  1. Hi Xero,

For NZ, could we have a investment boost column for the deprecation schedule. This could be a 20% amount or no claim, or a yes/no?

This would make it easier when reviewing assets to see what new assets have been claimed under the incentive.

    Regards
    Brendan

Others can also comment to add context and explain how this enhancement would improve their Xero experience ☺️

  2. An import template for importing bank spend and receive money transactions. Now that Datadear is longer available for Xero clients as an app there is no way to import bank transactions

Hi everyone, we appreciate the support we've received through this idea. Without beating around the bush we don't have any short term plans for enabling the import of spend and receive money transactions. This may be something we look into further down the track so we'll continue to track and review the idea here.

For Xero Partners you could look to use the Conversion toolbox to import bank transactions for your clients.

  3. For accounts where transactions are posted and then additional transactions clear those transactions it would be great to have a reconciliation feature where these can be matched off (only when they net to zero). The the remaining unmatched transactions make up the account balance. This would save us hours each month.

Hi, thanks for sharing this idea. This might be useful for situations such as suspense accounts, where entries are intended to net each other off.

We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

Along with votes, other members can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero.

  4. I think we should be able to create with a loan schedule with interest rates, term and amortization instead of having to manually enter the transaction.

Hi team, while we appreciate the interest this idea is slowly gaining we want to be open that this isn't a feature planned for the time being.

We will continue to get a sense of the interest from the community around this and share if there are any changes to update you of.

  6. Please please please Xero can you work on a proper Square bank feed integration so we don't have to keep using Amaka or other 3rd party connection apps!!!
Why can't we connect Square as a bank account with a feed similar to Stripe?!?! We are in 2024, square has been around for 15years!!

I have so many issues with Square! And it is one of the most widely used payment processors!

    A recent example -
A client has a coffee van and uses it to take payments for cups of coffee. I had to setup the Amaka integration so that…

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback on a direct bank feed for Square. We understand that using a third-party integration isn't always seamless and that a direct feed, like the one for Stripe, would make life easier when reconciling your payments.

As noted by others here, the current solution is to connect an app from the Xero App Store to bring your Square transactions into Xero, or you can continue to manually import these.

Right now, building a direct bank feed for Square isn’t in our plans. We're continuing to monitor the interest in this idea, so please keep adding your votes and comments as it helps us see the demand.

Hi team, sorry it's taken so long for us to return to the idea here.

I appreciate the feedback from my last update where I suggested lock dates as an option and hear why this isn't a viable option for some.

If you're based in the US or CA you may want to check out our newer feature 'Reconcile period' that enables you to reconcile and close period within each bank account.

It'd be good to hear if users from other regions in this idea believe reconcile period would resolve what you're after here and I can merge in to this idea where we're continuing to track interest for expanding this feature to other region. Thanks

  8. Improve the sorting functionality within the Cash Coding screen to sort by Account. When I review the transactions (esp ones that have rules) it's difficult to assess if they've been categorized correctly and might need changes.

Additional ask would be to improve the sort logic that already exists. When you sort by Description it should show A-Z and then blanks at the bottom, or Z-A with blanks at the start. But you can see in the screenshot it's sorted by Description but one transaction is floating in the middle of blanks...why?

Hi everyone! thank you so much for taking the time to share your idea with us! We really appreciate you flagging that the sorting function on cash coding isn't quite sorting the blanks first, but instead is just going straight from ascending to descending by date (or vice versa). We are moving this idea over now so it can gather more support from the rest of the community. Please feel free to share it with any of your peers who would also love to see this feature implemented.

We'll be keeping a close eye on this space in the meantime. Thanks again for your valuable input.

  9. When reconciling bank transactions in Blue Xero, the "Split" option is currently only available at the individual transaction level in the "1. Find & select matching transactions" section.

It would be much more efficient if the "Split" option were also available in the "2. View your selected transactions" section. This would allow users to first select all invoices or bills that form part of a single payment, and then apply the split at that point, rather than needing to split each invoice or bill individually.

Additionally, if an invoice is selected without being split and the user moves on to…

Hi Natascha thanks for raising this here. Appreciate the need for having Split payment available on both steps. We're moving this idea to gain more support from the community. We'll monitor this space for more traction. You can now share this idea with your friends and colleagues so they can add their vote too.

  10. Overpayments should appear in the Find & Match for Customers.
If a customer pays their correct amount owing, but an overpayment on their account hasn't been allocated against an invoice, it is impossible to reconcile.
Users have to go into Contacts, check if there is an overpayment, allocate the overpayment against an invoice then go back into the Bank Reconciliation page.
Users should be able to tick the invoices being paid and the overpayment that was used to reconcile in Find & Match.

Hi everyone, we thoroughly appreciate the interest and sharing how this feature would be beneficial to you here.

As you may have seen when reconciling or through other updates, we have introduced credit notes into the reconcile experience where you can now find and select credit notes directly from the Find & Match screen.

We understand there are other transactions types our customer would like this functionality extended to and are continuing to consider how we may expand this overtime.

