    ​I​ have a suggest​ion to enhance​ the P&L reporting functionality that I believe could significantly improve our efficiency and data accuracy.

    Currently, when we generate P&L reports, we manually export and cross-reference P&L items with project allocations. This is a time-co​nsuming workaround, particularly since project allocation data is already available in sales invoices and bills. This manual process is also necessary for our month-end close to reconcile values and projects.

    I've also observed a related issue: discrepancies in foreign currency transactions, where there are sometimes differences in GBP figures between the P&L and project files.

    I propose adding an option to our P&L reporting to include "Project" directly in the column header. This would allow us to view, line by line, which items are allocated to each project, streamlining our process and enhancing data accuracy.

    Hi community, we acknowledge the strong feelings in this idea and why you need a feature to flag bills directly within Xero. We really appreciate all your feedback and the detailed explanations of how this would help streamline your accounts payable.

    We are dedicated to providing a solution for this over the longer term, but this will take some time requiring changes that sit beneath the face of bills.

    In lieu of a direct feature for this we wanted to highlight some of the options discussed by the community here:

    • Add a note to the bill: A detailed note on the bill itself can serve as a clear internal reminder of the dispute.
    • Utilise tracking categories: Creating a specific tracking category like "Disputed Bills" can help you filter and report on these items.

    I'd like to provide feedback on the recent update and the proposed solutions regarding disputed bills, specifically in response to Kelly's suggestions. I believe the current options provided by Kelly act more as workarounds rather than providing a true fix for this issue.

    From my perspective, a more effective solution would be to introduce a new section in the bills screen, perhaps named "Disputes." This section could function similarly to how drafts currently work, but with clear distinctions. In my previous company, we utili​sed a "hold file" where we could raise ​the invoice and add purchase orders ​at a later date when the dispute was resolved by searching, which is already a function within Xero.

    If Xero were to implement a "Disputed Items" header in this section, it would not impact the accounts, as we would still be accruing the purchase order value, especially since it hasn't been billed yet. While this might not be a direct requirement for everyone, it would provide a dedicated place to store PDF invoices and any related emails.

    Currently, when we run the reconciliation report for this year, it displays an opening balance for both sales and purchases but not for the VAT account transactions. This means the report doesn't reflect the real-time status of the VAT account.

    For instance, previously filed VAT returns are incorrectly showing as unfiled, and any payments or collections from prior periods are not included. Consequently, we see a significant outstanding balance that doesn't accurately represent our current position, as these transactions were processed in the previous accounting period.

    Ideally, the reconciliation report should display the actual unfiled VAT on both sales and purchases, alongside the current balance of the nominal ledger, rather than just postings from the current period.

    To have the ability to Archive currencies, we deal with many customers all varying in currencies. We no longer deal with some of the currencies due to project activity which means when we enter the currency value for month end according to our group financial rules it means we have to enter the rates for all just in case there are some entries associated with them.

    This would be useful to be able to toggle the currencies on/off so that we don't need to keep updating them at the month end.

    Hi everyone, as another step toward improving history of new invoicing you'll find you'll now see an entry when an invoice is sent, and the email address it has been sent to. 

    We appreciate this is something we've heard a fair amount of feedback on and we hope helps in your journey to using new invoicing.

    Hi everyone, we appreciate your engagement with us about Just Ask Xero(JAX) and concerns shared on the data this model uses.

    To confirm the LLMs are not trained using any Xero data. The AI behind JAX uses LLMs available from commercial vendors like Microsoft, Google and Amazon, (we have commercial agreements that prevent them from training their models with our customers data), as well as proprietary technology, JAX Assure, that works in concert to support accuracy and security.

    JAX is currently in beta - Once your organisation is invited to opt-in to the beta, you can trigger the opt-in buy sending JAX a message in the pop-up window of your dashboard.

    Hi everyone, we want to share that we've released a change to history for each time an invoice is sent.

    Invoice history will now show the primary recipient email whenever an invoice is sent. This includes the initial and any subsequent send of an invoice.

    We appreciate this has been a pain point for everyone that's joined in the idea here and hope this visibility improves your experience in invoicing.

    We'd like to confirm how this works;

    • This record is only applicable from here on in, there are no updates to any historical entries for sending.
    • History will show the email of the initial recipient entered in the 'To' field any emails that you include as a CC or BCC option will not be shown.

    Hi everyone, we recognise the appetite in this idea and thank you for engaging with us on this through product ideas. We understand the efficiency being able to import Quotes to Xero could have for our customers, as well as the ease of use being able to export Quotes like you can invoices. However, with team resource focused elsewhere right now, we want to be honest that import and export of Quotes are not currently in the roadmap.

    Right now, for the export of Quotes you could run the Receivable Invoice Details report - We've created a common format available fro the left panel to access 'All quote details'. If you'd like to further filter this you could add a Status filter. Once you Update, you'll find you can export this detail to PDF, Excel or Google Sheets.

    With lots of work for 'building on beautiful' underway atm, we want to be honest that custom fields is not planned in the near term.
