  1. Provide organisation owners / admins the ability to audit and positively verify that users have enabled MFA where required.

Recently we were able to see this in the organisation -> settings -> users list.

This is no longer available and Jax tells me that I need to contact every user individually, have them log in and show me themselves.

Hi Rebecca, thanks for sharing this suggestion. We understand the request for MFA status visibility or an audit report for users so administrators can quickly confirm which user accounts have Multi-Factor Authentication enabled.

I’ve updated the status to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking community interest. If this could help your security and compliance workflow, add your vote and share how you’d like the MFA information to be displayed.

  2. Streamlining record management across regional municipal networks helps improve client billing and document workflows. For firms managing cases at institutions like the Placer County Courthouse:https://countycourthouses.com/, standardized tracking tools make handling local administrative expenses and court filings significantly faster.

Thanks for submitting your idea on Xero Product Ideas. We appreciate you taking time to let us know how we could improve Xero for you.

Your feedback will soon be reviewed by our Community team, and in the meantime this can begin to build support with votes from other community members.

If you're interested to see recent releases or get a pulse on what's coming soon see The Long and Short of it. 🙂

  3. I can no longer comment on the original idea

what I would like is a button on a support case which allows me to create a product idea linked to the support case, so i don't need to copy and paste the entire case history into the product idea

Aah I see what you mean now, and appreciate you sharing more detail, Anna.

In terms of the original idea, you can reply directly to the email update you received about the status if there is extra detail you'd like to share with the team - In this case I've merged your original idea with this one to keep the information all together.

We don't have immediate plans for this, but will keep considering how we improve their efficiency when engaging and sharing feedback. We'll track the support here and share if there are any updates. Thanks

  4. For direct debits, you send a notification of the latest Xero subscription invoice on the day that its due, which doesn't always give enough lead time to have cash ready in the account. Could you provide at least two days' advance notice?

Hi Marcella, thanks for sharing your feedback here. Can understand how more advance notice would be useful.

This isn't something we have development of right now, but we'll track wider interest in this here and let you know if there's news.

  5. Could it be possible to create a video to explain about the particular features of the Xero function in their respective page? I am trying to better understand visually on how to navigate and use a particular feature within Xero.

If not at the very least, link me back to the lesson where I can get on the feature in the Xero Advisor course? It would be helpful for me to revisit the topic.

Hi Marc, thanks for your engagement and for this excellent suggestion on improving our Xero Central resources.

We've reviewed your idea about making our support content more visual by adding demonstration videos or linking back to specific lessons from our help articles. We agree that for many people, seeing a feature in action is incredibly helpful.

Your suggestion is now open to gain support from other community members. Along with votes, others can now comment to share how more visual content like videos could improve their learning experience and help them better understand Xero's features.

  6. It's a huge problem for me that when billing fails for an entity, no notification is sent to the billing contact, only the subscriber (me) gets notified. If I'm on holiday, and something goes wrong with billing, people get locked out of the platform.

There should at least be an option for the billing contact to receive these messages, if not the default setting. I can't think of any reason I wouldn't want my billing contact to know that the payment to Xero has failed. My book-keeper doesn't know something has gone wrong until she is locked out of Xero.

Hi Alan, thanks for sharing this idea. This would be useful for situations when a payment fails, allowing a nominated user to be notified as well so action can be taken quickly and avoid being locked out.

A simple workaround for now is setting up an email forwarding rule from noreply@post.xero.com

    or subscription.notifications@post.xero.com

to your bookkeeper or Billing Contact. It’s not a permanent fix, but it can help make sure the right person sees the alert sooner.

I’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can see how many in the community would value more flexibility in who receives these notifications. If this would help your team, please add your vote or share your experience—it really helps us understand the impact.

  7. From the standard template, is it not possible for Xero to create a "show tax amount column" option which I can select as opposed to only including the tax rate in each line item? This without creating an advanced docx template from scratch?

