NZ Payroll - employee earnings summary report for each pay run.
Pay cycle report (report to be saved in the Payroll module after each pay cycle)
1 voteThanks for sharing your idea.
You can actually already view employee earnings summary reports for any posted pay run. These reports are saved automatically against the pay run once it is posted.
To view them:
- Go to Payroll > Pay employees.
- Click on the specific Pay Period you want to view.
- Click the Options button.
- Select the report you want.
I will close this idea as Existing Functionality. If you need an extra hand you can raise a case with our Xero Support team.

NZ Payroll - YTD payroll report
YTD payroll report (to see total salaries earned by staff for each reporting period)
1 voteHi Yash, thanks for submitting your idea for a YTD payroll report.
Good news! You can currently achieve this in NZ Payroll using the following existing reports:
- Pay History Report: Run this report for your desired date range (e.g., 1 April to today) to view a detailed breakdown of what has been paid to employees. It lists payments by date, allowing you to see salaries earned for each reporting period.
- Gross Earnings Report: This report can be generated for a specific date range (YTD) to see total earnings per employee, or for a specific pay run to see the totals for that reporting period.
I will close this idea as Existing functionality. If you need an extra hand you can raise a case with our Xero Support specialists. 😊

Navigation
Please put the search widget on the top line - at the moment we have to click on the search icon then click on the search "bar" to begin searching. It would be so much easier and quicker to get to that stage in one.
1 voteHi Christopher, when initially released there was the need to click in the search field to begin typing once you clicked the Search 'magnifying glass' icon. However, our product team improved this so now when you click the magnifying glass for Search in the navigation your cursor will default to the search field so you can get straight into typing - You can see my update for this here
If you're experiencing different behaviour, I'd recommend raising a case with our specialists at Xero Support through Xero Central so we can have a closer look into this for you. Thanks

Access Journal Report from dashboard
On the "Tax and reporting" box on the Dashboard, could we please be able to link to the Journal Report from here as well?
That's all. Simple :)
1 voteHi Stephen, it's possible to favourite the Journal report which will make this accessible from the Reporting drop down menu from any page in Xero. 😊

Option to copy superannuation payment to bill
Have a button to copy a Superannuation Payment to a draft bill, to simplify reconciliation of the payment.
I pay myself every week, and pay superannuation as part of the process. While the details are in front of me, I create a bill for the superannuation payment, which Xero then recognises as matching the payment when I do the reconciliation - I don't need to find the numbers again when it's time to reconcile the payment.
Offering a button to automate that bill creation would streamline the process.
From where I sit, it looks simple. Might not be so simple…
1 voteThanks for sharing this idea about adding a button to copy a Superannuation payment to a draft bill to make reconciliation easier. We understand the workflow pain you’re trying to solve.
From an accounting and payroll-reconciliation perspective, converting payroll super liabilities into a bill can introduce duplication of liability. If a bill is coded to a superannuation expense, it double counts expense and creates an extra payable. Best practice is to clear the existing superannuation payable when you make the payment (ideally via Auto Super), rather than re‑creating it as a bill.
To keep Payroll reports and your General Ledger aligned, we recommend using the Superannuation Accrual or Superannuation Payments report and reconciling payments against the superannuation payable liability. This avoids overstating costs or liabilities and maintains clean auditability.
If you need an extra hand with using the Auto superannuation payment feature you can raise a case with our Xero…

Payroll having access to submit a question or request on Xero Central
I have a member of staff who I have granted access to the payroll feature, however she cannot submit anything to Xero central such as a question or request. The only way this can be done is if I also give access to the accounting feature as well which I do not wish to do. Can you improve the system so that anyone who has payroll access can submit a request to xero central.
1 voteYour employees with Payroll only permission should be able to access Xero Central as they have a Xero login and this is the only requirement. If your employees are not able to access Xero Central can you please raise a case with our Xero Support specialists so we can look into this. 😊

Quotes - Add customer Account Number to template
Invoice Settings - need to be able to add account number to Quotes. This feature is available for invoices but not for quotes. We currently have to copy and paste the account number from the clients contact details.
1 voteHi Jamie
You can include the customer's account number in your quotes if you use an advanced template for them (also known as a Custom DOCX branding theme).
Our sample quote template includes the «ContactAccountNumber» merge field that adds this onto the quote for you.
We have a bit if help around this in Xero Central Create an advanced invoice template and: Fields you can insert into an advanced invoice template (it's the same process for quotes), but if you need an extra hand, you can raise a case with our Xero Support specialists. 😊

