I am writing to formally raise concerns about the ongoing system outages, performance issues, and the broader impact these disruptions are having on my ability to complete client work.
Over recent months, Xero has experienced repeated outages too many changes and significant slowdowns. These issues directly affect productivity, delay essential bookkeeping and compliance tasks, and ultimately result in lost income. As a bookkeeper who relies on Xero daily, this level of instability is becoming increasingly difficult to manage.

Opportunity to Improve Purchases Module and Invoice Automation in Xero
Dear Xero Team,
I would like to share a constructive observation regarding the Purchases module, specifically around the management and automated processing of bills.
From a user perspective, the bills segment currently feels underserved and lacking ongoing optimization. This represents a clear opportunity for improvement and growth. Many of us who use Xero regularly recognize that the automated invoice capture and processing system does not meet expectations, particularly in terms of data extraction accuracy.

Pop out for JAX
Create a button on Jax that allows the dialog box to "Pop Out" or detach from Xero. It makes no sense that I have to copy directions from Jax to paste into Word so I can follow the often multi-step instructions that cannot be done while Jax is active.

Request for Duplicate Invoice Submission Prompt
Hi Xero Support Team,
We would like to suggest a system enhancement. Could you please explore the possibility of having a prompt message appear to vendors whenever a duplicate invoice is submitted to us?
Currently, duplicate submissions create additional manual checks and reconciliation work for our Finance team. A prompt at the point of submission would help prevent errors, reduce rework, and improve efficiency.

timed log out
The automatic, timed log-out leaves data visible on screen for a few seconds before reverting to a log-in screen. This may be browser specific (I tend to use Chrome) but there is a small security or privacy risk when this happens if whoever sees it isn't meant to. And once you know it happens, you can plan for it. I haven't tried it yet, but a screengrab seems a simple approach. I'm not clear on the mechanism to fix this, however, but I thought it would be a good, if trivial, improvement.

link to XPM dashboard from Xero tax returns
When I have finished working in a tax return, I would like to return to the XPM dashboard directly, rather than having to click back to the client, client list or job list. Would it be possible to add a dashboard button at the top menu?

Having different user access levels for different reports and areas of business
Within Xero, the current “Invoice Only” user access level could be enhanced to allow access to reports that are directly relevant to their role. This would include areas such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, and customer and supplier reports, while still restricting access to broader financial reports like the Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet.
Although users with this profile can enter, approve, and pay invoices, they are currently unable to generate key supporting reports such as receivables ageing to follow up overdue debtors or payables reports to monitor outstanding obligations. Clarity on Statements
When sending clients statements, clients cannot view their payments clearly. For example our client made a payment on 8th September however all he could see was the allocation rather then the actual payment.

Visual communication between client and accountant
I need to be able to leave a note (like postit note) somewhere in the product to my accountant. They would be notified and be able to go exactly to the view I have a question/comment about and respond right there.

Name, dates and times on Xero chat support logs
When speaking to Xero support on a chat can Xero show the date, time of each part of the chat please like most other providers do each time each party of the chat types something in. It's really handy to refer back to.

Subscribe to Status updates
Ability to be able to subscribe (via email) to Status updates and incidents for all or selected options within Xero, via the Status page.
A problem with Projects the other day, there was NO alert, no notification. I was entering data thinking it was being saved. Only by accident did I notice my whole day of adding time was gone, went to the discussions then to the status page to see the incident report.
If I was aware of the issue, I could have done manual recording of time.
Other brands like Webflow, Squarespace and many others do this.

Xero Film Production Accounting Software
I would love Xero to create a piece of software for Film Production Accountants - Xero4Film!
I work doing some film production accounting/bookkeeping for feature film companies in the UK as well as doing standard accounting for small businesses. Currently the software used for film productions seems to be Eclipse or Smart Accounting. Neither of these are very user friendly and I wondered if there was a possibility of Xero bringing out a version of its accounting software that could be used by Film Production Accountants. Assurance dashboard | Contacts - Contacts with same bank account
I'm in the Assurance Dashboard in a client's datafile, doing a quick audit trail check for things that might need fixing or looking at, and I noticed that there were a couple of contacts being flagged as having the same bank account. So I looked at those contacts, and yes they do have the same bank account... Because one of them was merged into the other and then archived!
It's been dealt with, and should no longer be coming up as flagged for checking.

We’ve moved your suggestion to Gaining Support, meaning it’s now live for community voting. This allows us to monitor the idea's momentum and better understand its impact on our users.
To clear the flag manually, you can briefly restore the contact, update the bank account details by adding a number to it, and archive it again. While we understand this isn't an ideal solution, it will resolve the immediate display issue. If you have any other questions, our support team is always here to help.

Reconciliation - Automatically allocate Subscription Sales into Unearned Income and Earned Income based on timing
Allow front-loaded revenue (such as annual subscriptions or project fees) to be automatically allocated to Unearned Income (i.e. a liability) and then gradually transferred to earned Subscription Sales Revenue.
As a small business owner which sells hundreds of annual subscriptions to our service (different price packages and different start dates for each customer), it would be really handy to know how much of that received money has been 'earned' and how much remains 'Unearned Income'. Subscription & Billing - Send payment failure alerts to the Billing Contact
It's a huge problem for me that when billing fails for an entity, no notification is sent to the billing contact, only the subscriber (me) gets notified. If I'm on holiday, and something goes wrong with billing, people get locked out of the platform.
There should at least be an option for the billing contact to receive these messages, if not the default setting. I can't think of any reason I wouldn't want my billing contact to know that the payment to Xero has failed. My book-keeper doesn't know something has gone wrong until she is locked out of Xero.

4 votesHi Alan, thanks for sharing this idea. This would be useful for situations when a payment fails, allowing a nominated user to be notified as well so action can be taken quickly and avoid being locked out.
A simple workaround for now is setting up an email forwarding rule from noreply@post.xero.com
or subscription.notifications@post.xero.com
to your bookkeeper or Billing Contact. It’s not a permanent fix, but it can help make sure the right person sees the alert sooner.

Billing and Subscriptions - Simplify reactivation of subscriptions.
Make the reactivate process easier. Currently you need to change the selection to "All" under myxero. Hidden in the filter icon, could be more obvious with a visible drop down when you click subscription tab.

JAX - Allow JAX in Demo Company
We would like our staff to be able to experiment with JAX outside of our clients accounts - to do this, we would like JAX to be available in the Demo Company and it is not currently.

Xero Certification - Suggestion to reduce or remove the 24-hour lockout period
24 HOUR LOCK WHEN CERTIFICATION TEST "FAILS" NEEDS REMOVED IMMEDIATELY.
We have a trainee going through his Xero certification. He timed out the first test. He is now locked out for 24 hours.
We can't have him spending weeks doing this.

6 votesHi team, we appreciate the feedback however want to be upfront here that we don't have any plans on removing the 24 hours lock off period - This 24 hour cooling off period is designed to give a user time to visit the learning needed to close any skills gap.
Certifications is a test of a users ability to carry out tasks in Xero accurately.
We generally recommend completing the full learning course first as it covers everything a user needs to know to pass.
The direct assessment route is really for those that have been certified before. You use Xero daily and have all the skills, and are just needing to get certified.
