  1. In nearly every other business program, a Contact refers to a person and not the business name. The person should be the primary entry entered for contact information, and the business name is an attribute to that person, not the person an attribute to the business as it is currently set up in Xero. We often have to change the specific person (or entity like Accounts Payable) who a quote or invoice or other document needs to go to, and the only way to do that currently is to change the primary person under the business name each time we…

  2. Hubdoc. Options to post to Xero are Purchase, Spend money, Invoice (AP) and credit note.
Can we have a received money option as well please so that I can enter say bar takings from an end of day till report straight to the Tills cash reconciliation report.?

Hi team, we appreciate the interest from you all in this idea and sharing how this feature would be beneficial to your processes.

Being upfront the position of this idea has not changed since our update last year and we want to be honest that there are no plans to develop the ability to post receive money transactions in Xero from Hubdoc.

  3. Please consider adding compatibility to preview .eml files (and .msg files if possible) that are attached to invoices (and other documents) in Xero, similar to the pdf preview window.

Emails are text/HTML so this seems achievable.

This would save time needing to download correspondences to view them, which are useful attachments in Xero for audit purposes.

It’s great to see ideas around attachment previews, especially how support for .eml and .msg files could make audit workflows smoother.

This idea is now open for the community to vote on and discuss. Adding a few details about how it would fit into your workflow can help others understand why it matters and give the product team extra context.

We’ll keep this thread updated as things develop.

  4. add to show the planned date for payment on the contact page where you can see all the bills as an option for the columns. so we can see if we have set up payment for each of the bills in the contact page for each contact/supplier.

  5. The Contacts listing in Xero shows amount owing on left and amount receivable on right, it would be more 'readable' to accountants if it were the other way around:

They Owe - left side / debit / current asset
You Owe - right side / credit / current liability

Thanks for sharing your idea about how you'd like the "You Owe" and "They Owe" columns to be the other way around.

It's worth noting that the current orientation matches the Spent/Received columns in the Reconcile tab of the bank account. You might like to raise a separate product idea if you'd also like a similar change there (or maybe an option to swap the columns around).

In the meantime, we've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share this idea with any colleagues that this could also benefit, so they can add their votes and comments too!

  6. AU Tax - Display foreign income worksheet on printed return
Can you please ensure that the Individual Foreign Income Worksheet is generated and included when printing the ITR in PDF, even if the foreign income relates to dividends or interest (and not foreign rental property)?
This way, the worksheet will be attached to the PDF ITR, allowing the client to review the foreign income details. At present, the main form only displays the converted AUD amount, so including the worksheet will provide transparency around the original foreign figures

  8. You should be able to create a Bill Credit note directly from the FILES folder of your profile. This way when you go in to check the Credit note, you can create it straight away, rather than have to go out, in to Bills, and then have to create it from there.
OR when you send an 'invoice'/attachment through to your draft bills, you should be able to change it to be a bill credit note rather than a bill

  9. Please provide functionality in Xero to turn off the contact name suggestions when creating an invoice, bill, receive money or spend money transaction. This is very frustrating especially if you make a mistake and it saves it, it is there forever. Also the list can get quite long. We need to delete the names that are not required anymore from the list. Please, please fix this issue up.

Hi everyone, appreciate the feedback here. As you may have noticed we have made some changes to the Contact field within new invoicing over the past few months to improve the experience.

When entering a contacts name, the contact's shown are results from your existing contact record.

As a start to help with cleaning up contacts that have been created in error you can either edit contact records, or merge contacts that may have been created as duplicates in error. This will help limit the number of contacts that are appearing in results when you type a contacts name on an invoice.

  10. Please make it possible to allocate expenses to any bank account while in hubdoc. That way a lot of time is saved when reconciling transactions to the bank account.

  11. I want to be able to run a report of the quantity of a specific item that my contact or a group of contacts sell in a specific time period. not dollar amount, but an actual item or group of items.

Thanks for your suggestion about reporting on the quantity of items sold per contact or contact group over a given period (rather than just the total dollar value). At the moment, Xero doesn’t have a specific report that shows “item quantity by contact or contact group”, and this isn’t on our current roadmap for inventory or reporting. Today, some customers approximate this using the Receivable Invoice Details report or Sales by Item report with filters and external pivots, but we know that’s not as simple as having a dedicated report.

