VAT excel export - Date column should default to date format
Dates should default to date format when exporting the VAT return to excel.
Currently when exporting the VAT return to excel that dates automatically default to either text or general format. This means you can't filter the dates by oldest to newest as the filter selection defaults to A-Z.
Changing the date to date format via format cells does not fix the issue. The only way I have found is to manually update the dates using the =DATEVALUE(x) formula and paste these new values over the old ones. This can be very tedious when working with a lot of late…

BAS - Export lodgement confirmation
Once an activity statement (BAS or IAS) has been lodged via Xero, when we generate the activity statement and export to PDF or Excel can it include the lodgement confirmation details, including date and time lodged, person/user that lodged, any lodgement confirmation numbers etc.
This information is shown in Xero, but not on the report when exported.3 votes -
VAT Return - Exclude adjusted rounding VAT transactions of 0.01
On VAT returns, there are "ADJUSTED" columns. This is a good idea as it can highlight mistakes, but it also picks up any auto-rounding error created by Xero itself, always of £0.01. This is annoying as it means each of these "Adjusted" entries needs to be checked.
My proposal is to not include any rounding errors of £0.01
It will save a lot of time having to go through every "adjusted" item, as it would whittle them down to only ones with real error.4 votes -
Notification | Email reminder for VAT submission deadline
Given that the HMRC reminders are non-customisable, sporadic and could be taken away at any time, could we please develop email reminders for VAT submission deadlines in Xero?

VAT Reconciliation Report - Auto-populate and drill down into figures
An updated, functional VAT reconciliation report.
The existing VAT reconciliation report isn't particularly useful. It has to be populated manually and the figures that do populate automatically can't be drilled down into. Not helpful.
VAT reconciliation aren't really a problem for us as we can use the Detailed Account Transactions report to identify the transactions posted directly to the VAT account i.e. transactions that have a category of VAT, whether it be a VAT payment, VAT on imports or just simply a miscoding by the client. Essentially it highlights those transactions that will affect the VAT ledger balance but won't…

CIS - Registered users UTR number for verification for partnerships
Include the option to enter the Registered User's UTR number in CIS verifications as well as the Organisations UTR number which will allow partnerships to be verified - HMRC need both to verify a partnership.

UK CIS - Audit history of emails sent out from CIS Contractor
It would be really useful to be able to view the email content/date/time/recipient, etc of the emails sent to CIS Subcontractors when we send the monthly CIS Statements via Xero to them.

Reports | VAT201 report - View total per transaction
I am looking for a way to view a value for the supplier or customer transaction as a total value not as individual lines in the vat201 report. For example. I have 3 line transactions in 1 customer invoice, so it shows these three separately. I dont want to view it like that, I want to view it as a complete value, so we can double check the whole invoice as opposed to going to the invoice and looking line through line, which is extremely time consuming

BAS (AU) - Monthly PAYG Income tax instalment
Xero doesn't currently have the option for reporting PAYG Income Tax Instalment on a monthly basis. Could Xero look into providing this option in the monthly BAS Activity Statement reporting.
81 votesAppreciate your input here, everyone. Our team has looked into this idea to better understand the needs and complexities involved, however they don't have any concrete plans for it just yet.
Rest assured that our eyes are on the ground monitoring your feedback and votes here, so please keep adding them in this thread. For the time being, I’ll move this idea into ‘Under review’ status. And if there's any movement, we'll make sure to come back here and let you all know.

Sales Tax (CA) - Support 'Quick method' GST/HST tax calculation
Support Quick Method of GST/HST tax calculation for Canadian small business. Small business corporations in Canada have an option of so called Quick Method of GST/HST tax calculation that is based on a marginal percentage from the sales revenue amount instead of full balance of taxes collced and paid. Many small businesses choose to use QM because it frequently and significantly (upt to 30%) reduces GST/HST taxes payable. Current GST/HST tax report does not support the QM and the manual workaround method through tax adjustment is not 100% corret in terms of the line numbers in the report. Enabling QM…

US - W8 Requests for 1042 reporting
Dear Community,
as we now have the W9 Request Feature with the 1099 Reporting, I would please request the same for the W8 Series for the 1042 Reporting. I know the forms are much more complex, but I experience that clients, even though reminded about the importance of gathering the W8s. Many completely disregard the Withholding requirement w/o the form.
Please let me know what you think.
Regards,
Sebastian

Sales Tax Audit Report - Include Customer Tax ID numbers
VAT reporting in the EU includes ICP reporting for sales to other EU countries (aka pre-Brexit EC Sales reporting). Part of the reporting requirement is to supply the customers VAT number on the ICP return. The customers VAT number is supplied at the time of invoicing and is included on the invoice and in the customer contact details so is an existing field in Xero. To meet the ICP reporting requirements, every invoice is opened manually to find the customers VAT number which is entered against each customer on an export of the Sales Tax Audit Report spreadsheet off Xero,…

GST Late Claims Carry Forward and Selection Option
Currently a Xero customer can chose to include or exclude late claims in a GST Return. What most Xero customers don’t appreciate is if they chose no then the late claim adjustment vanishes until their accountant prepares the year end reports. This can leave a client vulnerable and oblivious to significant errors over the course of a year. In my opinion at the vary least if a client says no then the late claims should be progressed to the next GST period. A phase two development could be providing the option of what adjustments can be included and what should…

VAT group feature - Option to prepare and finalise individual returns for non-MTD VAT organsiations
It would be great to see a feature that was specific to VAT groups so it's an easy experience (rather than importing and exporting figures)

VAT - Defer VAT lines to later periods
I would like to suggest the option to defer a vat liability to the next period.
In many cases, customers raise invoices, but then their customer does not pay for a time.
The customer in the meantime is forced to pay the vat putting him at a disadvantage.
I propose the option to defer a vat line item to the following period - in other words, remove it from the present tax return and allow it to reflect on the following tax return.
This is a great benefit to the customer from a cashflow viewpoint - especially the smaller businesses.2 votesHi Ingrihid, thanks for the idea and support here. We appreciate all the valuable feedback and ideas shared via our Product Ideas page.
I can see that you are based in South Africa and that your idea likely relates to the VAT 201 report. Our VAT 201 return has been developed to comply with SARS guidelines and the option to defer individual VAT line items would go against this. For more information on VAT compliance we would recommend reaching out to SARS directly.
You will see the VAT 201 return can only be run on an Accrual basis. Accrual basis includes all transactions by the transaction date, whereas payments basis includes all transactions by payment date.
It doesn't look like the option to create the VAT 201 on a payments basis has been raised. If this is something you would like to suggest, please feel free to raise this idea…

VAT 201 Report (ZA) - Separate column for invoice number
VAT201 Report (ZA) - A SARS requirement is to have sequential invoice numbers. The invoice numbers are not displayed on the VAT201 report, only the customer reference number, if there is no reference number, then the customer invoice number is displayed. Can we please have a column for the customer invoice number or only have the customer invoice number listed.

BAS - Stop autofilling T8 and T9 on BAS statement
Stop autho filling T8 and T9 fields on BAS statements in Xero blue as this creates errors when importing to Xero tax.

Pre VAT Registration Date - amendments on Vat returns
It would be very useful if Xero stopped pulling amendments from transactions before the VAT registration date onto the VAT Returns.
EG. Some transactions before the VAT registration date had 20% VAT on them, these were corrected after the first VAT return was completed. Which then was pulled onto a VAT return resulting in a reclaim position rather than paying HMRC.
