Inventory - Ability to set more criteria of when inventory is recognised / available for sale
Add the option on Bills to allow businesses to make Tracked Inventory available upon creation of Bill, or unavailable until the Due Date (or available date) of the Bill has passed.
This new option would help businesses manage available inventory when selling products with long production lead-times, so they do not sell inventory that is not yet available despite it being in the system in a future dated Bill.
Additionally, it would be beneficial if Sales Invoices could access the Tracked Inventory from the future dated Bill if the date of the invoice was after the due date (or available…
1 voteHi Benjamin, appreciate your response and providing more information about your idea from our last update. Understand how you're asking for more rules/criteria to enable your business more control over when tracked inventory can be sold.
I'll re-open your idea here so we can get a wider sense of the interest from community, however want to be open that we don't have plans for developing this at this time. If there are any updates we'll share with you here.

Inventory - Add additional information to the Inventory Item List report
Inventory Item List.
Included in this report is the unit cost which is manually set. Would it also be possible to please add another cost field to the report ? I would like to see the last PO unit cost. Any variance would be used to update the unit cost if in NZD

Inventory - Calculating return on investment (ROI)
For businesses who have invested in equipment and generate an income from the hire or use of the equipment. The ability to calculate (through analytics or a report) the % 'Return On Investment'.
The data is already in Xero (cost of good/equipment purchased VS total sales), just needs a simple way to display this info and calculated in a % and/or just view the data simply and easily.
Currently have to create your own Excel spreadsheet and input that data from Xero manually. Seems a simple report/statistic to generate and would be incredibly useful for business who need to know…6 votesHi Simon, it's great to hear how automated ROI calculations would help your business.
We’ve reviewed your idea and moved it to Gaining support, which means others in the community can now vote, comment, and share how this would benefit them too. The more perspectives added, the clearer the picture for our product team, so feel free to expand on your workflow to help spark that conversation.
In the meantime, the best way to calculate ROI is to pull the relevant figures from the Xero Analytics dashboard and work it out manually.
Thanks for getting the discussion started and we’ll keep you updated on any progress.

XIP - Modify "Available Inventory" Column on Sales Orders Fulfillment
Currently, it just says "Available" or "Unavailable" which doesn't tell you much. Instead, it should put the ETA date based on POs if the material is on an open purchase order for the product on the Sales Order.
Additional detail: In XIP, when you go to Sales > Fulfillment, it'd be extremely useful to modify the "Available Inventory" column. Based on common practices in other inventory management systems, there would be three statuses: In stock Out of Stock (displayed when no inventory is in stock to fulfill the sales order) Partially in Stock (displayed when some inventory is in stock,…

Inventory - Select items and create transaction from Inventory items list
To Be able to use the products and services multi select buttons to create a quote or invoice.
Example.
Go into products and services
Select all products needed via the tick boxes.
Click the 3 dots in the top right of screen.
Have option to add all selected items to quote or to invoice.
Continue normal quote/invoice process from there. This will then speed up the process if companies (like ours) that have similar product codes but in different sizes that are bought together or that go out with other products.

Tracked inventory - Add opening stock when creating new item
When entering a new stock item, there isn't an opening to enter opening stock.
We need to create the item first then enter the quantities in an adjustment tab.
It makes sense to make adjustments to items already created, but surely we should be able enter an opening stock value when creating an item, this would save us a lot of time.15 votesHi, thanks for sharing this idea about setting the opening stock for a tracked item at the same time you add it.
Now it's up to the community to get behind and support your idea with their votes and comments about how this would help them, too.
As for how this is currently done, as well as setting the item's starting Quantity on Hand, there needs to be an accounting record for where the existing Value comes from.
The current process is to add the item(s) as Tracked and then either:
- Importing the opening balances for your tracked items. *This option is only for when you first start using Tracked Inventory in your organisation*.
- Entering an approving a Supplier Bill to record the first purchase of the item.
- Entering an Adjustment (Increase Quantity-type) to move the value from another account (the adjustment account) to the Inventory Asset Account.

Inventory - Set default prices with tax inclusive/exclusive treatment
I have entered selling prices excluding GST but have noticed that some personnel have been invoicing inc GST yet xero hasn't adjusted the price of the item to add 10%. I need the item price to be the same either way of invoicing.
Can we make this happen some how ? so the price of the item is the same either way. MYOB manages to adjust it, you just set the price as either including or excluding and it adjusts it automatically when charged out. Maybe Xero should aim to improve this aspect of the program.
7 votesHi Kelly
Thanks for this suggestion. You're right that currently the tax inclusive/exclusive setting on the invoice would change the overall invoice total.

In the meantime, you might want to tell all staff to enter invoices with the same tax treatment, to avoid accidentally under/overcharging for the same item. If you create all invoices on a tax-inclusive basis, you can enter the default sales price for your items including GST. Otherwise, you would need to enter the prices excluding GST.