Hi Lungile, thanks for sharing this suggestion. We can see how including a VAT amount column on standard invoice templates could provide a clearer breakdown of tax for each line item and make invoices easier for customers to review.

I've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support. If you'd like to see this added, please keep voting and let us know how this would improve your invoicing process.

  8. Ability to be able to subscribe (via email) to Status updates and incidents for all or selected options within Xero, via the Status page.

A problem with Projects the other day, there was NO alert, no notification. I was entering data thinking it was being saved. Only by accident did I notice my whole day of adding time was gone, went to the discussions then to the status page to see the incident report.

If I was aware of the issue, I could have done manual recording of time.

Other brands like Webflow, Squarespace and many others do this.

Thanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you. We're sorry to hear about the issues that you experienced with Projects recently. While there is no ability to subscribe to the status update, we appreciate you sharing this here. We'll open this idea up to the community so they can add their votes and comments on it. Cheers

  9. A report which shows us the date we take on a subscription, as we sometimes can win multiple subscriptions in the same month but the team who action the billing to the clients don't see this - is there a way to have a central report from Xero which shows us the changes so we can ensure the billing is right.

Thanks for raising this with us here, Lucy. While there isn't a current report that'l accommodate your needs here this is something we can consider as a future enhancement to help with practice visibility of client subscriptions.

We're keeping an eye on the support for this so be sure to share with any colleagues that'd find this helpful. I'll be sure to update if there any report or visibility of this nature planned.

  10. Xero Partners generate and retain a significant portion of Xero's subscription revenue, yet currently receive the same support pathway as general end-users.

Recent changes to support have introduced an AI chatbot as the mandatory first step for lodging cases. While this may be helpful for users seeking guidance or support articles, it creates substantial inefficiencies for experienced bookkeeping and accounting professionals who have already completed their own investigation.

For certified Xero Partners, support requests are rarely "how do I do this?" questions. They are typically:

    • Product defects
    • Reporting discrepancies
    • Compliance concerns
    • Data integrity issues
    • Payroll…

  12. The Calendar and Plus options are not visible in the Timer when viewing a single client in XPM. They are only visible on the full client list screen. This slows me down when completing timesheets as I have to change screens first.

Thanks for highlighting this improvement. Keeping the Timer controls visible when viewing an individual client could reduce extra navigation when starting or adding time entries.

We've updated the status to Gaining Support. Add your vote and let us know how you'd like the Timer controls to work on the client screen.

  13. Chart of Accounts and Report codes should be combined together. Currently if I create a new account, i have to go to three places - COA, report codes and potentially financial statements to group something. Very inefficient.
Xero chart of accounts also doesn't have the header/subaccount options. I don't want to edit report templates every time i want to group something.

Thanks for sharing this idea. We can understand how being able to assign or update report templates while creating a new account could make setting up your Chart of Accounts more efficient and help reduce the chance of accounts being missed from customised reports.

For now, you'll need to update your report template or report codes after creating the account to ensure it's included in the appropriate reporting groups.

We've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking community interest. We'll keep sharing the feedback from this thread with the team as they consider future improvements to the Chart of Accounts and reporting setup experience.

  14. This is very basic, but a search didn't reveal an answer. Maybe it exists. Maybe it doesn't. It frustrates me when I try and look back on a reconciled bank item that it only shows the account description in view mode, not the code. I can only see the account number when I enter edit mode. Please make the account number visible in view mode. It would remove ambiguity when making a similar posting and prevent accidental corruption of previous postings. Pictures below Edit vs View mode.

Thanks for sharing this idea, Martin. We can understand how displaying the account code or general ledger account number when viewing a Spend or Receive Money transaction could make it quicker to review coding without needing to switch into edit mode.

We've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking community interest. If this would improve your workflow, add your vote and let us know where you'd find this information most useful, such as the transaction summary or another view.

