  1. Export in CSV UTF-8 or excel file as opposed to CSV comma delimited. Or have the option to choose what format the file is downloaded in as opposed to it having to be csv comma delimited.

    Reasoning: We utilise characters in our Xero that currently doesnt export out correctly e.g. "青龍 香米". This problem would be eliminated if we could export the file format as either excel or CSV UTF-8. Xero as a system supports the upload of these characters and displays them absolutely fine on the webpage, which is why we have decided to move to your system, but…

  2. Restrict the ability to create a new contact,
    or at least do a verification of a new contact by e.g. pop up window "are you sure you want to create a new contact?"

    And taking it one step further - running a validation check in the current contact list and make suggestions of other current contacts that is closely alligned.
    e.g. after entering " H and M stores" a pop up can ask, did you not mean "H&M Stores" that is currently a contact?

  3. Would really appreciate the ability to export expense claims for an individual employee for a defined period which shows which are billable to a client and those that are not.

    Currently the Expense Claim Detail report only shows aged (unpaid) expenses and the Account Transactions Report shows all expenses whether paid, unpaid or submitted, but doesn't differentiate those that are general expenses from those that can be billed to Clients (Customers).

    Hard to believe we are the first small business to request this functionality.

  4. When printing an invoice I would like to go to the customer's account and bring forward the balance that is on their account.
    And have this balance on a line above the net amount for this invoice, which would then add the gross amount to the brought forward value and have aline below the gross amount of the invoice, showing the total amount that they owe to date including this invoice.

  5. Our company's invoicing procedure comprises three steps:
    (1) invoice generation by our own custom software and also pushed to Xero through the Xero API,
    (2) direct debit payments manually added and processed via GoCardless (on their own website, not Xero's integration) for selected invoices, and
    (3) invoice reconciliation in Xero. This process is jeopardized when any alterations are made to the invoices in any of the systems (our database, Xero, or GoCardless), causing inconsistencies and the need for corrective credit notes.

  6. It would be great if we could do a bulk recode of due dates for invoices. EG, all May invoices for a particular supplier can be recoded so the due date shows 30 June.

  7. Add a date option on the Taxes and Filings tab to add the PAYE payment date. This would easily show if the payment has already been set in advance without having to log into internet banking to double check.

  8. I would like to be able to select only certain employees and add LSL balances on their payslips rather than everyone in the organisation.
    My point is, when we set a new employee we started calculating their LSL from day one but we do not necessarily want them to see the balances until they reach 5 or 10 year mark working for the company.
    In this case, calculation of LSL is accurate as in 10 years times hours of employees can change btw full time/part time and so on.
    I would appreciate an option to select individual employees to display…

  9. Be able to set an automatic default tax rate when new sales or expense accounts are created. In our country, the sales tax rate changed, and by default when I create a new account, it gives the old tax rate. Unless I change the Default tax rate for this specific new account to the current tax rate, I will be given the old tax rate by default. This has given us accounting problems that are sometimes hard to trace when one doesn't change the tax rate manually each time a new account is created.

    Hi Charlotte, can you expand a little on your needs or use cases for your idea here? 

    A wage would generally be connected to an employee in payroll. Managing a loan is a little different and we have suggestion of how to do this in our help here, and when it comes to drawings and introducing cash to the business this would generally relate to a specific shareholder and would be recorded as Spend or receive monies, if you'd rather not specify the contact you may want to set up a generic contact that you could code these sort of transactions too. 

  11. Customer lifetime value report.

    I would like to see date fields that you complete when you onboard and archive a new customer. Then it would be easy to work out the average lifetime value of your customers (CLV) using the “income and expenses by contact” or other report.

Quickbooks has "motion tracking" mileage, meaning the user doesn't have spent time entering their starting and final postcodes, they literally just turn the feature on and it auto records their mileage via GPS. I have clients (using Xero) who are on the road everyday for business purposes and this feature would be so useful for them to save time.

    Hi everyone, thank you for feeding back and sharing with us through the idea here. We appreciate why you'd like to see automated mileage tracking developed within Xero expenses.

    While our team have a keen eye on the idea and interest in exploring this in the future we want to be open that resources are across other important work atm and there are no plans to develop this, this year.

    We'll continue to track the interest and keep you updated of any change for this through the idea, here.

  14. Add a feature where you can capture bulk supplier invoices.
    You can select your supplier from a dropdown, type the invoice number, type the description, select to add a file, select account detail (sales account) and type in your amount.
    This will save much more time vs opening the supplier account, add new bill, etc, etc, or copying a recent bill and just typing over it ... it's tedious and time consuming the way it is set up now.

Changing MFA devices for Xero Verify brings over your accounts but on the Xero Identity Account page, when you attempt to change the device it makes you re-set up the account / code in Xero Verify. Would love to just have a 'change linked device' with a drop down of devices that have Verify attached to the account.

  16. When I am emailed a bill from a vendor who also uses Xero, I click the link and open that bill in a browser. Usually, I am already logged in to Xero in another tab in the same browser. Usually, there will be multiple bills to open this way.

    For every single bill, I have to click to log in to Xero to save it as a draft in one of the organisations I have access to. It's a small thing, but I'd like to not have to do that if I'm already logged in to Xero in another tab,…

  17. With the current financial climate, employees are suspending their KiwiSaver contributions. The Inland Revenue (IR) allows the Employer to continue with the company's contribution voluntarily.

    At this stage, it is not 'officially' possible for the employer to contribute to KiwiSaver if the employee is on a Savings Suspension in Xero.

    The employee is on a Savings suspension, then the company cannot contribute either. Also, when on a savings suspension Xero requires an expiry date, IR does not always provide a date; instead, advising us when to recommence the KiwiSaver.

  18. Ability in payroll to reinstate terminated employees past the 30 days Xero currently allows. Many businesses have seasonal workers or students who just work holidays, being able to reinstate the employee with all their information would be much easier than having to add them as a new employee every time they are re-employed. Most other payroll systems allow reinstatement of terminated employees.

  19. Invoice - Ability to move "Pay Now" button to custom part of email body.

    Currently as first part of email, "PAY NOW £***" is displayed in the message preview in quite a confronting manner. Ability to move it to any part of the email body would make our organisation seem friendlier.

Hi Community, we need to have the option to copy part of the invoice when we are doing it, and then, copy that on the same invoice we are working, many times we need to invoice the same things to the same client but separate it by levels or offices into the same invoice, we can save a lot of time with this function when we are writing a big invoice.