This idea is still open for votes and If this work does move onto the roadmap in future, we’ll post an update on this idea.

  12. We have dozens of parent companies with underlying subsidiaries who place separate orders for separate locations, all under the parent company's credit line/name. These all split into different contacts in Xero when they come in from our order processing system. We need Xero to support hierarchies/parent-child relationships/nested orders, so that all purchases can be aggregated to the parent company, both for tracking overall credit use and for sending consolidated statements that include all purchases from all "children". We work with BigCommerce who has a BundleB2B feature that allows these kind of parent-child hierarchies on the client-facing side, but we can't…

  13. The easiest way to save a document to the Files Inbox is to share it from the device file manager or gallery. However, if an image has been rotated to landscape (e.g. because the image was originally the wrong orientation), saving the image to Files Inbox this way removes the rotation. The Xero Accounting app should preserve the rotation when uploading.

Hi Gary, just to better understand your idea here. Is it mainly that you'd like to classify a contacts as a customer or supplier based on spend and receive money transactions?

Right now, as you may be aware you can easily create a new contact while reconciling, however the contact will only be classed as a customer or supplier based on the type of transacti9ons that are entered for them.

We have an existing idea around this I could merge your feedback in with?

  15. We are a small business that has just started using Xero, but already have 400+ contacts. Would love the ability to filter the contact list. For example, filter by country (show me all contacts in the UK, USA, etc.), filter by creation date or updated date (show me all contacts created in the last 30 days), etc.

There is no way to sort and filter the contacts, just endless scrolling through a long list.

Functionality feature that may not be critical to business operations, but it would make life a bit easier!

Hi Brian, appreciate it's not a direct filter option like you're asking here however if you often need to filter by say country or another aspect of your Contact perhaps you may consider creating Contact groups? This way you'd be able to click on the group within contacts when you need.

Being open we don't have any direct plans for adding more filtering to the Contact list atm, but we'll continue to track your idea here and share if there are any plans made.

  16. Option to add a bit more detail if needed for a supplier (bank account and email) for the ease of then must marking straight away in Xero for payment.

Hey, just a quick update on this. We've reviewed this idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it.

Make sure you share your idea with anyone that this could benefit so they can add their votes and comments about how this could also improve their experience with Hubdoc and Xero.

In the meantime, you could update the supplier with their email and bank details in the Contacts screen.

  17. When converting a pdf to csv, the platform will high-light the extracted lines so that you can see any MISSED lines that you need to manually add to the csv before importing. If you leave that screen, however, and proceed to download your csv, those high-lights disappear and you have no way to get them back. There should be a way to download the high-lighted pdf, get the high-lights back, or at the very least a warning to the user to capture this data now or lose it forever once you proceed to download your csv.

  19. Noticed that the BRN can be filled in the "Business Registration Number" data field in Xero Contact, but how about the individual contact with an Identity Card or Passport number?

Even we can fill the IC / passport number in the BRN field, but how to choose the ID type (whether it is IC No., Passport No., BRN, or Army No.)?

Hi Liew, thanks for raising this. We can see how having a dedicated field for e-invoicing IDs on a contact would make things easier, especially when you're managing different ID types and need a quick way to reference them.

At the moment, you can enter specific IDs like the BRN, but there’s no option to add a custom or more general ID type.

This idea’s now in the Gaining Support stage. Your input helps us get a better sense of how useful this would be across the wider Xero community, and feeds into how we prioritise updates. We’ll share more here when there’s progress.

  20. When using the new Check box. 'Use as billing address'. If you type in the address afterwards and edit the address. It deletes the the selected checkbox. 'use as billing address'

Just frustrating as you have to go back in and recheck.

Hey Steve, thanks for raising this idea around the ‘Use as billing address’ checkbox resetting when a contact is edited.

Keeping the checkbox selected unless intentionally changed would make things quicker, easier, and less error-prone when updating contact details.

We’ve now moved the idea into the Gaining Support stage. That means it’s open for votes and comments, and we’ll be keeping an eye on the demand as feedback comes in. The community input helps the team gauge what matters most to our users.
