparently there is no way to get this data out of Xero, as…
1 voteHi Kathryn, thanks again for sharing this idea.
I can see why having taxable income available in reporting would be useful, especially when you need to identify clients who may be over the ACC maximum liable earnings threshold and then follow up on any possible refunds.
We’re moving this idea to Gaining support so others in the Community can vote for it and add their use cases. That helps us keep an eye on interest and better understand the impact this would have for practices using NZ Tax.
If anyone else in your practice would benefit from this, please encourage them to add their support and comments too.

XPM - Set date to run Aged Debtor Report
Ability to run an Aged Debtors Report of what debts clients owed us at a certain date in XPM. For example, we want to see what our clients owed us at 30/06/25, however the Standard Report (Aged Balance Report) can't be run to a certain date and if we create our own Report in Report Builder it removes clients from the report if they have paid since 01/07/25 and now owe nothing. We need these figures to do clients Financials and also for our own Practice reporting. We can run it in Xero Blue however we don't have the ability…

XPH | Jobs - Show all activity statements (inc. lodged)
Since the change to the partner hub, this has disappeared.
I cannot be the only one who accessed activity statements from the job and not the tax returns tab?
They disappear into the tax return tab abyss now.
3 votesThanks for your feedback on how you use Jobs to access Activity statements, Kerrie. Good to have this understanding here and we'll see if there is a wider base of our community this resonates with too.
If we make any plans to change the way activity statements are shown on jobs I'll let you know, here.

AU Tax - Improve the validation error experience
I had a validation error CMN.ATO.DISTBENTRT.000013 generated in an SMSF tax return.
When I clicked on the validation error it took me to a specific trust income schedule (number 10 of 18), which had several fields highlighted. The error says that there must be a number in any of the fields A B D U and so on - this schedule met this condition.
After much wasted time trying to re-enter fields, checking there were no blank spaces, deleting and re-entering all fields, deleting and re-entering the whole schedule, I contacted support.
It turns out the error was actually generated…31 votesHi Vicki, we're grateful for your detailed suggestion of how to improve the validation error linking and highlighting experience in AU Tax.
We'll continue to monitor the level of support this idea receives from the community. Thanks again for your contribution.

AU Tax - Option to show TFN when printing return at any time
At the moment, we can only print the tax return to show the TFN before changing the status to out-for-sign. The option should be available at all times to enable printing the tax return with the TFN when required. We have received a few requests from banks asking for the tax return with the TFN, but we aren't able to reprint it once it is lodged.
1 voteHi Ribert, thanks for highlighting this. We can see how being able to print or download a lodged tax return with the TFN visible could be helpful when clients need to provide documents to banks or other third parties.
Currently, the option to display the TFN is only available before the return progresses beyond certain stages of the workflow. Once lodged, the TFN is masked on generated copies to help protect sensitive information.
I've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest from the community. If there are particular scenarios where you regularly need to reproduce lodged returns with the TFN visible, we'd appreciate hearing more about those use cases.

Xero Tax(AU) | Worksheet to calculate number of days not liable for M2 (Medicare levy surcharge)
When some client has more than 1 health insurance policy and the period of the same are diffrent and sometime overlapping we need the work out this manually which can sometime be wrongly caluclated and can impact the tax estimates.
Xero should have a worksheet where we can enter policy details along with perioid of coverage to that it can calculae the days acurately. Similar feature is avaialble in MYOB AO and comes in very handy.
132 votesHi everyone, we appreciate how auto calculating Medicare Levy Surcharge (MLS) exempt days would help save time and reduce errors.
While our product team has reviewed this idea, and it's something we have intentions to solve in the long terms this is not roadmapped at this time.
This is something we'll continue to assess as we plan for the future of Xero tax so I'll share as soon as there are any updates on this, here. Thanks

NZ Tax - File IR3R from XPM
IRD have requested that we file a IR3R for each residential rental property. It would be great to be able to include this submission with the tax return in XPM, instead of having to file this manually via MyIR. Please update the system so that this can be submitted together with the IR3 via XPM.
1 voteThanks for sharing your idea, Kahurangi. For now we'll start to get a gauge of the wider interest for this from the community here.
We'll share if there are any updates.

Xero Tax (UK) | Add client address and balance sheet data to sa800 or partnership tax
Ability to add client address and balance sheet data to sa800 or partnership tax - raising on behalf of customer.
5 votesHey Mandy, thanks for asking Anchal to raise this as an Idea for review. As Anchal and the Product team have conveyed this is being looked at currently (Balance Sheet addition to Partnership filings) and there will be updates as this progresses. The client address is not something we are looking at currently as it is not mandatory for HMRC or Companies House.

