GST Audit (Singapore) - Show the tax code in each row
Suggestions to improve the reporting of GST Audit Beta
Allow us to select which Tax Codes to display in report (default All)
Show the tax code in each row rather than as a report subheader. Useful when there are lots of records for some tax codes
I noticed that we can select Reference field for the columns, but not Invoice No. If the entry's Ref field is blank, the report shows the Invoice No. So this is misrepresenting the report, and showing inaccurate results as no one analysing the report would know if they are seeing the Ref no or…

UK Tax - Importing Rental Income to Xero Tax
Following the introduction to MTD for ITSA, we will be reporting a number of clients rental income to HMRC using Xero, which we previously did not. As a result of MTD for ITSA we will be preparing more Tax Returns using Xero Tax.
It is currently not possible to import rental income & expenses, from a client's Xero account directly to Xero Tax (where as you can for sole trade businesses). Unfortunately these figures need to be typed in manually.
Would it be possible to add this feature into Xero Tax?
1 voteThanks for sharing your idea of importing rental income into the personal tax return.
We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it.
It is worth noting that our MTD for IT functionality will include the option to include rental income/expenses and will utilise tracking categories to do this.
Along with votes, other members can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero.

NZ GST - New GST return layout
New GST return layout and a few thoughts around it :-
1) when you export the PDF, the file name only shows as eg, GST return 01022024 for a GST return for period ending 31 March 2024. Why can't it show the client's company name, GST return followed by Period end date?
2) when you try to export the PDF with accounting firm logo - it doesn't seem to work and who has "minutes" to wait for it to download?
3? The body of the report is now in landscape which if the client were to print would…43 votesHi everyone, we appreciate all your feedback on the new GST return and while I've made sure your feedback has been shared with product, we're going to close this idea being too broad to focus in on a particular change.
We've created individual ideas for the following points raised as it'd be good to track the interest in each separately. Please do add your vote to each that you'd like to see.
- NZ GST - Export customised return
- NZ GST - Compact export (landscape v portrait)
- NZ GST - Move File with IR to top of page
- NZ GST - Styling PDF export
I'd also encourage raising a case with our specialists at Xero Support if you're having any issues with performance or usability as it'd be good to get more detail and our team can investigate.

MTD for IT - Make available to users without a Xero partner
Allow self employed who are not VAT registered to use MTD.
I've just signed up to submit accounts via MTD with HMRC but Xero currently don't allow me to do this unless I use an accountant. I use Xero so I don't need an accountant... I'm now a bit stuck as HMRC require me to submit account for the current 2025-2026 tax year this way and I have no way of doing this. Please help! thanks.2 votesThanks for your interest in Xero’s MTD for IT beta and for sharing this idea here. In the first phase of our beta, we’re only supporting Xero Partners.
However this will be rolled out to users without an accountant, please complete our expression of interest form to register your interest and we’ll be in touch when we have more information on expanding the beta. MTD for Income Tax (Employed Income)
As well as my self-employment, I received income through Employment that currently I cannot declare through Xero's MTD for Income Tax implementation, and therefore I cannot use Xero for filing. The addition of allowing me to declare income through Employment via Xero would allow me and others like me to do so.
2 votesHi Oliver, thanks for sharing this idea. We appreciate you highlighting how important it is to declare employed income alongside self-employment income within Xero’s MTD for Income Tax implementation. Our product team is aware of this request and it’s on their radar as we assess future improvements. In the meantime, please add your vote and comments on this idea to help us understand demand across the community 🙂

NZ GST - Compact export (landscape v portrait)
Ability to choose the layout of the export - landscape or portrait
7 votesHi community, this idea has been created from feedback in this initial idea. While we are interested to get a better pulse on the interest in this, we want to front foot that we don't have any plans for this change.
Switching from landscape to portrait was made based on a lot of feedback and testing, so we'd want to see a fair amount of support through the idea here to consider making another change.

