  1. It would be really useful to have a way of typing the date without having to use a / in between the numbers, like you could on classic invoicing

    e.g. 20012024 used to convert automatically to 20th January 2024 on classic invoicing

    Thanks for your interest in this idea, everyone. We understand there are different ways our customers find useful when entering dates for invoices in Xero.

    Based on feedback our team are looking at improvements to the date pickers in new invoicing. While I can't confirm exactly what these will entail atm, we'll shift the idea to working on it and I'll be back to confirm when we have more of the detail.

  2. You can only allocate payment on accounts to a customer ledger on Xero by clicking 'Overpayment' which is very long winded. Please can this be simplified to select the customer and then allocate straight as a 'payment on account' and then this can be allocated to the invoice once this is uploaded.

    In addition, if there is money out that gets contra'd against money received from a client, there is no way of coding this to the customer ledger.

    Hi everyone, appreciate your continued feedback on new invoicing. As mentioned in my last update we've now added a new Xero Central page for new invoicing.

    Along with updates to individual ideas on Xero Product Ideas, this page will become the single source of truth for key feature rollouts including:

    • what’s available in new invoicing right now,
    • timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
    • a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.

    We'll be updating this page regularly.


    Relating to some of the more recent feedback there are some existing ideas that may also be of particular interest that you can join, like the ability to see the email the invoice was sent to in the history, or being able to see a timestamp, and reducing clicks and steps.

  4. It will be very useful for reporting if we are able to change the layout of Timesheet Details from a week ending to fortnightly while also able to choose the start date and end date without the dates with zero hours.

    Hi team, while not a 'default' option for this within Xero, you could achieve this using a Custom DOCX branding theme, with an advanced invoice template.

    With the template open in Microsoft Word, you can add the ContactPhysicalAddress merge field where you want their Delivery Address to appear.

    You can add your logo and make any other changes you'd like, before saving the file and uploading it back into your branding theme in Xero.

    You'll then want to select this custom branding theme for your invoices.

  6. Please change the table view on the Business --> Purchase Orders (Purchase Order Overview) to be the same as the Invoice Overview, which expands to fill the width of the page, as the current Purchases Overview is truncated and you cannot see pertinent purchase order details; like the PO name as an example.

  7. What I like that you added:
    * Saving as draft!
    * New Due Date drop-down selections (e.g. 14 days)

    What I do not like:
    * No "add another invoice" option after save + print PDF, more clicks now
    * When save + print PDF, now opens a new tab that needs closed, more clicks
    * Cannot "copy" the invoice line "item" - I usually create many lines that I used to be able to copy & paste the "item", now more clicks
    * Too much whitespace and font too large, I want to be able to see the data w/o…

    Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on new invoicing. We’re listening carefully to all feedback to make sure new invoicing has the functionality you need, as we prepare for retirement of the classic version.
    We recognise that some things will be different, so we encourage you to spend some time familiarising yourself with the new version. We also believe all small businesses and advisors around the world can benefit from Xero, which is why we’re deeply committed to accessibility. We’re confident that in time, new invoicing will become easy to use and that you’ll enjoy the benefits of us being able to provide much more value on that platform quicker.

  8. When returning to Sales/Purchases Overview page ALL Invoices/Bills Xero automatically scrolls down a page moving past the first few lines.

  9. When using the new style of invoicing, it is no longer possible to enter a customer payment which having to click on the receive payment option. Using classic invoicing, the fields to enter the payment are present on the invoice screen. The classic invoicing method is much more efficient when entering a large number of customer invoices, so it would be great if these fields could be added to the invoice screen on the new style.

    Hey everyone👋 Thanks so much for sharing all your feedback and keeping the conversation going here. We've been following along and considering changes around the process for adding payments in new invoicing.

    As we mentioned in our last update, while we won’t be bringing classic invoicing back, we're taking a close look at what made it work so well for you. The ability to quickly enter payment information without leaving the invoice is a key part of that.

    To address this, our product team is now working to reintroduce this functionality to the invoice page.

    We can’t share a timeline just yet, but we want you to know that your comments have been a vital part of this process. We’ll be sure to post an update here as soon as we have more to share.🙂

  10. I would love to see a newer updated "look" similar to what Freshbooks or Quickbooks Online has. They have a very streamlined look. I like how they have the tabs on the side that say "invoice" and "expenses" without having to go through the dropdown menus.

    Hi team, while not a solve for an updated 'look' of the dashboard we wanted to make sure everyone on this idea was aware of some of the shortcuts that can help you get around and create transactions from many screens. 