Hi team, we appreciate the feedback however want to be upfront here that we don't have any plans on removing the 24 hours lock off period - This 24 hour cooling off period is designed to give a user time to visit the learning needed to close any skills gap.

Certifications is a test of a users ability to carry out tasks in Xero accurately.

We generally recommend completing the full learning course first as it covers everything a user needs to know to pass.

The direct assessment route is really for those that have been certified before. You use Xero daily and have all the skills, and are just needing to get certified.

  16. At the moment when you go to Organisation Settings > Subscription and billing (e.g. https://go.xero.com/Settings/ManageSubscription), it says "Change plan and update credit card details Managed by XXXX"

If we are XXXX - we don't see either of those things, only a button to take us somewhere else to Manage the plan.
If we are not XXXX - we don't see either of those things.

    How dumb?

Just show the Xero subscription/plan so we know what it is.

Hi Sam, appreciate you sharing this idea — we understand where you're coming from.

Being able to quickly see your Xero subscription plan from within your organisation’s settings would definitely make things easier. Having to jump to a different section just to check your plan or see what features are included isn’t ideal, especially when you’re trying to make quick decisions.

At the moment, this info isn’t shown in the Organisation Settings, but you can view your plan by going to My Xero from the main menu and clicking on the Subscriptions tab. That’s where you’ll find your current plan and any add-ons.

This idea is now in the Gaining Support stage. If this change would make things simpler for you, feel free to vote or leave a comment — your feedback helps us understand what matters most and where we can improve.

  17. Small businesses increasingly want to understand the environmental and social impact of their spending — but ESG tools are complex, expensive, and built for large enterprises.

Xero is uniquely placed to change that.

    Idea:
Embed lightweight, real-time ESG context directly into Xero, so small businesses can understand the impact behind everyday transactions — without extra systems or reporting burden.

    What this could look like:
    • ESG indicators at transaction or supplier level (e.g. climate, labour, governance risk)
    • Simple, plain-English insights alongside payments and invoices
    • Optional summaries over time (e.g. “This quarter’s spend impact”)
    • No scores to manage…

Hi Andrew , thanks for raising this idea here. We understand the business need to report on environmental and social impact for your business. For this reason, we're moving this idea to gain more support from the community. Now it's upto the community to get behind it and support it. Feel free to share this idea with your friends and colleagues who would also benefit from this feature being added on so they can share their thoughts and add on a vote as well! :)

  18. XERO Tax the Tax practitioners Board TPB and the ATO have placed strict requirements on tax agents to sight identification of new clients. Both the TPB and the ATO have advised that you are unable to have a face-to-face meeting and sight the actual documents, then it is highly recommended that the Tax Agent uses a security system or secure link to transfer documents. Xero should look at this service to assist with satisfying the security of certain documents.

Hi Michael, thanks for bringing this idea to the community. We understand why having an integrated way to securely collect identity verification documents and support client onboarding compliance could be valuable, especially for practices managing remote clients.

The idea is to provide a secure document collection or verification workflow within Xero Tax, helping practices manage client information requests and keep compliance processes more streamlined.

We encourage the community to vote on this idea if you’d find this practice workflow improvement useful.

  19. I would love Xero to create a piece of software for Film Production Accountants - Xero4Film!

I work doing some film production accounting/bookkeeping for feature film companies in the UK as well as doing standard accounting for small businesses. Currently the software used for film productions seems to be Eclipse or Smart Accounting. Neither of these are very user friendly and I wondered if there was a possibility of Xero bringing out a version of its accounting software that could be used by Film Production Accountants. There are a few other software options out there eg Creative Computing but they…

  20. The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) allows partners to fill out and submit a Partnership Tax Return (PTR) without being a registered tax agent or accountant. However, TPR is currently only available in Xero Tax, which is a professional tax preparation software package designed specifically (and only) for registered tax agents and accountants.

Can I request that (like BAS and TPAR) the PTR report and lodgement features be made available in the base Xero software?
