Hi everyone, appreciate the additional feedback and support we've received on this idea since my last update.

While we have help on how to find VAT report discrepancies, do understand how you'd like a 1 single report that you can easily segment for this review.

This isn't something we have plans for at present, but we are continuing to track and will share if there are any updates of this nature planned with you all here. Thanks

    @everyone

    Can you clarify what is actually needed.

    A transaction report that shows which vat return period a particular transaction was finalised/closed in?

    If so, what type of reporting is needed?

    Date - is Quarter filtering enough?

    Transactional Data - Which fields are a must in this report?

    Country - Are you after specific country vat return format, or is it just the data that is required?

    Given the recent announcement of Xero's partnership with Anthropic, perhaps Xero anticipates that clients will setup a Claude.ai workflow to automate searching for VAT errors and missing transactions or other custom analyses not available natively in Xero ?

    It woudl be even better if the report show which weren't on returns as one section and then another section where it shows which return they are on otherwise you have to go hunting for late claims!

    Actually, it would be good if there was a report that said which return the transactions were on to make it easier to look for late claims rather than having to go into each return and search

    would like to see a marker on each bill or sales invoice that you go into, to show whether it already appears on a vat return that has been finalised

    Having to run the Account Transactions report to compare with the Transactions by VAT box tab of your VAT return is very long winded. We need this kind of info all the time eg when we do a movemybooks conversion. all other systems seem to have it.

    To show VAT Period Claim on individual transactions so that you are able to trace back to the correct VAT returns

    Currently, to find any transactions not included in a VAT return it's a case of comparing two reports which depending on the amount of transactions can take a lot of time.

    Could a filter be added into reports so you can clearly see this information quickly and then action any corrections (if needed)?

    Software like sage and VT clearly show a reconciliation mark to show it's been included so seeing this information takes seconds..

    It would be very helpful to be able to run a VAT transaction report which shows if the transactions were included in a VAT return and if so which return it was claimed. That way when we are completing year end accounts we know which VAT transactions have been included or not included in a VAT return, showing any differences, if any.
