Yes, I agree it would be very nice to be able to have that feature.

This needs to be resolved so that it is clear how much was paid. It should not matter how the invoice was paid, either via overpayment or direct.

I can't believe that this is even going to a vote.

We need this feature. That's important to provide an official receipt to the client even they have overpaid.

How long has this been a request? It should be simple to be able to send a receipt when someone has paid an invoice, even if they have overpaid. But you can't.

Apparently receipts are only available if you pay the correct amount... not helpful when we have clients who need to claim on funding with proof of receipt.

Absolutely need to be able to send a receipt for overpayments. Our customers often overpay or pay in "installments" to clear their balance as we request 50/50 deposit/balance on our products.

Makes no sense not to be able to send your customer a notice of their overpayment. It's also presumptuous to make a prepayment when someone overpays if they did it on accident and want the money back. Surely there's an easier solution like converting overpayments to credit notes, or something along those lines.

it seems nonsensical that i can send a receipt for a payment ordinarily but not a payment which has some over-payment included.. Seems like a bug to me !!

Has Xero allowed printing of overpayments yet? Taking a screenshot is unprofessional.

Being able to send a receipt for a payment is crucial for some of our clients. If an overpayment has been made, it unables you to send a receipt, even after the overpayment has been cleared. Please make sure this feature is added.

Not sure why the overpayment receipt can NOT be printed like the credit note, so we can provide to our customer when requested. If it takes time for this key function to be added in, is there any temporally solution please?

Our customer has requested an overpayment receipt, which we are unable to provide. I can see in previous comments from others that this has been an ongoing issue for years. Is this something you are looking into?

Due to this limitation, our client is requiring us to refund over $30,000 in cash before they can process the invoices again, only for the same funds to be returned to us later. This means we are out-of-pocket for a substantial amount while waiting for them to complete their process, which could take weeks. This back-and-forth is entirely avoidable if we had the ability to simply email the overpayments directly within Xero. Taking a screenshot is not professional nor acceptable when dealing with this amount of money.

It’s definitely frustrating, this issue persists for years without a solution.
A feature to print an overpayment receipt should be built-in intuitively as it is essential and improves communication with our clients.
This is a key function for businesses and should be prioritized.

When viewing a customers account, it is important for them to see what they have and haven't paid at a glance using over payments as a way of allocating their payments shouldn't change this
