Ability to merge inventory items.
Purpose: Users can easily merge the inventory items when they accidentally created the new same items in Xero.

Have the option to create nominal codes and assign them to CIS returns to allow for more granular review of costs. E.g. Bricklayer expense, Plumber expense etc.

Quotes - View Inventory Item Cost
See Inventory Item Cost when doing a Quote. I would find it helpful, when doing a quote to a customer, to see the cost of the inventory item I am quoting on. Of course, it should not appear in the final quote going to the client, but seeing it, would give me more confidence in doing my quote and make it a lot quicker. Thanks
14 votesHi Mark, as cost price of items can change over time, if you often associate specific items you're selling to sales you make to your customers perhaps Billable expenses?
When you add the expenses to your customers invoice this will bring across the cost price of the items you've assigned.

AU Payroll - Create payroll reporting pack

Our AU Payroll team are testing some changes to Payroll reconciliation. The idea to create an AU payroll reporting pack is highly associated with payroll reconciliation and we feel that voters here would also have an interest in payroll reconciliation. They would love to hear from you!
They’re aiming to conduct some 1 on 1 interviews between 6 Feb - 16 Feb 2024, the interviews will last 45 minutes.

Bills - Refresh option on bills to pay page and a recent invoice list
When emailing bills to Xero as I am working from my email account and Xero at the same time, the page has to be refreshed by clicking into one of the other tab options all the time and back again. It would be great if there was a button that just said refresh so I am not wasting time jumping from drafts screen to one of the other tabs such as all and then back to the drafts.
Additionally we process all of our invoices into draft format firstly. When doing this sometimes they are out of order. It would…

Bills - Share bills for approval with users outside Xero
We need an approval process which includes multiple approvers who do not necessarily access Xero so a share as with an invoice would be ideal to request approval via email
10 votesHi community, thanks for sharing with us on this idea. It would be good to get further insight into why the user would not be invited into the Xero organisation if they are a part of the approval process.
While we don't have plans for developing a share link on bills like invoices at this stage, an option for some right now could be to export bills from your organisation which could be provided to the right person in a CSV format.

It would be really useful for those of us in the UK if we could run a report to calculate holiday pay based on a 52 week average. Legally this has been a requirement since 2020.

Xero Files - Scroll bar in Files app
When a folder is created in Files app, it appears on the left menu and the documents uploaded in the folder appears on the right side of the screen. When there is a long list of folders created, like I am doing with the client, the list goes below the screen and scrolling down option is only the main scroll of Xero that moves the list of folders and the document display screen together. Xero Expenses - Show original currency + currency amount
Have the original currency + amount available as field options in the Reports section, so I can run an expense details report and see both the original currency and the GBP.
The use case here is that we have US people using Xero Expenses who need paying in USD. I have to go into each expense item to manually write down the USD value and the add it up to pay. It's properly daft when I know the currency amount is there. And we can't enter it as a bill because they are using Xero expenses.

Sales Invoice | List view - Filter by Contact Group
Ability to filter draft invoices by Contact Groups.
We have a large number of customers who are moving toward shared accounting services (ie: centralised payment of our invoices). Reporting - Restrict user access to the Edit Layout button in financial statements
We have spent a significant amount of time creating our financial statement templates using the report codes to ensure consistency and quality. Using Edit Layout can cause significant issues, including notes not matching the numbers in the balance sheet. As a result, we require the ability to remove access to the Edit Layout function for selected users.

Bank Reconciliation Report - Show 'Discuss' tab notes
Include notes that have been left on transactions in the 'Discuss' tab on the Bank Reconciliation Summary Report.

Reporting - Set default date columns from oldest to most recent
A button you can click to reverse the order of the columns in Reporting
Typically the reports show the month in question closest to the account descriptions and then the prior months in columns to the right but we'd like to look at our current year starting with the earliest month in the column next to the account descriptions and the remainder of the year in columns to the right. Projects - Invoice multiple expenses on the same line
I want to be able to group/merge multiple expenses being on-billed into one line on an invoice, even if they're not a tracked expense.
For example, if a contracting company has billed for a fortnight of the contractor's work, but has separated that into two lines, each dealing with one week, on their bill, then the draft that is created when they e-invoice me will have two lines. When I assign these lines to a project and approve the bill, each line shows up as a separate expense to be on-billed. If I am on-billing the full fortnight, I would…

Account Transactions report - Filter Description by multiple terms
I need to search Invoice descriptions to find Invoices that have certain quote references.
I've found a workaround for this using an Account Transaction report and filtering on description. However I can't find a way to use an OR operator.
For example I can create a report that finds all quote references with "A0", and I can modify that to display a report that finds all quotes with a reference that contains "L0".
However, I can't find a way to create a single report that contains all quote references with "A0" OR "L0" (or "A0" OR "A1" OR "A2")
9 votesThanks for the detail in your idea here, Paul. I had a bit of a test of this myself and have checked in with our reporting team.
It doesn't quite appear in the modal once the report's run - this is something that we'll look to improve.
However, it's possible to enter multiple terms which will each be searched and return results for (like OR as an operator) - All you need to do is enter a comma(,) and space between each condition.
For example A0, L0 or A0, A1, A2, 🙂

Statements - Increase size of email template box when sending statements
Could you increase the size of the email statements UI - ie the dialogue box that opens when you email statements or activity and you can revise the template.
The font is tiny and the window is also tiny.
Or allow a zoom, or to enlarge the dialogue box.

Bills | Awaiting Payment - Highlight the Planned date
Bills - Highlight the “Planned date” (in red or bold) as you select the date.
This would assist greatly when batching weekly and monthly payment batches and working alphabetically.
The Bills screen is very busy.