NZ GST - Consistent approach to display transactions
The "GST on expenses" and "no GST" sections of the GST report have contradicting signage - e.g.: expenses are a positive when there is GST but a negative when its under the "no GST" section. Can we keep it consistent in the report as its confusing to read/review.
1 voteThanks for sharing your feedback on the GST report formatting and how the current approach can cause confusion when reviewing the transactions.
We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

CIS - Allow 210 CIS Labour invoice to be added to a service
I would like to be able to assign the 210 CIS labour account to a service for CIS labour. At the moment, I have a couple of services for CIS labour and some for non CIS labour.
For the Non CIS labour, I can creat a service called 'labour' and add the account code to it.
This can't be done with CIS labour at the moment as Xero won't allow it. This means that for each line item of CIS labour in an invoice I have to manually add the 210 CIS account.
This is unnecessarily timecomsuming and allows for…4 votes -
Semi-Annual Sales Tax Report
The new Sales Tax Report does not allow for a semi-annual tax reporting period. The non-profit youth camp I work for pays a small amount each year, and the state has us on a schedule to pay twice a year. That is not an option that can be selected, as the only options are Monthly, Quarterly, and Annually. Please add the option for a semi-annual reporting period.
6 votesThanks for submitting your idea on Xero Product Idea's. We appreciate you taking your time to share changes that'd be most meaningful to you.
This isn't something we have plans for atm, but we'll keep monitoring and track support your idea receives from the community.

NZ GST - Move 'File with IR' button to top of page
Moving the button to File with IR from the bottom to top of screen, to make it more obvious.
5 votesHi everyone, we've created this idea based on feedback received here.
With careful design and research around the placement of action buttons, there are no planned changes for moving the the 'File with IR' button.
However, we'd still like to get a sense of the interest from community in this, here.

NZ GST - Export customised return
Ability to export the GST return with the layout as customised on the screen. For example if columns have been hidden these are not shown in the exported file.
5 votesHi everyone, this idea has been created from feedback on this initial idea. We understand why you'd like your exported return to appear with the same columns hidden and would like to get a better view of the overall community interest in this from the idea here.
While we don't have immediate plans, we will keep an eye on this here and share if there are any updates.

Xero Tax (UK) - Aligning sole trade accounts expense categories to mirror tax return
It seems we can only class expenses within the profit & loss as staff costs or other charges. Ideally the breakdown should match the tax return.

UK Tax - Vat number on Vat Tab
Please show the VAT number on the VAT page. At the moment either need to go via the Financial settings or drill into a VAT return to see the VAT registration number. Would be good if quickly visible on the VAT page

NZ GST return - Late claims, Publish & incognito mode
Not a new product idea by any means, just a request to put the GST return back the way it was before the update. So far with the new update, we can no longer see the late claims on a separate tab, we cannot publish the final return in Xero and now we can not be in two different entities at once even if we are incognito mode or in a different web browser.
When querying Xero about this problem, it was suggested that I post it as a product idea, because they are all known issues but can't do…17 votes -
AU BAS - Consolidated Lodgment for grouped entities
Where you have multiple legal entities that are able to lodge a consolidated BAS/GST return for the Group, having an ability to lodge the one return from Xero, without having to manually consolidate the various legal entities data outside of Xero via excel or some other means.
6 votesAppreciate some customers are working with multiple Xero organisations, Stephen. This isn't something we have plans to support right now, we have another idea around consolidated reporting that you may also like to join here. We'll start to track interest in consolidated BAS directly, here.

Country-specific features and ecosystem for Nepal
Proposal – Xero Expansion Strategy for Nepal
Summary:
Nepal presents a strong opportunity for Xero with its growing SME sector, increasing digital adoption, and government focus on VAT/TDS compliance. To succeed, Xero should focus on localization, affordability, and integrations.Key Recommendations:
Localization – Automate VAT & TDS filing in government-approved formats, support NPR currency with NRB exchange rate sync, and offer bilingual (Nepali/English) invoices.
Mobile-First Approach – Lightweight app with offline functionality, expense capture via SMS, and local-language notifications.
Banking & Wallet Integration – Partner with leading Nepali banks (Nabil, NIC Asia, Global IME, etc.) and mobile wallets (eSewa, Khalti,…
1 voteThanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you.
As you're possibly aware, Xero doesn't currently have specific features for Nepalese businesses, so for now we'd suggest using the Global edition.

NZ GST - Zero rated GST for asset accounts
At the moment Zero Rated GST can only be applied to Revenue items on the Chart of Accounts. When we deal with a property sale between GST registsred parties, the sale is also zero rated for GST purposes. We need the option to apply the 0% GST rate to asset codes as well as revenue codes. At the moment, we have to do a manual workaround.