    The '+' icon next to Search in the blue banner enables you to create a range of different document types, similarly there are shortcuts that can be entered in Search from the blue navigation bar that will take you to different features such as bank accounts, the files library or reports. See more on these in our help article here

  11. It would be helpful to be able to add shortcut icons on the dashboard for all of the things you use every day instead of having to go through the dropdown menus. (similar to the way the old quickbooks used).

    For example, have a way to put an "invoice" icon on the dashboard. Or add "spend money" on the dashboard. Basically have a way to add whatever shortcut icons you want as every business is different.

    Hi community - There are a few shortcuts that can help you get around and create transactions from many screens in Xero.

    The '+' icon next to Search in the blue banner enables you to create a range of different document types, similarly there are shortcuts that can be entered in Search from the blue navigation bar that will take you to different features for example entering 'r' you can quickly select and be taken to 'All reports'

    Are there other specific shortcuts you'd want to see here? 

  12. Greetings, is it possible to add a "Make a Deposit" option to the + Menu in the task bar? We've studied the batch deposit procedure, and it seems cumbersome. It would be helpful to have a simple process to click Make a Deposit from the main options, have the Undeposited Funds account appear, select items from the Undeposited Funds account, choose which account to transfer funds to, and save the deposit with the option to print a deposit slip and summary. If you already have this process in place, I would like to learn it, please. Thank you.

  13. It would be great if the Contact Name placeholders could populate the name of the individual person receiving the email rather than just the primary person for a contact.

    ex. I have a contact name for a child with the primary person being Parent 1 and additional person being Parent 2. Would love if the Contact Name placeholders could address the email to each Parent 1 and Parent 2 independently instead of just addressing Parent 1 in both emails.

In the "classic invoicing" interface an alert is displayed at the bottom of approved invoices when the contact being invoiced has existing credit that can potentially be applied to the new invoice. This is a very important feature and strangely it's missing from the new invoicing interface. With the "classic invoicing" now being officially retired this basic feature must definitely carry over to the new invoicing interface.

    Without this alert, every time we create an invoice we would need to manually check if the contact has previous credit with us, which makes the process unnecessarily inefficient and unpleasant.

    Hi community, we appreciate all the feedback you've shared on how we can improve new invoicing for your needs.

    In relation to the alert of available credit as raised in this idea, we've identified there are a few situations for Invoice only users where the available credit pop up isn't being shown. This is something we have plans to fix, and while I can't give a specific date on the idea here, we want you to know this is important to us and I'll keep you updated on progress here.

  15. Currently after adding a payment, the page goes to the Sales Overview - Invoices. It would be good if (possibly just as an option) it returned to the actual invoice I was adding a payment to.

    It’s interesting to hear the different ways our users invoice and we appreciate you sharing how we could improve the flow of entry for you here. Being open this isn’t something we have plans for right now, however as our team plan further developments within invoicing, we’d like to engage you all here. To help our product teams get a better understanding of our invoicing users for future improvements, we’ve put a survey together and would love to hear your feedback through this.

  17. Allow charities to add an option for customers to make a voluntary donation when paying their invoice.

    When making a payment through the pay now link, they would be able to add an additional amount as a donation, if they choose to.

It would be great to see an option of being able to highlight in red or yellow a particular line on your sales invoice for the client to specifically take note of, because at the moment when I add a note for clients to see I write it in capitals but it still gets ignored. Whereas if it was highlighted they may take more notice of it.

  19. Last week, against my wishes (and against Xero Support's own knowledge), Xero System Generated a second Stripe bank account in Xero.

    I already had a Stripe bank account in Xero that was working fine, it had a bank feed for payments processed via Stripe from other software, and it would have the bank feed and create the payment and fee Xero transactions for payments processed via Stripe on Xero invoices.

    I don't want two separate Stripe bank accounts in Xero for my one Stripe AUD account.

    Why does Xero do unhelpful things like this?

  20. New Invoicing should be the same as the classic in that it remembers default settings for emailing like sending yourself a copy and attaching files. Until this is resolved do not discontinue the classic invoicing setup.
    It's going to be very frustrating otherwise :)

    Thanks for your continued engagement with us through this idea, team. As mentioned in my last update this idea spans different areas that you see defaults automating and improving efficiencies in how you invoice with Xero. 

    Since my last update, we've released some keyboard shortcuts to help with navigation and entry in some areas of invoicing, and we delivered the ability to invoice to your contact groups within the new experience. 

    As mentioned while we don't have plans for changing the behaviour of the select options when sending an invoice, these are driven by your last selection, using web browser settings. 

    Recently, we made a slight change to the way defaults are applied when you copy and invoice for a contact. So, now when you copy and invoice to the same contact defaults from their contact will be applied to the draft invoice, which aligns with the way this worked…
