We appreciate the interest gathered on this idea, everyone. At this time we don't have any immediate changes planned for lock dates, but as we continue to develop parts of Xero this is something we'll consider as a possible enhancement for lock dates. If there's any news I'll be sure to update you here.

Appreciate the feedback and including a screenshot of the notifications you're getting on the invoice, Andrew. Just to make sure I fully understand your idea here - Are you saying that rather than seeing the pop up you'd like to have these added as history events to the invoice?
An error occurred while saving the comment Russ Smith commentedWhy can't we send old invoices from a locked date period yet? This is so basic.

Hi everyone, we appreciate wanting to hear from us on this idea and apologies for not commenting sooner. I can assure you this has not gone unnoticed and internally there have been reviews and discussions for how batch payments can be improved. We have the appetite, but as with all developments this must be weighed up and considered against many other important changes needed in product.
We want to be upfront that developing the ability to include Credit notes in Batch payments has not been planned at this stage.
As some may have seen, we do have work going on around being able to include Credit Notes as part of the reconciliation process. We understand for many on this idea the timing of including credit notes when you’re creating the batch payments is crucial, however we hope that when delivered at least being able to reconcile these more efficiently…

An error occurred while saving the comment Russ Smith commentedWhy has this not been fixed yet? It causes me (and doubtless others) so much time every month to double-check that all of our journals have had the default box unticked to ensure the cash reporting is correct. It's absolutely backwards.
An error occurred while saving the comment Russ Smith commentedPlease put a toggle or something in for the minority of users who would actually want journals to show up in the cash reports. This is such an odd choice to have it set this way as a default. We post over a dozen journals a week and it's such an unnecessary time sink to have to check and correct every month.

Appreciate your feedback on how you'd like to see new invoicing improved to create more efficiency processing sales with Xero. There are a couple of different requests around defaults looped into this one idea that would be good to unpick and keep separate so we can keep you updated on any progress for each individually.
For interest around being able to set a default for the 'Approve and Send' button - There's an idea that's been started for this here that I'd recommend joining.
Kathy, your recent comment sounds more like the ability to be able to send invoices to a contact group with new invoicing - we totally get the interest in this too and have an idea for this here that you can follow.
Taking on board feedback we have made a change with the new send experience so now, selections for 'Include PDF of invoice' and 'Send…Russ Smith supported this idea · -

Hi everyone, some time on since my last update I wanted to give you more of an idea of the work we have going on to help reduce the number of steps and actions in new invoicing. Along with the changes mentioned in my last update, we've since released a change to the view of an invoice to shift details back into their own columns (similar to classic), while a small change we know it's improved visibility for some of our customers.
We also have other work in development atm that’ll further help here like a new line item grid when editing your invoice - wrapped up in this we’ll be introducing changes you’ve been asking for like the ability to create a new tracking option or account code without having to navigate away from the invoice, we’re increasing the number of items that you can view from the drop…

Thanks for your feedback here, everyone. We appreciate our customers use Xero in different ways.
In new invoicing when you copy an existing invoice to a new draft invoice while you can copy to the existing contact the reason that defaults aren't automatically applied in the new invoice is because the line item fields of the new invoice are taken from the invoice you are copying from.
We'll continue to track the interest in this here, but want to be open that we don't have any immediate plans for changign this behaviour.
Russ Smith supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Russ Smith commentedHi Kelly,
I don't think the explanation you have been given is correct.
This is how new invoicing currently works when copying the invoice:
1) Customer X has an existing invoice, the line items of that invoice are set to Zero Rated Income
2) The Sales Defaults Sales VAT setting for Customer X is also set to Zero Rated Income
3) I copy this existing invoice, and it's for the same customer i.e. the To is left as Customer X
4) The Tax Rate for the copied lines remains as Zero Rated Income, which is what we'd expect to see
5) But, when you go to add a new line, e.g. for extra item sold this month, the Tax Rate on the new line now defaults to 20% (VAT on Income). My guess is it's either pulling this Tax Rate from the default rate assigned to the nominal ledger code, or it's going by whether our company is VAT registered or not.Needless to say, this did not happen under old invoicing, it is a pain to have to keep changing it, and what's more key is that it's likely to result in a lot of incorrect invoices with mixed VAT rates that get sent out to customers (especially in conjunction with that terrible approve and email button).
I don't understand why this would not be changed, as it's clearly a step backward from the old invoicing. But I guess if not, we'll just add this to the list of things that Xero is refusing to fix under the 'improved' new invoicing that system that has been forced upon the hapless users.
An error occurred while saving the comment Russ Smith commentedThis is so annoying. Please get this fixed. I have no idea why you would release something in this state and then force it upon us.

Hi everyone, thank you for your feedback on this here. Through testing we found that majority of our customers would Approve and email an invoice at once, which is why this was developed as the default in new invoicing. That said we appreciate others would like a different action as their primary option.
While we don't have direct plans for adding the ability to set a default for this action, we're listening to your feedback and looking into how we can improve efficiency and speed things up for you when using new invoicing through the use of keyboard shortcuts. We'll share more news when we've confirmed what this shortcut looks like and are closer to providing this to you all.

Thanks for your continued input and contribution to this idea. We've now released an improved send experience for new invoicing, where you have a side by side view to give you full visibility of what's being sent. Encompassed in this is also the ability to CC and BCC others in the email😊.
For the time being this is limited to sending from the invoice itself and won't apply to Invoice Reminder emails. However, we are thinking ahead and will look to expand this capability in time. We'll keep you updated of any further progress of this here.

Hi everyone, thank you for all the interest and we appreciate the needs for those using foreign currency to have more efficiency in how you process these bills for payment. Your feedback and votes here have not gone unnoticed - We have a team that have been doing some ground work in this space and at this time we have beta that we'd like to invite any UK customers to join and feedback to our team on the experience. If you'd like to be a part of this please fill in our form here and we'll be in touch.
We appreciate this idea is farther reaching than UK alone and while the beta is limited to this region for the time being, based on results we will look at expanding this to other places.
We'll keep you updated of further developments here.

No idea why we can't simply see when an invoice was sent and to who. Doesn't even show anything if the invoice has already been paid, which is not only bizarre (with support claiming it's working as intended), but also a failure in the audit trail and impossible to prove compliance with VAT regulations. Just another great example of the failure that is new invoicing