XHQ - Filter by Staff Teams when Assigning Client Access
It would be useful to filter by staff teams when allocating access to a client in Xero.
We already have the ability to group staff into teams within Xero HQ, and it would speed up assigning access to large groups of staff members if we could use these teams when assigning access to a client in Xero HQ. This could be added to the 'Filter' option.
2 votesThanks so much for bringing this idea to our attention and taking the time to share it here 😊
We have moved this to Gaining Support as we can see the benefit of this.
This feels like a really practical improvement to the current workflow, and I can see how adding teams as part of the Filter options would make client access management much more efficient 🙌
The next step is to share this idea so more people can view it and add their comments too

XHQ - Bulk amend access to File VAT returns
It would be great if we could remove access to Filing VAT returns for staff members from all client organisations that they have access to. currently we have to go into each individual organisation to remove this.
2 votes✨ Hi everyone,
Thanks for sharing your feedback on this idea.
We appreciate you explaining how clearer control over staff VAT access would help when managing client access across Xero HQ and client organisations.
We’ve reviewed this idea and are moving it to Gaining Support. This means it’s now open for votes and comments from the wider community.
If this would help your practice, please keep voting and share any specific examples of how this would improve your workflow. That extra context is helpful for our team when assessing impact and prioritising future improvements.
We’ll continue to monitor the support this idea receives and update the thread if there’s progress to share.

Xero Practice Manager - Implement total GST validation check on invoices
The Xero XPM system calculates GST for each task being billed, but it doesn’t have a total GST check at the invoice level. As a result, some invoices with round billed amounts—such as $30,000—end up with incorrectly rounded GST, for example, $2,999.99. Xero calculates GST on each line item of invoices and other transactions, rounding to the nearest cent. The total GST is then the sum of these individual line calculations, which can sometimes lead to small discrepancies in the overall GST amount.
While Xero doesn't currently offer a total GST validation feature at the invoice level, we would appreciate…7 votesHi Martin, thanks for sharing your idea about GST validation in XPM invoicing. It’s really helpful to hear how a total GST check could help prevent rounding discrepancies.
The community team has reviewed this and moved it to Gaining support, so it’s now open for votes and comments. If this is something you’d like to see, joining the conversation is a great way to help bring it to the product team’s attention.
We’ll keep an eye on progress and share updates here as the idea develops.

Client - Add a dedicated "Trading As" field to client's record
This request is for an additional “Trading As” name (or T/A) field to be added to XERO on “Contact” level. This T/A name must then also appear on the client invoices below the entity Legal Name. This T/A field must also be available separately on Client reporting level.
Examples of current problems we are experiencing:
The “Contact name” field is used to populate the name of the entity on the Invoices and various Reporting. This "Name field" in most applications or software programs must only contain the entity formal Legal Name. As several of our clients use a "Trading As"…
1 voteHi Juanita, thanks for sharing this suggestion. We understand that when you’re managing client records, having a clear way to separate legal names from trading names can be helpful.
The suggestion here is to add a dedicated Trading As / DBA field to contact records, so this information can be stored separately and be easier to find when managing invoices, statements, and client details.
We’ve moved this to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest and gather more examples from practices that use trading names as part of their day-to-day workflows.

XPM - Return Type IR4J for Reporting
Including IR4J as a Return Type in report builder - Reposting
when we have a report that we would want to specify the type of return e.g. ir3, ir4 there does not seem to be the IR4J specifically for when we file a IR4J on its own for members apart of a consolidated group and only require to file their own imputation return.
It would be great if this could be included as this helps when reporting our internal filing stats.
1 voteThanks for raising this and outlining how a standalone IR4J return type in reporting would help you track filing activity across your group companies.
We’re updating the idea status to Gaining support ✨, so others can add their votes and share how this would fit into their own workflows. Right now there aren’t any confirmed plans to introduce this change in Xero Tax, but your feedback – along with future votes and comments – will be really important input when we’re reviewing and prioritising improvements in this area.
We appreciate you taking the time to raise this with us.

AU Tax - Allow custom cover letters and document templates for CURNN forms
I would like to be able to create a custom cover letter to go with the CURNN.
2 votesHi Elaine, we understand that having more flexibility with client-facing documents can help practices keep communications consistent with their own branding and processes.
The suggestion is to allow custom cover letters to be included with CURNN forms, so the full client pack can be created in one place.
For now, you can download the CURNN confirmation and attach it to your own cover letter or template. We’ve moved this to Gaining Support so we can track interest and help our product teams understand the value of adding more document customisation options.

Jobs | Collaboration Manager - Option to include or exclude completed jobs/quotes from the displayed list and search results
Under Collaboration Manager, please add the option to include or exclude completed jobs/quotes from the displayed list and search results.
This functionality should allow users to easily filter between active and completed items, as well as allocate unallocated jobs/quotes to either open or closed jobs.
This will improve operational efficiency by eliminating the need to first reopen a completed job merely to allocate an item and then close the job again afterwards.
1 voteThanks for sharing your idea, Louis.
We're beginning to get a sense of the wider interest for this here. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote, too.
We'll share if there are any updates.