Supplier Invoices - draft preview
I am not liking downloading an invoice in suppliers invoices/drafts to view the invoice to coorect the draft to then approve. It's more steps, more time and adds another copy of the invoice in download form to my laptop storage. It feels like step backwards. Can we please go back to having a preivew in the drafts screen as that is where the preview was used most.
1 voteHi Lexi, you can preview a Draft bill as well as view a side by side preview of attached files to the Draft bill from the quick view option on the Bills list.
If you click the eye icon to the left of the Bill in the list view this will open the Bill so you can view it's contents. From here you can click the 'Files' button to View any attached documents.

VAT on Journals
When posting a journal it would be useful to see the VAT on each row, rather than a total at the foot of the journal. Each line would show Net, VAT (if applicable) and Gross.
0 votesHi Andy, you can already do this in Xero.
When creating a manual journal, click the “+” icon next to the Tax Rate column header. This will add an extra column showing the tax amount breakdown, with the net amount displayed in the final debit or credit column.
If you need an extra hand you can raise a case with our Xero Support specialists. 😊

Getting Started with Xero - List of tasks
Create a task list for new users of what they need to set up or complete in order to start working. Include links to the learning material for those tasks. New small business owner and I was not sure what exactly I had to set up or edit before just jumping in so I learnt when doing the tasks that I needed to set up a default invoice as example
1 voteHi Phil, thanks for raising this with us. Luckily I cna let you know that Xero has indeed set up certain tasks when you first set up your new Xero organisation, adding bank accounts and bankfeeds, invoice templates, adding users. Im sorry that this wasn't clear to you when you started your organisation. We also have options to set up calls when you hit certain milestones if you need more help. But thank you for letting us know this would be helpful and I hope we can be helpful when needed.😊

Link to invoices on issued Statements - Custom Clients
Link to invoices on issued Statements - Custom Clients
It would be beneficial to have a "review" type option on statements issued where clients can click into the review and see which invoices show as paid or unpaid. From there they can see in a single screen view what they need to attend too.
1 voteThis is already possible within Xero Nicole!. While not specifically as described but your customers can click on a link when they open an invoice or a statement emailed to them, and this will take them to their outstanding invoices in Xero. If you'd like to try this out you can email a statement to yourself and follow the link. 🙂

Superannuation settings - SMSF ESA - able to change lower case to upper case
Currently, if you enter the ESA (electronic service address) of a SMSF (self-managed super fund) into Xero in lowercase instead of uppercase/capital letters, Xero times out and doesn't save when you ask it to. Xero should be able to take input in lowercase and automatically adjust it to the uppercase that seems to be required. Alternatively, an error message that tells me wheat the problem is would be useful.
1 voteHi Freya, I've looked into this and was able to add a fund ESA using both lowercase and uppercase with no issues. If you haven't already, you might like to clear your browser's cache and cookies to see if that helps. If you're still running into issues adding a SMSF, I'd recommend you raise a case with Xero support to get some help.

New Invoicing | Price History
Dear Xero Support Team,
I hope this message finds you well.
I would like to request a feature enhancement within the invoicing function in Xero. As a business that offers custom pricing to different customers, I often sell the same product at varying prices depending on the customer relationship, volume, or promotional discounts.
Currently, when creating a new invoice in Xero, I am unable to view the previous selling price I offered to a specific customer for a particular product. This makes it difficult to maintain consistency and analyze pricing strategies.
Feature Request:
It would be extremely helpful if Xero…1 voteThanks for coming to us with this Idea Dexter, I am happy to say this is already possible within Xero . While not specifically set out as you have described, the option to 'Add contacts last items' will populate the invoice with the last items so you can see the price that was charged etc the last time you invoiced the customer.
If you'd like to try this out before taking action in your own org, you can use the demo company to test it. 🙂

