Bank reconciliation - Import spend & receive money transactions
An import template for importing bank spend and receive money transactions. Now that Datadear is longer available for Xero clients as an app there is no way to import bank transactions
111 votesHi everyone, we appreciate the support we've received through this idea. Without beating around the bush we don't have any short term plans for enabling the import of spend and receive money transactions. This may be something we look into further down the track so we'll continue to track and review the idea here.
For Xero Partners you could look to use the Conversion toolbox to import bank transactions for your clients.

Bank Accounts - Set up loan schedule and amortization
I think we should be able to create with a loan schedule with interest rates, term and amortization instead of having to manually enter the transaction.
46 votesHi everyone, while we appreciate your interest in a direct feature in Xero to schedule and manage loans this isn't something we have planned right now.
We do have some information on Xero Central that may help some here with managing loans in Xero.
We will continue to monitor the community support for this in the forums here, and share if there are any updates.

Bank Rules - Set Reference to Custom Text
Ability to have custom text in the ‘set reference’ when setting up Bank Rules.
Purpose: This will save users’ time when they’re doing reconciliation each week.
39 votesHi team, while we appreciate the interest this idea is slowly gaining we want to be open that this isn't a feature planned for the time being.
We will continue to get a sense of the interest from the community around this and share if there are any changes to update you of.

General Ledger - Account reconciliation function
For accounts where transactions are posted and then additional transactions clear those transactions it would be great to have a reconciliation feature where these can be matched off (only when they net to zero). The the remaining unmatched transactions make up the account balance. This would save us hours each month.
37 votesHi, thanks for sharing this idea. This might be useful for situations such as suspense accounts, where entries are intended to net each other off.
We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

Settings - Ability to lock bank Reconciliation Period
To be able to lock the bank once reconciled, so no more transactions can be entered or manually forced through the bank
37 votesHi team, sorry it's taken so long for us to return to the idea here.
I appreciate the feedback from my last update where I suggested lock dates as an option and hear why this isn't a viable option for some.
If you're based in the US or CA you may want to check out our newer feature 'Reconcile period' that enables you to reconcile and close period within each bank account.
It'd be good to hear if users from other regions in this idea believe reconcile period would resolve what you're after here and I can merge in to this idea where we're continuing to track interest for expanding this feature to other region. Thanks

Bank Feeds - Square bank feed integration
Please please please Xero can you work on a proper Square bank feed integration so we don't have to keep using Amaka or other 3rd party connection apps!!!
Why can't we connect Square as a bank account with a feed similar to Stripe?!?! We are in 2024, square has been around for 15years!!I have so many issues with Square! And it is one of the most widely used payment processors!
A recent example -
A client has a coffee van and uses it to take payments for cups of coffee. I had to setup the Amaka integration so that…36 votesHi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback on a direct bank feed for Square. We understand that using a third-party integration isn't always seamless and that a direct feed, like the one for Stripe, would make life easier when reconciling your payments.
As noted by others here, the current solution is to connect an app from the Xero App Store to bring your Square transactions into Xero, or you can continue to manually import these.
Right now, building a direct bank feed for Square isn’t in our plans. We're continuing to monitor the interest in this idea, so please keep adding your votes and comments as it helps us see the demand.

Bank Feed - Chase bank
For Xero to expand their bank feed connections to develop feed that supports Chase bank UK
28 votesHi everyone, just a quick update to let you know that we are aware of this request, and we get that having a direct bank feed for Chase Bank UK would streamline your workflow and make reconciling much easier.
Currently, the best way to get your transactions into Xero is by manually importing your bank statements.
For now, we’ll keep an eye on the engagement and support for this bank feed here, and let you know when we have any updates on this.

Bank Feed - Investec (UK)
Currently, Xero facilitates bank feeds with Investec (South Africa) although does not allow bank feeds to be setup for the UK & Channel island branch - This connection needs to be setup.
26 votesHi everyone, really appreciate you sharing this idea.
We see how a direct feed for Investec (UK) would create a smoother workflow and save you time when reconciling.
In the meantime, the best option is to bring your transactions into Xero by manually importing your statements.
A direct feed for Investec (UK) isn't on our immediate roadmap right now. However, we're keeping this idea open for voting to see how much interest it gets from the community. Every vote and comment helps us understand the demand and prioritise what's most important to you all.

Cash Coding - Improve sorting and sort logic
Improve the sorting functionality within the Cash Coding screen to sort by Account. When I review the transactions (esp ones that have rules) it's difficult to assess if they've been categorized correctly and might need changes.
Additional ask would be to improve the sort logic that already exists. When you sort by Description it should show A-Z and then blanks at the bottom, or Z-A with blanks at the start. But you can see in the screenshot it's sorted by Description but one transaction is floating in the middle of blanks...why?
24 votesHi everyone! thank you so much for taking the time to share your idea with us! We really appreciate you flagging that the sorting function on cash coding isn't quite sorting the blanks first, but instead is just going straight from ascending to descending by date (or vice versa). We are moving this idea over now so it can gather more support from the rest of the community. Please feel free to share it with any of your peers who would also love to see this feature implemented.
We'll be keeping a close eye on this space in the meantime. Thanks again for your valuable input.

Fixed Assets - Suggestion for an Investment Boost Tracking Column in Depreciation Schedule (NZ)
Hi Xero,
For NZ, could we have a investment boost column for the deprecation schedule. This could be a 20% amount or no claim, or a yes/no?
This would make it easier when reviewing assets to see what new assets have been claimed under the incentive.
Regards
Brendan24 votesHi Natascha,

We’ve reviewed it, and it’s now open for community support. Feel free to share it with colleagues who may benefit so they can vote as well!

