Reconciliation - Allow credit notes to show and be selected on the find & match screen
Ability to show and can select credit notes on the find & match screen.
Purpose: To save time rather than having to go in and allocate the credit note against an invoice then going back to the bank reconciliation screen.
820 votesHI team, excited to come back and share that the ability to find & match credit notes when reconciling has now been released to all customers. 😊
When you reconcile a credit note, Xero records a payment transaction against the credit note but doesn’t allocate it to an individual invoice or bill. This is similar to the process to apply a cash refund, but you don’t need to create the cash refund first.
We fully appreciate the feedback here, and will carefully consider other avenues you'd like to see this feature and the selection of credit notes to extend to. We'll keep you updated of any developments of these through related ideas here in the forums (I've linked the ideas I previously shared as well as a couple of others that you can easily support and stay up to date on)
We'd like to give a shout out to everyone…

Bank Reconciliation - Reconcile against Statement
We would like the ability to reconcile transactions against a statement in addition to just reconciling from the bank feeds.
There have been so many issues with bank feeds, that often we find the statement balance does not match Xero. The issue with running the reconciliation report is that some banks will have some transactions from the closing date in the current statement and some of them on the next statement. The only way for us to break it out and match the balance is to export transactions to a spreadsheet and then change the date of those transactions in…
80 votesHey everyone, thanks for your patience! We're excited to announce that period reconciliation is now available for all US and CA organizations.
As per my last update, you'll find a new "Reconcile Period" tab within your bank accounts. If you have the Standard or Advisor role, you can easily enter the statement period dates and balances. Xero will then automatically display and select all transactions within that timeframe. Once you've reconciled the period, you can close it to ensure no transactions are accidentally deleted or unreconciled.
We know that many of you in other regions are also keen to access this feature. So we can track this separately, I've created a new idea and have added all users that had voted here (outside of CA and US) to. If there are any updates we will share news with you all there.
Thanks for your feedback!

For Xero to expand their bank feed connections to develop feed that supports Unity trust bank
59 votesHi team, we now have a direct feed for Unity Trust Bank! You can connect Retail, Personal, Business, and Corporate account types with this feed, and your transactions will import daily.
We really appreciate your support and sharing with us on your interest for this feed here in Product ideas.

Bank Reconciliation - Recording refund through bank reconciliation tab
Recording refund through bank reconciliation tab rather than doing a cash refund on the bill/invoice
57 votesHi community, thank you for your value inputs and feedback here. We recently released the ability to reconcile credit notes meaning you can easily match a refund for your customer without needing to apply this separately to the credit note and then search for the refund payment to reconcile.
You'll find you can now search and select Credit Notes through Find & match when reconciling. When you reconcile a credit note this will apply a refund to the credit note transaction in Xero. Find out a little more on how this works on Xero Central, or dive into the demo company to try it out first 🙂
We appreciate this doesn't currently accommodate if you have created an overpayment for the original amount and we have a separate idea you may like to support for this here.

Bank Reconciliation - Ability to search Unreconciled status under 'Bank statement' tab
Under Bank Statements, you should be able to search all records with an Unreconciled Status. When you Search and select "Unreconciled" in the search bar, you still get ALL records -- reconciled and not.
31 votesHi everyone, thanks so much for bearing with us on this one! We know you've been waiting for an update, and while we haven't directly responded until now, please know that your feedback on this was absolutely shared with our product team.
We're really pleased to let you know that we've now released a fix for this! The filter for reconciliation status will now apply correctly on the Bank Statement or Account transaction pages of a bank account.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and helping us improve Xero – we genuinely appreciate your feedback here.

