  1. Allow front-loaded revenue (such as annual subscriptions or project fees) to be automatically allocated to Unearned Income (i.e. a liability) and then gradually transferred to earned Subscription Sales Revenue.

    As a small business owner which sells hundreds of annual subscriptions to our service (different price packages and different start dates for each customer), it would be really handy to know how much of that received money has been 'earned' and how much remains 'Unearned Income'.   2. On my Home Screen dashboard, I'd like to see current month profit loss instead of last month. Please add this feature as it captures more live reporting daily

  3. It's a huge problem for me that when billing fails for an entity, no notification is sent to the billing contact, only the subscriber (me) gets notified. If I'm on holiday, and something goes wrong with billing, people get locked out of the platform.

    There should at least be an option for the billing contact to receive these messages, if not the default setting. I can't think of any reason I wouldn't want my billing contact to know that the payment to Xero has failed. My book-keeper doesn't know something has gone wrong until she is locked out of Xero.

  5. Small businesses increasingly want to understand the environmental and social impact of their spending — but ESG tools are complex, expensive, and built for large enterprises.

    Xero is uniquely placed to change that.

    Idea:
    Embed lightweight, real-time ESG context directly into Xero, so small businesses can understand the impact behind everyday transactions — without extra systems or reporting burden.

    What this could look like:
    • ESG indicators at transaction or supplier level (e.g. climate, labour, governance risk)
    • Simple, plain-English insights alongside payments and invoices
    • Optional summaries over time (e.g. “This quarter’s spend impact”)

  6. Can you please provide a way to display a list of functions and reports that a user has already opened so that you don't have to constantly click click click to get back to them. For example, you open a report and then do something else, can you please provide a way to get back to that open report with just one click.   8. When we receive communication from Xero regarding a case query, it is necessary to log into Xero again to read the answer
    This is time consuming and annoying- would love a fix for this.
    Is there a way to view the answer and perhaps log in when we are ready to respond?

  10. At the moment when you go to Organisation Settings > Subscription and billing (e.g. https://go.xero.com/Settings/ManageSubscription), it says "Change plan and update credit card details Managed by XXXX"

    If we are XXXX - we don't see either of those things, only a button to take us somewhere else to Manage the plan.
    If we are not XXXX - we don't see either of those things.

    How dumb?

    Just show the Xero subscription/plan so we know what it is.

    Hi Sam, appreciate you sharing this idea — we understand where you're coming from.

    Being able to quickly see your Xero subscription plan from within your organisation’s settings would definitely make things easier. Having to jump to a different section just to check your plan or see what features are included isn’t ideal, especially when you’re trying to make quick decisions.

    At the moment, this info isn’t shown in the Organisation Settings, but you can view your plan by going to My Xero from the main menu and clicking on the Subscriptions tab. That’s where you’ll find your current plan and any add-ons.

    This idea is now in the Gaining Support stage. If this change would make things simpler for you, feel free to vote or leave a comment — your feedback helps us understand what matters most and where we can improve.

  12. Things like tax returns change fairly frequently. Not all new features are entirely self-explanatory. Xero Support's Articles are simple and aimed at giving new users basic information, but often lack the detail to be used as an ongoing resource.

    I'd suggest adding changelogs to Xero Central Support pages/articles for existing products that have been updated.

    For example the IR6 tax return has changed in the 2025 year to match tax law. Estates are still able to use the 33% tax rate in their first 4 years, but the return defaults to the 39% rate.

    what I would like is a button on a support case which allows me to create a product idea linked to the support case, so i don't need to copy and paste the entire case history into the product idea

    Aah I see what you mean now, and appreciate you sharing more detail, Anna.

    In terms of the original idea, you can reply directly to the email update you received about the status if there is extra detail you'd like to share with the team - In this case I've merged your original idea with this one to keep the information all together.