We will share further any further updates around this with you here. Thanks

  11. Thanks for adding this feature. I'm trying it and I noticed that if you copy and paste a value with a $ in it, it will not paste properly. Sometimes when you copy paste opening or closing balances from PDF it copies including the dollar sign.

Please allow to paste the value with the $ in it.

Also, there doesnt seem to be any way of deleting a draft period. Please consider adding a small garbage bin icon in the period list and inside the period.

    Thanks!

Hi community, we appreciate the support this idea is starting to gain. Our product teams are considering this idea among other improvements as they plan their roadmap and I'll update here if there's progress.

For the time being, you can change the dates to essentially reset this to the period you want to reconcile.

To open the period in an editable state from the 'All periods' list:

    • Select the "Continue" button on a draft period, or
    • Select "Edit" on a locked period, then "Continue" in the modal to unlock it

From there select the 'Edit date range' button in the top right hand side and change the dates to the period you want to work on. You can also click into the "Opening statement balance" and "Closing statement balance" fields to update these.

  12. There are often periodic top up payments for accounts (e.g. Tolls) and a periodic statement provided after the fact.

It would be useful to be able to set up a bank rule to apply these and reconcile the prepayments as the statements come in.

  13. Bank Transfers - they are great and easy - but it would be awesome if we could just improve them in the following ways - some of these suggestions incorporates other suggestions - but thinking if you are working on improving this functionality - it would be great to do it all at once. Currently when you create a transfer from the Bank feed - you can only select a bank account and enter a reference - it would be great if you could also, add tracking code(s) on that screen too (as currently if you need to attach tracking…

Hi team, returning to this idea here we do appreciate the interest in improvements and how we could make the process of reconciling transfers simpler when there are additional details or actions needed.

Being open we're unlikely to deliver all the points raised in this idea at once and it's best for our product teams to understand the interest in each separately.

We do have existing ideas that relate to most of these elements and I've linked to below, and I will edit the title of the idea here to reflec the ability to attach a file when reconciling a Transfer. Please do add your vote to each that matters to you and we'll be sure to share if there is any pogress for that idea respectively. Thanks

Hi everyone, really appreciate you sharing this idea.

We see how a direct feed for Investec (UK) would create a smoother workflow and save you time when reconciling.

In the meantime, the best option is to bring your transactions into Xero by manually importing your statements.

A direct feed for Investec (UK) isn't on our immediate roadmap right now. However, we're keeping this idea open for voting to see how much interest it gets from the community. Every vote and comment helps us understand the demand and prioritise what's most important to you all.

  15. Separation between Sales Tax/VAT/GST lock date and accounting period lock date.
It would save a significant amount of time if VAT periods in Xero could have a separate lock date than the accounting period lock date. For instance, an invoice/bank transaction is still outstanding when filing a VAT return, and the VAT return date could be locked so once this outstanding transaction is completed at a later date, it would automatically appear on the next VAT return. This should be separated from the accounting period lock dates, as you still want to account for that transaction in it's relevant period,…

Hi team, while we appreciate the support here we want to be open that we don't have any plans for introducing the ability to undo or reverse a find & recode that has been performed. We appreciate the impact using the feature can have which is why it is currently only available to users with the Advisor role and we also suggest checking in with your adviser before making use of this feature.

  17. It would save numerous steps if:

When a new account is created from within a transaction (for instance spend money or journal entry) the option to add a reporting name was available, instead of having to update later through the chart of chart of accounts.

When creating a new account, through the chart of accounts or elsewhere, that the Report Code mapping category could be allocated at the same time.

Hi everyone, thanks so much for all your feedback and support on this idea!

We know that sometimes you need to create a new account on the go—like when you’re right in the middle of entering a spend money transaction or a journal. But at the moment, you can’t create a new COA account then and there.

The current workaround is to create the account first from the Chart of Accounts before doing your actual task. While that gets the job done, we understand it’s not the most efficient way to work, especially when you’re trying to keep momentum.

This idea is now in the Gaining Support stage. We’re keeping an eye on how much interest it’s getting, and your votes and comments help show the value this would bring to your day-to-day.

  18. Being able to attach files to a reconcile period. This would be useful to easily reference supporting documents like the statement the period has been reconciled off.

  20. Instead of referring to reconcile transactions, it would be better to refer to categorise or allocate transactions.

Bank transactions are categorised - we tell Xero what each transaction is for - answers "What was this for?" However at present this is called Reconcile transactions

Reconciling an Account - is matching the above transactions to the bank's records (statement) - checking that every transaction in Xero matches what actually happened in the bank account and the end balance matches.

The terminology seems to confuse some and they think by categorising/allocating a transaction they have reconciled the account.

Thanks for your feedback and for pointing out how the term "Reconcile" can be confusing—especially for those new to Xero or bookkeeping.

We get that using clearer terms like "Categorise" or "Allocate" might feel more intuitive and help reduce confusion when working through bank reconciliation.

Right now, this idea’s open for feedback and support, so feel free to keep voting and sharing how a change like this could help in your day-to-day.