Bank Reconciliation - Search by reference within Account Transactions
We need the ability to search by reference within Account Transactions. The new search bar in the top appears to search reference fields, but not the search field under Account Transactions.
29 votesHi team, we're pleased to announce that being able to search the transactions reference or payment reference from the Account Transactions page of a bank account is now live to all users 🥳
Just click the search button on the right of this page to open the modal.
We appreciate hearing how this improvement could help you find what you need in the moment. Thanks

Reconciliation - Manually mark as reconciled multiple items at a time
There are some cases where banks do not have feeds available and the items posted as received or paid from these banks must be reconciled on an individual basis which takes a lot of time!
We need a reconcile all or a tick box system down the left hand side to be speed this reconciliation process up. I have many clients with these manual banks and it's extremely time consuming marking everything individually as reconciled.15 votesHi team, this is already possible. However you'll need to enable the mark as reconciled option on the Account Transactions tab of the bank account. If you click on the '?' icon in the top right of the blue banner you'll see an option to switch this on. Once turned on you can check the lines you need and select the More option where you'll be able to bulk Mark as Reconciled or Unreconciled. 😊

Bank Feed - Better Identification of Bank Institutions
When searching for a bank institution, you all should allow for searches for the bank URL home page and also include a logo of the bank with each institution. For example, 'First Bank' has 40 different institutions and each sound similar to the next. Please consider creating better identifiers for each bank institution Xero integrates with. (QBO does this)
13 votesHey everyone, great news on this one! You can now enter your bank's website address (URL) right into the search field. It's a handy way to help you pinpoint the exact bank you need and get your feed connected.
While logos don't appear on the search screen itself, you will see that for many banks, their logo will pop up on your dashboard once the account is connected.
Thanks for all your engagement on this idea!

Bank Account | Imported statement balance - Ability to edit
In the case of no transaction in a bank account, we can't import a blank CSV and so the statement balance date stays the date of the last import transaction.
I wish that we could modify the statement balance date to today's date even if no transaction occurred since the last import.
12 votesHi team, back again to confirm that this has now been rolled out to all regions.
As note in my last update the new Bank Reconciliation Summary report now gives you the ability to enter a Bank statement ending balance.
If you don't have an imported statement balance or the imported statement balance doesn't match your actual bank statement you can enter an amount and Xero will calculate the balance out by based on your input.

Bank Feeds - In-app alerts for current and historic outages
If Xero or a partner organisation should encounter issues which may lead to data integrity issues, we should receive an email alert or some kind of notification.
e.g. issues with Bank Feeds whereby there are duplicate or missing transactions. This has occurred a few times and we have only discovered, retrospectively, about the issue. We don't use Xero each day and certainly don't visit the Status page every day, such issues may well not come to light... by the time we visit the Status page a problem is quite likely to have been resolved and the status shows as OK,…
9 votesHey team 👋 We're thrilled to announce a change that we've made that addresses your idea here. We've added notices for bank feed disruptions directly on the Bank Accounts widget on your Xero Dashboard!
If there's a known issue, we'll tell you about it right then and there, allowing you to plan your day accordingly and know when to be extra vigilant with your reconciliation. We're also considering expanding this feature to include a wider range of real-time disruption alerts in the future.
We thank everyone who contributed to this idea and shared your experiences. Your feedback is what drives improvements like this. 🙂

Homepage - Option to hide graph for bank accounts
Bank Account Graphs on the Dashboard - I would LOVE to turn these off. They take up space and are of little value.
7 votesHi everyone, rounding back to confirm that the new Homepage experience has been rolled out to all users - This experience includes a redesigned Bank widget which does not include a graph.
We appreciate that for some the support in this was also to reduce the overall size of the widget and we have a separate idea that we'll be keeping users updated on any widget sizing changes through. We'd recommend adding your vote to that if this is something you'd also like to see.
Thanks again for engaging and contributing to the forums here.

New Bank Reconciliation report - Include note for foreign currency exchange
Exchange rate on bank reconciliation report
For foreign currency bank accounts, the old bank reconciliation report used to include a note stating that the exchange rate per xe.com that was used to translate the bank balance to the home currency at the report date. This was very useful information to include, as it confirmed the rate and the source of where that rate was obtained. This is not included on the new format bank reconciliation report pack. Please could this note be brought back on the new format reports?7 votesHi community, apologies we've not returned to this sooner. Pleased to share that foreign currency disclosures are now available in the Bank Reconciliation Summary report.

