  1. Xero calculates VAT on a line by line basis and rounds up at every instance. This leads to the VAT amount sometimes being more than a few pennies over the top of what it should be.

    I propose that Xero calculates VAT to 3 decimal places, which will mostly eliminate this over payment to the VAT man and overcharging our customers. Or it only calculates VAT at the end of the invoice.

  2. There is currently an option for a DEA to be table based when setting it up, however this doesn't do any of the calculations for the DEA. Instead, they need to be calculated manually & entered as a fixed amount. There is also no way of keeping track of the amounts deducted until the total has been paid within Xero, this also has to be done manually. This can especially be difficult if the employee's pay varies each period.

  3. Xero subscription invoices added to Files
    When you email our Xero subscription invoice, please email it to our Files. (Or at least give that to us as an option.) We shouldn't have to forward our Xero invoice to our bookkeeper. The file should already be waiting for the bookkeeper within the software.

  4. Background: We are a chapter-based organization with almost 50 chapters. Each chapter is a 501(c)3 organization and uses Xero as its accounting software, meaning each one is treated as an individual organization in Xero.

    Every week, as the PM, I need to report on the health of each individual chapter. Currently, this process involves me manually switching into each organization's dashboard, checking if their bank is synced, identifying any unreconciled transactions, and recording the date of the oldest unreconciled transaction. This currently costs me ~1.5 hours per week.

  5. When paying bills through Xero there should be some warning box to state this will not take money from your bank account. This will be recorded in Xero however you will need to make payments from your bank account.

  6. Ability to show Xero Project assignment on the Invoice overview export report an the Bills export report so you can see what sales and costs have been allocated to which project or not at all.

  7. It would be great if the employee group was included in the payroll reports. The company I am working for requires the employee ID (or employee group) to be displayed in the reports along side the name of the employee. Or if Xero could create a new field that has the employee ID number so that it is displayed in all payroll reports.

  9. Add functions to Activity Statement report. It would be great to be able to collapse the GST categories in the Transactions by Tax Rate section of the report, much like grouping in MS Excel. Also being able to Sort the transactions, eg. by account and/or contact. This would be very useful for clients with a large number of transactions per GST category.

  10. The PO number space under Purchase Order View is limited, we cannot view our full PO number, refer to picture

    Please extend the column, else Xero should restrict the maximum allowance length for PO number format.

  12. We have noticed that for our clients with large transaction volumes (90k+), Xero struggles to generate the GL detail report. Xero often takes 5 minutes+ to generate the report, or in some cases is not able to generate the report for the full fiscal year (either showing a blank screen or popping up an error - "there is no data to display"). Sometimes we have to pull the report piecemeal by account type and then aggregate, in order to present the full GL detail.

    It would be great if Xero could focus on report performance, ensuring that the GL detail…

If Reimbursements are meant to be used for certain allowances then we need to be able to set up units and unit rates in the same way as we do for allowances, otherwise the calculation becomes a manual one and leaves room for human error. It also means reporting is not clear on how the amount was calculated as even though you can enter a description on the payslip i dont beleive there is a report that summarises this.
    ie for overtime meal allowances you should be able to show how many you have paid and at what rate so…

  17. There is currently only one default setting for NI contributions to be made to. It is though necessary to separate out employee and director costs. Even direct employees and overhead categorised employees. Other pay items allow postings to different ledger accounts but not NI deductions. Would just save a lot of manual journal posting to correct payroll run postings.

  18. On balance sheets or profit and loss reports. It would be amazing if there was a distinction between accounts that have nothing in them (e.g. -) and accounts that have a nil balance (e.g. 0). They currently have the same icon (-). Having different icons would make it easier to distinguish without having to click into the account.

  19. Thank you for delivering to keep the existing contact when copying an invoice. Now when you email the invoice the email address is not populated from the contact file. You have to go and look it up to send the copied invoice.

    Please refer to the contact details and pre-populate their contact email addresses.

    Sorry Lynne, It's a bit hard to troubleshoot and get the detail to understand why your contacts details like email aren't coming through to your copied invoice. I've just tested this with Draft and approved invoices being copied and the email of the contact was bought through each time as expected. I'd recommend raising this with our specialist through the Contact Xero Support option in Xero Central for closer inspection.


    Thanks for also checking on this, Olga - that message on defaults application is related to the Sales defaults saved against inventory items or the contacts record but doesn't apply to the contacts personal details. These should be applied when copying an invoice.

    To explain a little more - The reason defaults aren't automatically applied is because the line item fields will be prefilled with the information from the existing invoice that the new one is copied from.