    We don't have immediate plans for this, but will keep considering how we improve their efficiency when engaging and sharing feedback. We'll track the support here and share if there are any updates. Thanks

  14. The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) allows partners to fill out and submit a Partnership Tax Return (PTR) without being a registered tax agent or accountant. However, TPR is currently only available in Xero Tax, which is a professional tax preparation software package designed specifically (and only) for registered tax agents and accountants.

    Can I request that (like BAS and TPAR) the PTR report and lodgement features be made available in the base Xero software?

  15. There isn't anywhere in Xero where we can add brief feedback. This would be helpful to have in the help menu please.

    For example there is a new issue after the new updates on invoicing - this feature would allow a quick notification to Xero that something needs fixed or we are super impressed with new changes! It takes too long to add something to product ideas (like now), to be ignored or gather a lot of voters before something is fixed. Same with raising a case, most of the time it wont be a fix, we get directed back…

    Though there is no direct way to leave feedback in the product atm, there are now many ways our team's are surfacing in product messaging to updates users of a change and request feedback especially through staggered releases.

    We'll continue to consider how and when is best to engage with customers through Xero and will keep a watchful eye on support for your idea here.

  16. Xero now has a vast database of businesses many of which are profitable, and many of which are probably less so. At any rate, it has access many savvy business individuals who have capital willing to invest within and outside of their boarders. Perhaps it could create a meeting place for willing buyers and sellers of businesses. I for one am ready to retire. My business is marginal but has opportunities for someone who wants to get into my domestic market.

    Very interesting idea, Myles. It's not something that exists atm, but I've shared back with our team that manage our website. We'll keep an eye on the interest from others in this here and let you know if there's any updates to share.

  17. In regard to client monthly charges being oncosted via billing, would it be possible for you to run a report of any other files that are dormant. Files that are being paid for and not used?

    Out of interest is there anything in particular you'd like to be able to download your support conversations for? e.g would you be wanting to share these somewhere else or file them somewhere to have on hand? This'd be great to share back with our team.

    For the time being, as you might've found (though a little manual) - you can copy & paste the detail of a support case internal an external document such as Google Docs or MS Word.

  19. Financial reporting is a critical business need of any business using software. Its strange that Xero dont have this as a catagory under Small business ideas. Can we add "Reports" as a catagory. Xero is poor compared to quickbooks now so need to udnerstand if its ever going to change or whether we need to move. I will only be able to gauge this if there are lots or zero user ideas on reporting (perhaps its only me that thinks its "ok but not great"

    Hi Robert, to give a bit of an update here as you may have seen through our Xero blog we have some changes that are coming that includes a simpler navigation.

    Along side this we will be looking to make some updates to also simplify and make it easier for our customers to categorise their ideas in the forums here.

    Totally get how having Reporting as it's own option would make sense and that is something we're looking at directly as part of this. I'll share as soon as we're confirmed on the new structure.

  20. Xero made a lot of noise about how good the 'new invoicing' feature would be. Users gave plenty of feedback early on when new invoicing was optional, both in comments and by not switching over to new invoicing. Xero proceeded with the change seemingly unaware of the negative mood amongst users to the new invoicing feature.

    The product ideas section show, only in it's first 5 pages, 43 product ideas about new invoicing. Many of these product ideas are requests for previously available features to be made available again. Many of the ideas are under consideration or being worked on.

    Appreciate your feedback, Martin. I can assure you throughout the build of new invoicing we have engaged and tested out features with many different users. To keep customers informed throughout we have shared blog posts and regularly update our Xero Central page with what's been delivered and what's to come.

    Being such a widely used feature, we have focused on features that suit majority of our customers needs. We appreciate some customers still want to see more development and we are continuing to enhance this new invoicing experience.

    Our products teams have conducted lots of research and testing to refine deliveries, and Xero Product Ideas here is another great way for us to understand what matters most to our customers - As you noted, we are listening and keeping users updated as developments progress with the status updates.
