  1. Description Field with the bank narration

    This happened as a couple of newer client and new to xero in the contact field wrote something incredibly different to the bank narration which makes it very difficult to review the general ledger information.

    For example in the General Account the transactions descriptions are all listed as "John Smith" when if the bank narration option was available I could see it is Officeworks, KFC, etc and this would make it easier to realise these are miscoded and reallocate.

  2. The Xero bulk invoice import template makes provision to allow for the population of data into the available tracking categories that would correspond to same inside Xero. However, is it possible to do same with a project? Xero have since confirmed it is not possible to include project allocations when importing invoices.

    We have a high frequent need to import bulk lines of data each representing individual invoices, and we wish to use Xero projects, but need to be able to allocate the bulk upload of these invoices to the applicable projects inside Xero.

  3. Update inventory when it is posted as an expense to a project as this makes more sense as clients use the project reports to calculate WIP and it is annoying to have to constantly check which inventory figures have been applied and deduct this from the inventory. It also means when projects are billed this actually reduced the stock figure as this only happens when you invoice the project for the tasks and expenses whereas currently invoicing using the project amount does not update the inventory.

  4. Xero should not allow employees to submit Expenses for locked periods. It must have a Posting Date & Document Date to facilitate this. The document date should always be what's on the invoice/receipt

  6. Would it be possible to create a bill from within the files tab, into a new tab. When you click create bill from within the file tab, it allows you to create the bill but once you click save, it just shows you the created bill. You then have to go back to the files tab and re-find the next file you want to create as a bill. Would be much easier if you could right click and create the bill within a new tab, so that the file tab stays open at all times.

  7. Xero Reporting - Please add functionality to Right Align text in custom tables in notes.

    Also, Lots of white space on Depreciaiton schedules making text very small. Add functionality to drag column lines much like excel.

  9. The ability to be able to multiple select earnings types when setting up the employee template.

    Also with the ability to select Calculation Type - either Use Earnings Rate or Enter Rate.

    If selecting 'Enter Rate' this can be input after the earnings lines are available - like usual.

  10. At the moment you only get a small amount of the bank reference line to see for transactions so I find myself constantly having to click on the details link to reconcile. Can we have the option to display the whole (or at least more) of the reference line?

  11. Actual vs Accrued Leave on Payslips
    A report to support this leave
    Employees are submitting leave as per there payslips and have no knowledge that this is not actual leave. They may not have been with our company 12 months or it's accured leave which only becomes actual on their anniversary. We are finding some of our employees with negative leave balances, which causes both confusion and problems on them leaving.

    Hi Dan, you can already run the new Profit & Loss in a foreign currency your org is using, as well as run on a cash basis. If you often find yourself wanting to run reports on a cash basis - we recently released Reporting preferences where you could set this as a default. 🙂

    We'll keep tracking the interest around viewing the Statement of cashflow in a foreign currency and let you know if there's any plans made for this, here. 

  13. Can we have an audit trail, even if similar to invoices/bills, where we can see the who, date & time of the payslips being sent out for a pay calendar?
    This helps to know the payslips have been sent out and that there is an audit trail for this.

  14. For clients who use the iPad app for quotes, it is important that the quote be able to be printed. This would be for Xero clients whose customers visit a place of business ("the shop") to discuss an order; the Xero client should be able to print the quote for delivery to the client.
    For one of my potential clients, this procedure applies to 95% of the quote opportunities.

    As of this writing, it is not possible to Share the quote (only email) and if converted to a draft invoice, tapping the Share option automatically converts it to Approved without…

  17. Cash coding currently has a keyboard shortcut to copy the nominal above, which is great..... Please can we have a keyboard shortcut made for the "Payee" that works in the same way as I often alphabetically sort these so it would be a huge time saver.

  18. An employee is in charge of paying our foreign supplier accounts. So we gave him the role "Invoice only (Approve and Pay). Unfortunately, he is not able to see a full statement of the supplier account with all invoices, credit notes and payments made so he does not know how much is owed. He is also unable to enter payments against a supplier without an invoice already existing in Xero, which is an issue when making payments to suppliers who require payment in advance. Quickbooks has "motion tracking" mileage, meaning the user doesn't have spent time entering their starting and final postcodes, they literally just turn the feature on and it auto records their mileage via GPS. I have clients (using Xero) who are on the road everyday for business purposes and this feature would be so useful for them to save time.

    Hi everyone, thank you for feeding back and sharing with us through the idea here. We appreciate why you'd like to see automated mileage tracking developed within Xero expenses.

    While our team have a keen eye on the idea and interest in exploring this in the future we want to be open that resources are across other important work atm and there are no plans to develop this, this year.

    We'll continue to track the interest and keep you updated of any change for this through the idea, here.

  20. Under current simplified depreciation rules, small businesses deduct the balance of the small business pool at the end of the income year if the balance at that time (before applying the depreciation deductions) is less than the instant asset write-off threshold.

    Currently Xero's pool does not apply this rule & continues depreciating at 30%. It would be great to have a product update so the correct application of current tax rules applys to the pooling system in Xero.

    Appreciate the traction this idea's gained - Thanks for your support, everyone.

    Our Fixed Asset product team are working on upgrades to Fixed Assets platform and updating technology - Read more on this broader work on Xero Central

    We understand how having an automated control to recognise and apply a write-off for general pooled assets where the balance is beneath the threshold would be useful, this is not in our roadmap right now.

    That said, they have a close eye on ideas for Fixed Assets for when the time's right - we'll share any change on the idea, here.