Bank Feeds - Automatic feed for Swiss banks
To establish bank feeds for Swiss banks in Xero.
Purpose: To save users time from having to manually import the statements from Swiss banks into Xero.
21 votesHi everyone, it's helpful to know that having bank feeds available for banks based in Switzerland is important to you.
You can view a full list of direct bank feeds available in your region here. As some of you have noted, if your bank does not currently have a feed available, the best option for now is to manually import your bank statements into Xero. This will help you keep your accounts up-to-date. You can find instructions on how to do this in our Xero Central article here: Import a bank statement.
Another way you can help is by letting your specific banks know that you’d like to see them integrate with Xero. We've found that banks are more likely to prioritise building a feed when they hear directly from their own customers. They can get in touch with our team to start the process here: Register your…

Reconcile period - Ability to attach files
Being able to attach files to a reconcile period. This would be useful to easily reference supporting documents like the statement the period has been reconciled off.

Bank Rules - Option for prepayments
There are often periodic top up payments for accounts (e.g. Tolls) and a periodic statement provided after the fact.
It would be useful to be able to set up a bank rule to apply these and reconcile the prepayments as the statements come in.
20 votesHey all, we really appreciate you joining in this conversation and adding your votes.
We've reviewed this idea, and now it's up to the wider community to get behind it.
You might like to share this idea with any colleagues that this could benefit, so they can also add their votes and comments to support it.

Bank | Reconcile period - Ability to delete draft period
Thanks for adding this feature. I'm trying it and I noticed that if you copy and paste a value with a $ in it, it will not paste properly. Sometimes when you copy paste opening or closing balances from PDF it copies including the dollar sign.
Please allow to paste the value with the $ in it.
Also, there doesnt seem to be any way of deleting a draft period. Please consider adding a small garbage bin icon in the period list and inside the period.
Thanks!
20 votesHi community, we appreciate the support this idea is starting to gain. Our product teams are considering this idea among other improvements as they plan their roadmap and I'll update here if there's progress.
For the time being, you can change the dates to essentially reset this to the period you want to reconcile.
To open the period in an editable state from the 'All periods' list:
- Select the "Continue" button on a draft period, or
- Select "Edit" on a locked period, then "Continue" in the modal to unlock it
From there select the 'Edit date range' button in the top right hand side and change the dates to the period you want to work on. You can also click into the "Opening statement balance" and "Closing statement balance" fields to update these.

Lock date - Separate lock dates for sales Tax and accounting period
Separation between Sales Tax/VAT/GST lock date and accounting period lock date.
It would save a significant amount of time if VAT periods in Xero could have a separate lock date than the accounting period lock date. For instance, an invoice/bank transaction is still outstanding when filing a VAT return, and the VAT return date could be locked so once this outstanding transaction is completed at a later date, it would automatically appear on the next VAT return. This should be separated from the accounting period lock dates, as you still want to account for that transaction in it's relevant period,…18 votesHi everyone, thanks for all your votes and comments on this idea. Just a quick update to let you know that this request is still open for voting and comments from the community.
We're keeping an eye on the demand for this idea here, and will be sure to post another update if changes are made in this area.

Westpac Foreign Currency Feeds (AU)
Ability to set up bank feeds for foreign currency Westpac accounts. For those that bank with Westpac in Australia
17 votesThanks for sharing your feedback and votes for adding Westpac foreign currency account feeds, community.
While a direct feed isn't currently available for these accounts, you can still keep up-to-date in Xero by manually importing your transactions.
Just to give you a bit of insight into how these feeds are built – we rely on our banking partners to make specific account types available to us. The best way to get this on Westpac's radar is for them to hear directly from you, so we encourage you to reach out to them and request support for foreign currency account bank feeds.
For this reason, we're unable to say if or when feeds might be available for these accounts, but we'll continue to keep an eye on the support for this idea, and let you know if there are any changes in this area.

Hey everyone! The ability to manually refresh your bank feed really depends on the type of connection you have. For many banks connected via Yodlee, you can already give the feed a nudge and refresh it manually within Xero when you're ready to reconcile. Some of our direct API connections also support this, with a few even importing transactions in near real-time.
As this feature is only available on some feeds, we've moved this idea's status to 'Gaining Support' to align with our new statuses for Xero Product ideas. You can read more about this on our blog.
While building a manual refresh option for every feed type is not on our immediate roadmap, we're keeping a close eye on your votes and comments to help us gauge demand for future work.

Multi-Entity - Intercompany Account Transaction Feed
There should be an ability to set up an intercompany account using the bank feed function between businesses that are 'connected'. This would save countless hours manually journalling transactions. You should be able to create a transaction in the bank feed, or mark an invoice as paid by the intercompany account and the corresponding transaction should show on the respective other company.
16 votesHi everyone, just a quick update from our team. To align with the changes made to Xero Product Ideas, we've updated the status of this idea here.
We encourage everyone who would find this feature useful to please keep voting and sharing your comments below. Learning more about what you would use this for and how it would help your business helps our product team understand the potential impact. Your detailed feedback is a crucial part of our evaluation process.

Bank Feed - Connect SumUp as a bank account
It would be great to be able to connect a normal SumUp account like you can Stripe or PayPal not just SumUp POS.
14 votesHi everyone, thanks for your votes on this idea. While we're always interested in integrating with more banks, the most effective way to get a new feed established is for customers to request it directly from their bank. The more that SumUp hears from its own customers that a Xero integration for bank feeds is needed, the more likely they are to work with us to build one.
For now, you can manually import your SumUp transaction data into Xero using QIF, OFX, or CSV file types. You can find detailed instructions on how to do this in the Xero Central article below.
This idea is open for voting and comments, and we'll continue to keep an eye on the interest for this idea here.