Inventory - In-built calculator for Sale Price
Xero features a handy inbuilt calculator on its invoices. However, this feature is rather useless if one is populating the invoice with inventory items ("Products and Services") where the Cost Price and Sale Price have already been set, or migrating said items from Projects to a new invoice.
Having the inbuilt calculator in the Sale Price text box when setting up or updating Inventory Items would eliminate the need to keep switching from Xero to a calculator app to apply the correct markup for each item. Better yet would be a dropdown menu feature like is found in Projects to…

Inventory - Add multiple suppliers for same product
When adding products from suppliers, it would be great to be able to add multiple suppliers details on one product (to save having the same item listed multiple times with each individual suppliers codes/costs etc). For example Supplier 1: Coca Cola Cans, Code: 1234 Cost: £12.99, Supplier 2: Coca Cola Cans, Code: A1244, Cost: £19.50. Rather have Coca Cola saved twice had sections within that product for multiple suppliers.

API Apps - Allow the API to remove items archived in Xero from Hike POS.
From the people at Hike POS:
"We’d like to inform you that when a product is archived or removed in Xero, it does not automatically become inactive or get removed in Hike. This is due to API limitations on the Xero side that currently prevent this type of sync."Please update you API to allow syncing of archive products.

Inventory - Update unit prices from a future date
ABILITY TO AUTOMATICALLY CHANGE ITEM PRICE ON A SPECIFIC DATE
Obviously item prices vary and when we give customers notice of a price change, sometimes this is months in advance. Now I know I could add a note to the item, but seriously, this would mean checking the notes for every item which would become very tiresome + time consuming.
I would like the ability to be able to go into a line item and be able to change the price of the item on a specific date, so that it when that date comes the item price has automatically…11 votesHi Kirstie
Thanks for sharing this idea about setting future prices for inventory items.
It's now up to the community to get behind and support your idea. Other members can now add their votes and comments about how this could also benefit them.
In the meantime, you'd need to edit the price at the relevant date, either manually or by exporting and importing your items if you need to update lots of prices at the same time.

Inventory - Warning of item code duplicate
Item code duplication notification prior to adding all the purchase and sales details or if it is duplicated make it editable while entering invoices without having to go out and into the inventory tab.
12 votesThanks for your feedback, Sue. Not something we have immediate changes for but we'll begin to get a sense of the interest from your idea here.

Tracked Inventory - Add Sales invoice number of COGS journal
When COGS posts via tracked stock on a sales invoice, record the sales invoice number the COGS value relates to in the nominal ledger. There is already a field for this, but Xero does not populate it.
10 votesThanks for sharing this idea. We can see how showing the related sales invoice number on COGS journal lines for tracked inventory would improve your business reporting and make it easier to trace costs back to the transaction.
This request aligns with internal work and planning to improve the information captured between journals, source invoices, and inventory items. We appreciate your support while we continue assessing the best way to deliver this.

Inventory - Add a Description column or preview to the Products and Services list
The option to view the product descriptions when in the Product and Services list should already be a feature.
Many of our products have an abbreviated item name, with the description containing the expanded product information. Opening individual products to view the description takes a significant amount of time as we have over 1,500 items.
It is also the product description, not the product item name, that appears on invoices to customers, so it only makes sense to be able to view the descriptions from the P&S list.
7 votesHi Community! 👋
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m happy to share that this is now in development.
With this update, you’ll be able to choose whether to show or hide the sell and purchase description column on the Products and services list page.
I’ll circle back here again once the change has rolled out. 🙂🙏

Inventory - Allow changing of an item's Inventory Asset Account
For tracked inventory items, there's no way to change the inventory asset account which can be inconvenient. As the inventory grows, they are put under new different classifications so I want to add a new inventory asset account for each. However, I cannot change it in the item's inventory asset account when it is already tracked. It would be very helpful if this will be allowed. Or at least a way to delete a tracked item if there's no transactions/bills, but only adjustments.

Products and services - View average cost as a column
Products & Servicesw - Add Avergae Cost Column
Suggestion - Add the option to show and hide the average cost of a product.

Products and Services - Add "In committed quotes" and "Quantity on order" to the columns in the main page & reports
This will allow a more accurate look on the stocks pre-ordered as well as incoming stocks. Instead of having to click each item to see it.
Even in the reports, it's great to see it so we can just generate a quick report about it.
12 votesHi team, we appreciate the value some businesses would find in being able to report on values of items that have been committed in quotes or quantities on order from purchase orders. While this isn't something we have plans around right now, we'll continue to track the interest for this from your idea here and share if there are any plans made.

Inventory - Show invoices and contacts the item was sold to
When looking up product history Xero lists what invoices product was sold on. It would also be nice to be able to see the customer's name. This would make things much easier when trying to look up pricing assigned to specific customers.
10 votesHi Kevin, with this information available in a few reports atm there aren't any plans to add contact to the Latest transactions section when viewing a Product or services in Xero.
You could run the Inventory Item Details, or Receivable/Payable Invoice Detail reports, to see the transactions and contacts for an item.

Inventory - Sync products from Xero to Stripe
I would like to use Mailerlite with stripe and xero to sell my products. When I log into stripe my products catalogue is empty. I need my products in stripe to be able to use the Mailerlite landing page to sell my products
