Reporting - Saved customised report layout across common formats
Been trailing the new reports format and when setting up a custom group account layout for a Profit and Loss report we can't use this layout across Common Formats of Profit and Loss. This feature was available in the old reports that once a custom layout was created it worked on all formats. Been advised that would need to create a separate custom report for every Common Format

Just started using XERO this year. When a user customises a P&L and/or Balance Sheet report to display relevant account groupings, it's unbelievable XERO doesn't facilitate this customised report layout to be used across all variations of these financial reports. Instead XERO expects users to spend countless non-productive hours creating account groupings in every different type of P&L and Balance Sheet report display version. It is commonplace to run many different variations of these financial statements for a business, aligning with varying business analysis requirements. Of note, MYOB uses account groupings in the Chart of Accounts so P&L and Balance Sheet reports of any variation are automatically formatted correctly. What's your reasoning XERO???

Just started with Xero and dissapointed that this isn't available. As per the comments below removing the functionalty is a backward step.

Adviser year-end account templates - it would be great if when allocating account codes to categories in the P&L/BS, they also updated in automatically in the cash flow statements and the notes 1-4.
This would both save time and also remove the chance of human error - there is always the possibility of accidentally allocating differently.

PLEASE give us back the functionality we used to have.
Reporting is taking a lot longer now and many more key strokes. For example - If we add a new account to our chart of accounts - Why are we being asked to update that EACH of the COMMON FORMATS? And then again in Management reports.
This seems strange given Xero is about simplifying business allowing customers to "do" their business. With a progressive growing business we could be adding a new account(s) quite frequently.

Reporting layouts are great but very frustrating to have to update multiple versions of a report when a change to account layout/new account is made eg: P&L report with categorised accounts but different views on columns.
It would be great to have a common account layout for the rows and then customised the columns to show required info - meaning that if a new account is added, or new formula etc only one update is needed to the common layout rather than tracking across all required reports.

Need to be able to share P&L customised layout into Budget report, or add budgets into P&L filters- or both

I reckon the answer is not what we expect and the question was about Chart of Accounts. It seem Xero has no ability to create your own COA

Has the above suggestion by Kelly Munro been done yet? It would be really helpful to be able to set standard columns that will be selected by default on reports.

As accountants we create a custom report. Can we use this customized report for all clients across our firm ?

Allow importing of a custom report layout into new custom reports. eg. I have a preferred customised layout for my P&L. I would like to replicate that layout in a Budget + Actual report and a Variance report. Currently I have to recustomise each report from scratch. This is highly cumbersome and creates risk of error and inconsistency.

Historically, we could create a PL or BS template and use it in any reports or layout and if any changes were made to the template this would update all the reports that had a PL or BS. However, in the new reports this function is unavailable, which means you have to amend the report in all the management reports you have created which has increased production time considerably.
I dont understand why this function has been removed, please bring it back or something similar! -

One custom template layout that could be transferred over all reports. We have multiple nominal codes for income and expenditure which means a lot of work to set up a new custom report. I currently have to export into excel which can cause errors.

It's not currently possible to copy schedules or the groups that you've prepared in a report to another report.
It would be great if we could either copy and paste the schedule and groups to a new report in a report pack and/or link it to the original report, so that any adjustments made to the original report could be quickly replicated. Example being grouping expenses in the P&L and then creating a separate Schedule of Expenses report to show some of the breakdown.

We need the ability to copy report layouts from one report type to another. For example I have customised my P&L report by grouping accounts under headings. It would be good to be able to copy the same layout to budgets etc without having to spend time customising the budget report to match.

When customising a profit and loss report, the customisation should remain across the other profit and loss reports, as was the case previously. IF working on Profit and Loss, Budget Variance and Month by month with budget reports, we should not have to redesign the layout 3 times and then amend each of the 3 reports everytime something changes. The way accounts line up in these reports should be consistent.

Yes, please bring back the common formats!
We used the common format option all the time in the old reports. It's a great tool for decision-makers who are not skilled in Xero, and don't want to have to look at a whole range of separate custom reports.

We found this very frustrating. Now, our custom report lists are getting longer and messier as we need to have separate reports for each layout just for 1 reporting format. Now, it's also getting very confusing. Seems like the new XERO reporting makes our life harder and not easier.

Enable an advanced setting in Xero to have customised columns Change dependant on client (e.g., GST, Credit, Debit, Date, Reference). With the rollout of new reports its frustrating when generating reports on client's P&L to have to change for every single column.

Have the ability to create report templates using a different set of COA's rather than the Xero standard version.