Navigation | Bank Rules - Add to Accounting menu
Add Bank Rules as an option to Accounting/Advanced options.
Much easier to navigate via Accounting dropdown menu than via Bank Accounts, eg when recoding transactions usually need to update a rule as well
6 votesHi community, we're pleased to share that Bank Rules are now an option directly from the Accounting menu within our new navigation experience. 😊
Ideas from the forum here were taken into consideration when planning changes and upgrading this navigation experience and we really appreciate your feedback in helping us develop Xero for our customers. 🙏

Chart of Accounts - Import new accounts from csv
Please give the option to import a list of new accounts to add to the existing Chart of Accounts.
We have created a new department with a couple dozen new accounts.
I'd like to be able to upload from a csv file rather than entering one by one manually since I already have the listed in a spreadsheet.
Currently, the only option is to reimport the entire Chart of Accounts with the new accounts added to the list. To me that is an unnecessary risk of overwriting hundreds of existing accounts.5 votesAppreciate your interest in this idea, team. I want to confirm that it's possible to import multiple new accounts to your existing chart of accounts through the use of a CSV import.
You'll want to export your existing chart of accounts, where you can add the new ones to the sheet. Save this as CSV, then re-import to your organisation - We have information on importing to your chart of accounts here, and you can test in the demo company if you'd like to try this out and view the results first.

History & notes - chart of accounts
It would be great (if not already available - I can't find it) to get an audit report whereby we can see changes made to a set of accounts after they have been submitted.
4 votesHi community, we have now released a change to the History & notes report so you can view changes to the Name or Type of an Account on screen, without having to click into the line of the report. This includes where you have updated chart of accounts via an import.
Thanks for sharing and feeding back what would help you working with Xero, here.

Bendigo Bank logo
Can you please update the Bendigo Bank logo to the new and updated version.
Xero currently uses the old logo.
3 votesHi team, thanks for your feedback and supporting this idea. I'm pleased to share that as part of a wider change we have recently released the Bendigo logo has also been updated across Xero and you should see this reflected in your organisation.

Bank Reconciliation - Navigate to top of page when moving between page
When Reconciling a large bank feed It would be good if the page went back to the top so that we did not have to scroll up every time.
At the moment when you get to the bottom and page forward it stays at the bottom of that screen3 votesHi team, rounding back to this idea and testing, it appears this actually may have been resolved when we released updates to Search and Filter within the Reconcile screen.
Now, when you scroll to the bottom of the page, and navigate between pages of statement lines you'll automatically be taken to the top of the following page.
If this is not the behaviour you're experiencing we'd recommend connecting with our specialists at Xero Support for a closer look in. Thanks!

Hi team, you can already set up a loan as a bank account, or as a non-current liability in Xero. We have some help on this in Xero Central.

Find and Recode - Find transactions before lock date
At the moment, if dates are locked, you can't see transactions in Find and Recode prior to that date. I often use Find and Recode to check the previous coding of contacts/accounts and in order to see them I need to unlock dates and then relock them again. It would useful if they could still be viewed despite dates being locked but perhaps those prior to the lock date are greyed out to show they can't be changed?
3 votesHi team, the ability to show locked transactions in Find & Recode has now been rolled out 🥳
You'll see a check box for this in the search area.
As mentioned in my last update this will show the transactions, however they will be read-only so you can view them in the search results but non-selectable to make changes. Thanks for your feedback on this here.

Demo Company (US) - Add the Reconcile Period feature
It'd be great if the new bank reconciliation feature called Reconcile Period was available in Demo Company (US) so we could test it out without impacting live data.
2 votesHi team, thanks for sharing how having reconcile period in the demo org would be useful to you.
I'd like to confirm this has been implemented and you'll be able to test the Reconcile period when using a US emo organisation.
The only thing to note is that in the demo org periods are not pre set so you'll just need to create your own. 😊