Bank reconciliation - account allocation
When a contact is selected in the bank reconciliation it would be very helpful if the account and tax rate could be pre-filled from the details in the contact record. Example - I have setup Caltex as a contact with the default account as MV - Fuel & Oil and default tax code of GST on Expenses. When I select Caltex in the bank reconciliation as the Who the account MV - Fuel & Oil is prefilled to the What and GST on Expenses is pre-filled in the Tax rate. This is similar to how the account and tax rate…
2 votesHi Sharon, you can already do this in Xero!
The most effective existing tool is Bank Rules. You can set up rules that autoamtically idenitfy specific bank statement details, and allocate them to a predetermined Contact, Account, and Tax rate. Once set up, Xero suggests the correct coding, requiring only a click of "OK" to reconcile.
Xero also uses memorisation feature that remembers how the last transaction for a specific contact was coded, auto-filling the details for subsequent transactions.
We have a bit of help around this in Xero Central about bank rules and reconciling your bank account but if you need an extra hand you can raise a case with our Xero Support specialists. 😊

Jax - Invoice Due Date
JAX currently does not pull the customers due date from the customers file. Because that feature isn't live yet, JAX doesn't help our organization to be able to use JAX to create invoices. I wanted to bring it to your attention in the hopes your product team is working on it. You may already be working on it, I just didn't see it listed anywhere.
Our customers have different invoice due dates depending on how their account is setup. Because of this, we would have to look up each due date for the customer and manually change it. It would…
1 voteHi Brandy! Did you know it's already possible to do this in Xero via JAX?
To get JAX to automatically use your contacts’ default due dates, simply prompt it once to apply the default dates set in each contact’s profile.
From then on, JAX will create draft invoices that use those contacts’ specific due dates.
If you’d like an extra hand setting this up, you can raise a case with our Xero Support specialists 😊

AU Contacts
At present, contact details (name, phone, email, bank account information, etc.) can only be viewed or updated by searching and opening each contact individually. This is very time-consuming when managing multiple suppliers and clients.
It would be extremely helpful to have a report or consolidated contact list view that displays all relevant contact information in one place — including name, phone, email, bank account details, and other key fields. Ideally, this report would also allow for:
Bulk viewing of contact information without needing to open each contact separately.
Inline editing or the ability to update fields directly from the list/report…
1 voteHi Anna Maria, while not directly within Xero you can bulk update contacts via an export and import. Just follow the steps in our Xero Central article here. 😊

Spreadsheet-style navigation in bills & invoices
Data entry would be much faster if Xero worked like a spreadsheet:
• Enter = down to next row • Tab = across columnsMost users are already used to this behaviour from Excel/Sheets, so it feels natural. It would save time and reduce errors when entering bills and invoices.
3 votesHi Donough, you can already press Tab key in Xero to move across columns. We do have additional shortcuts as well. You can refer to the Xero Central article Tips and shortcuts for more information, but if you need an extra hand you can raise a case with our Xero Support specialists. 😊

Tracking Summary Report - bring back the ability to run this report by specific account code
In the new Tracking Summary Report (from 11 Nov 2025 the old report is no longer available) had removed the ability to run the report by specific account codes. Please bring this feature back as we use it to identify and track costs in the specific account codes. This also enable us to identify and correct any transactions that are missing a tracking code in each specific account code. We do not use this report by account type which is the only option in the new report.
1 voteHi Cecilia, thanks for sending in your feedback about the new Tracking Summary Report!
Just to clarify, you can run the report for specific account types like Assets, Liabilities, Sales, and so on—similar to the Account Groups options in the old report.
We’ve updated the idea status to Existing Functionality since the new Tracking Summary report works the same way as the old one, just with a few terms changed here and there.
If we have misunderstood you, please get back in touch.

Contacts - Add decent length text field to Financial Details section
I would like to add information such as the date their bank details were changed on Xero and whether independent verification of the new details has been done (and how). This is becoming more important as the number of phishing invoices increases. If possible, the capability to attach a relevant document (eg notification from supplier of bank change) but if not possible, then a decent character length text field (as a comparison, the current Reference field is way too short and doesn't allow puctuation).
4 votesHi team, as noted in my last update we don't have any plans for increasing characters for the Financial Details section of a Contact record, however this information could be added as a note to the contacts record.

Bills - Enlarge preview
Make the preview bill bigger and make it so you can drag and drop it to another screen.
3 votesHi John, coming back around to your idea and not hearing extra detail we will move this to existing functionality.
Today, when previewing a file attached within an individual bill you can click the icon with an arrow which will pop out and enlarge the preview modal where you can zoom in and out.
Alternatively, using the quick view option from the list screen you can click the same icon on the preview which will open the attachment in a separate tab. Hopefully this meets the needs of what you're after.
