  1. Allow adjustable column widths in the Clients screen (like Excel), especially for the Client Name field. Long entity names are currently truncated, making it difficult to identify clients. Also allow adding additional columns such as ABN and Address. This will significantly improve usability for practices managing large client bases.

  2. Having the ability to email a client directly from the 'Search clients' area to avoid opening the client file.

    If you search a client & click on the email in the column, there is a pop up just showing the email address again. This should be interactive so you can click on it & an automatic pop out to a new email opens, using your default program. Outlook in my case.

  3. Please reinstate the ability to edit email addresses under the bulk email function under Tax > Payments. Depending on the type of tax notice, we have to send a tax notice to a staff member and copy in an additional person. It will not allow us to enter in a second email address under the client profile. This is very time consuming if we have to send it out twice and inefficient.

  4. Staff Permission Filter In XPM/HQ

    A filter that allows admin user to be able to select a certain XPM permission and see which staff in the business have access to it.

  5. Client History
    It would be great to have a running record of client history in XPM, showing the date and person who, including but not limited to:
    - created the client
    - edited client details
    - archived client
    In a large firm over multiple offices, it would be easier to know who to contact if there are questions about details are entered into XPM, and keep XPM as a CRM up to date.

    Hi everyone, thanks for sharing on your needs for a comprehensive client audit trail in XPM. We understand this feature is critical for accountability and data integrity, and we hear you on the pain points this is causing.

    As you might've read and heard updates of our teams are currently working on a unified experience across practice tools with the Xero Partner Hub.

    History of client changes aren't wrapped into the initial work, but this is something the team would like to look at longer term and for now we'll move the idea to Accepted. Once Xero Partner Hub is fully released we can consider and will share any updates around history with you all here

  6. We have set up tracking categories in xero - one for Land & property and one for Self employment. I want to be able to import the data in to their tax return. I normally generate on xero tax the xero sole trader accounts to then be able to import these into the tax return. However, when i do the sole trader accounts, it pull through all information - L&P & SE. I only want the SE bit so i can add this to the SE section on the tax return.     Thanks for sharing this idea. We appreciate you explaining how filtering sole trader account data by tracking category could support your tax preparation workflow.

    As you've mentioned, tracking categories will be utilised to support multiple businesses for MTD for IT, however this isn't available with Xero Tax for sole trader accounts preparation.

  7. Incorrect Bulk Update and Suggested Notification Process

    Example Scenario:
    On Job Manager, a staff member accidentally selected all active jobs and changed their status from “In Progress” to “Completed” using the bulk update feature.
    Impact:

    Over 150 jobs were marked as completed.
    Workflow visibility was disrupted, and deadlines were missed because jobs disappeared from active lists.

    Root Cause:

    Bulk update permissions were too broad.
    No audit trail or alert triggered when job states changed.

    Recommended Controls:

    Trigger Email Notifications for Job Status Changes/Setting up email alerts
    Detecting incorrect bulk updates

    Thanks for sharing this idea with us. We appreciate you outlining how safeguards around bulk updates could help teams manage workflows in XPM.

    This idea is now in Gaining support status, meaning the community team have reviewed it and it's open for community support through votes and comments. We encourage others who'd find this helpful to add their votes and share their experiences.

    In the meantime, it is worth noting that a custom job notification for job state change could be created in your XPM account if you haven't done so already.

  8. Xero Tax currently doesn't have the functionality to separately display non-current assets and current assets as distinct sections on the face of the balance sheet. The software is presenting all debtors (including the deferred tax asset) under the current assets section, with the split between current and non-current amounts shown only in the notes.

  9. Add toggle on tax return cover page at daytime contact number section for client phone number or agent phone number similar to postal address and banking details and have information from client manager auto filled for phone number and email address

  10. If my client is tech challenged and cannot figure out how to follow a signature request link from your emails, I send them the link to https://portal.xero.com/ and they can usually manage it from there. This appears to work for document packs too.

    Can we please have a similar universal login link for ask queries?

  11. Please restore the ability to open XPM search results in a new tab using Ctrl + click.

    I regularly use the search button in the top right of XPM to look up client names. While right-clicking still allows links to be opened in a new tab, Ctrl + click no longer works.

    Ctrl + click is a much faster and more natural workflow, especially when moving through multiple clients, so losing this functionality has reduced efficiency. It would be great to have this reinstated.

  12. We have multiple Practices with multiple organisations. To add JAX to every single organisation is not even fathomable. A feature that allows users to enable JAX for multiple organisation is needed, it doesn't have to be from Xero HQ, possibly even My Xero would work.

  13. Offer an option to display on an account transactions page whether or not there is a document attached to a transaction. Also an option to display the file name of the document. Both would save time when checking whether or not the related document has been attached or not. Thank you

  14. It would be great if we could remove access to Bank Admin or Filing VAT returns for staff members from all client organisations that they have access to. curently we have to go into each individual organisation to remove this.

  15. Please add a field at the top of the client page where you can clearly identify in BOLD RED if the client has a stop work/file on hold action. This is helpful for clients that have overdue fees or if they are clients that we require upfront payment for. This needs to be visible on this page so it can not be missed by anyone that may undertake some work who is not aware.

    Hey Amy, thanks for sharing your feedback and for explaining how an alert or “on hold” option in Xero Practice Manager would help you manage work for clients who owe outstanding fees. We’ve reviewed this idea and are now moving it to the Gaining support status so other partners can vote and add their own use cases. Your comments and votes play an important role in helping our product team understand the impact of ideas like this and how they should be prioritised on our roadmap.   16. The fact that it's so hard to get a rental property schedule to share from one return to the selected second client is very very very very annoying. If there were a button we could press to manually ask it to share across that would save endless saving, closing, opening, closing the whole program, turning off your computer and leaving my desk in frustration.

  17. Competitor software provides a summary of the CGT events from a tax return in a 'line-per-transaction' view that's easy for clients to view and understand. This is lacking since switching to Xero Tax.

  18. Currently the practice entity Xero blue file cannot be linked to a 'client' within the client list under the practice. This means users are unable to generate a workpaper pack for the practice.

    Our Practices need to be compliant too, if we are unable to use workpapers within the system, we have to find another solution for our workpapers

    There needs to be the ability to link the practice organisation to an entity within the client list.

    We need a new customer statement format that functions as a "traditional" detailed ledger.

    The Problem: The current "Activity Statement" is focused on allocations. It shows which invoices are paid or unpaid and portion of payments made to the invoice, but it does not show the payment transactions themselves as separate line items.

    For example, if a customer makes one large payment of R5,000 to clear three invoices, the current statement splits this payment up as their parts to the invoice. The customer cannot see their R5,000 payment listed as a single transaction. This is confusing for…

    Hi Jasmine, thanks for sharing this idea with us. We can see why this would be helpful for some users. Currently, Xero offers the Customer Invoice Activity and the Contacts "Activity statement" . While this information is available on the account transaction report, it is not available in a Statement format. We've moved this idea to Gaining support so that other users who want this idea implemented can vote for it as well. You may share this idea with your colleagues to get more traction!
