  1. Where have the GST due dates gone from the new GST Return layout?

Also would it be viable for Xero to default no GST for transactions up to a certain date considering some businesses are registered from any point during a month.

  2. We would like the ability to transfer a GST refund to another tax payer. It can be done if we file online at IR and we would like Xero's GST return to file automatically with this feature. We have associated groups and have refunds that we want to offset against another tax payers GST to pay.

Hi Alison, while there's no direct option to group by Planned date in the Aged Payables Detail report atm, if you change Group to None, once run you can click the Planned Date column header within the report to re-order by this field and it'll group all payable invoices by Planned Date.

  4. When using any report, when drilling down into more detail is great BUT there seems no way of then returning to the original report without re-running it after you have finished reading the drilled down info? Or have I missed something.

Would be good to get an example of a specific report you're drilling into, Lyn. You should be able to click the back button on your browser to return to the previous page / report you're on.

Alternatively, right click and opening the drill down figure in another tab may also be useful here 🙂

  5. Sometimes small buisnees is exactly that - a small business without the need for a robust accounting software, but with the requirement for annual online tax filing ability. Effective 2024 all Canadian corporations, with very few execptions, are required to file their corporate tax online.

My understanding is Xero offers this option to UK Accountants & Partners only - not to small businesses.

I suggest this option be made available to the small business that make up most of the country's enterprises. The Canadian government has decreed the online filing method is required from 2024. There are many accounitng programs,…

  6. We run multiple branches out of one Xero ledger. We find the income and expenses by contact report very handy to track sales data, however it would be much more useful if we were able to filter by tracking catagory (for our instance we track branch locaiton).

  7. It would be very useful to be able to amend CIS returns on Xero before final submission (as it is possible with VAT returns).

Thank you for raising this idea about the ability to amend CIS returns before submitting them. As per HMRC requirements, the CIS deduction is an event that is legally tied to the cash transaction of a payment being made. Because of this, the final return is based on these completed cash transactions, and any changes must be made through HMRC's official amendment process. Therefore, the ability to edit the return before submission is outside of Xero's control as we must adhere to the strict requirements set by HMRC for the CIS scheme. While we understand this isn't the answer you were hoping for, we want to be transparent about why this is not something we can build. We will continue to explore any potential solutions that may align with HMRC's future requirements, but for now, we must follow their strict compliance rules ✨

  8. At present we are able to edit the layout of reports by rearranging, creating formulas, and grouping accounts. It would be INCREDIBLE to be able to customize the following.

    1) Group font (size and boldness only)- right now it defaults to a much larger BOLD font than the underlying accounts. It would be nice to choose these sizes and weights

    2) Customize the Group Total's Location - at present it shows only as an additional labeled row with the corresponding total. It would be a neater presentation to just have the group total show right in line with its main…

Hi Michael we're grateful for your engagement here, however we ask that each post is contained to a single idea for a feature.

We've identified that there are existing Xero Product Ideas relating to customising fonts and styles in reporting, and collapsing and expanding account groups. We've gone ahead and added your vote to these ideas, so that we can gather support and gauge interest for these ideas separately.

We've also adjusted the title of this idea to reflect your suggestion to change the position of group totals in custom layouts. This idea can now gather support through votes and comments from others in the community.

  9. Provide the ability to schedule requesting on a daily basis the EFT Reconciliation reports in XPM, currently being a manual request locked behind Business settings permissions.
Provide also the resulting reports in either a Custom Reports area or standard reports so admin staff without the Business Settings permissions can view the ATO EFT reconciliation reports, filtered by date and Tax Agent Number. Possibly add a permission to view these reports as a separate permission.

Thanks for supporting and sharing with us how scheduling of reports could enhance your workflow. While we don't have immediate plans for this feature, we have a pulse on the ideas for this in community here and will be sure to update if there's any change to automate these for you.

  10. Insert blank row in customised financial reports to separate different groups..

  11. Separate the INCOME TAX EXPENSE from the normal operating expenses in the Profit & Loss Statement. for example:
    - Net Profit Before Tax
    - INCOME TAX EXPENSE
    - Net Profit After Tax
This is the basics of accounting apps.

  12. For the line items in the Tracking Summary, please include a currency column! Historically this was available. Calculating commission now takes WAY longer. Seems like it should be an easy fix.

  13. Cash Summary Report to include Primary Person Please.

Can you get a cash summary report to provide in order 3 items as per below
Invoice No ... Contact ...Primary person
I cant seem to find a report for all three .
We send 170 invoices out client who pay sometimes do not include invoice number and we have to track by firm name or contact which can vary also on bank receipt information.

    e.g.

I need "Primary person" to help "match" an unidentied payment. so searching for "primary person" identifies the invoice number or the right contact.

  14. Can we get a regular balance sheet in the Advisor (management) packs?

For some reason it provides a summarised version, with statutory lines only (eg Fixed Assets, Trade debtors etc) but not the TB account by account.

"More" even has an "Account codes" option, which doesn't work 😕

    Come on Xero!

Hi Yaakov, appreciate the feedback however still a bit of confusion of what you're actually after here as you initial screenshot showed the Management reports within Xero blue, whereas you're latest image shows the Report Templates in Xero HQ.

Is it possible that you're trying to add a Custom report that you've created in a client organisation to a Report Template? If so, we have a similar idea that was raised for this, but I want to be upfront that we don't have any plans for developing this.

  15. In the overall budget report, add column for annual total.
Add additional option to include quarterly or triannual sub-total columns.

  16. Is there a way to create a sql report for trial balance or some other form of report that can be downloaded by excel power query? Eg a website link that could be accessed privately by sending and excel query? It gets very tedious repeatedly downloading trial balances again and again.

  17. Suggestion for Enhancing Note Visibility in Xero

When writing notes for any invoice, bill, or manual journal in Xero, the notes are typically placed in the History column. However, this makes them less visible to someone new who might review these documents. If these notes could be added as sticky notes at the top corners of the page, they would be more prominent and could help avoid potential mistakes caused by missing information. Additionally, creating an alert for anyone new accessing these documents would ensure they are aware of important notes. Highlighting these notes could further enhance visibility and capture…

  18. I have setup a custom report to generate timesheets for different projects as we need to provide these to customers, along with the invoice.

Currently, I have to export and then copy and paste and tweak it, to fit into either a PDF or Excel so I can add our company logo and details.

It would be great if we could add a Header and/or Footer with text and enable the organisation's logo to be displayed when printing to PDF.

Hi Emily, if you are a Xero Partner you can set up report styles which will allow you to add a logo to your reports. Appreciate the other portion of your idea on being able to edit the header and footer of a Projects report which is not possible atm - out of interest is there a specific projects report that you are running in relation to your idea here. This helps when sharing back with our product team.

  20. In Australia, users need to be able to manually edit the amount of GST paid on a transaction. This is required because certain transactions (particularly grocery and pharmacy transactions) have a mixture of items, some of which have GST applied, and some that do not. Unfortunately, the receipts for these types of transactions do not indicate which specific items have incurred GST - they just have a total amount of GST paid on that receipt. As such, it would be great if users could just override the total amount of GST paid for those receipts. See attached for an example…
