  1. Ability for Xero to treat an overpayment with VAT on - I don't want to use a secondary debtors control account.

We have a client on the VAT cash accounting scheme and we have a number of overpayments which need to hit the debtors control account. When I run the VAT return, these amounts are not being captured for VAT purposes since there is no option to select a tax rate when using the overpayments option.

Should I treat these as prepayments, Xero will allow me to code these to a nominal account with VAT. However, the nominal code I…

  2. Being able to group the account transaction report by contact is brilliant but unfortunately the report has default columns for Debit, Credit, Gross and VAT and not running balance or net.

If the client is VAT registered the total showed by contact is VAT inclusive so please can the report also have the Net column turned on by default.

  5. Being able to click on the summary page to show what is entered in that field would be good or a drop down box on the BAS summary page. Having to scroll through sales to get to the expenses is time consuming.

  6. When posting a bill, you must use the drop down menu to "approve and add another" because the button defaults to just "approve". If there was a way to change this it would save time when entering multiple bills at once.

  7. We really need an option to account for back orders when invoicing. Other accounting software providers ie MYOB have this option. I was surprised to find there was no automatic option in Xero.

  9. I am not happy with the treatment of dishonoured/reversed payments on Xero when it comes to debtors/customers (and similarly creditors/suppliers) (see attached support screenshot).

Dishonoured payments must be processed via the accounts receivable and payable channels as is the custom on any other accounting package.

The customer's records and statements must reflect when payments were dishonoured (true refection) and it should not be handled outside of the customer's module as Xero is currently doing (by deleting the original payment from the customer and allocating it a GL account and then allocating the dishonoured reversal to the same GL account).

    The…

  10. Expenses module: We want the ability to customise the Expenses Claim Reference.

All expenses under the Reference are set as "Expense Claims," which makes it impossible to search specific claims/events or others. Can this not be customised within the expenses Module ?

The recommendation from Xero is to revert to manual expenses, which defeats the objective of paying for the Expenses module. Any chance this can be added or will we need to remove the feature as there is no point paying for something we need to do manually?

  13. Manual Journals - Ability to to set Tax Defaults in Financial Settings like you can for sales and purchases. This will enable the user to set it to Tax inclusive and every time a new journal is created it will be tax inclusive instead of no tax.

Appreciate different businesses operate differently when setting up and approving deals. Some businesses specifically leave off detail from quotes for their own circumstance too.

Imagine this'd need to be an optional org setting, and not something we have plans for right now but we'll get a sense of the interest here.

  15. It would be great if you could automatically allocate prepayments to an invoice once the invoice has been created. Or at least receive notification that a prepayment exists so you can manually receipt it.

We are experiencing that clients have made extra repayments (prepayments) but when the invoice is created and sent to the client they pay the amount on the invoice and the prepayments are still sitting in the system, meaning we then have to issue a refund.

It would be helpful if the negative balance of the prepayment would sit under the clients name so when you are…

  17. See Inventory Item Cost when doing a Quote. I would find it helpful, when doing a quote to a customer, to see the cost of the inventory item I am quoting on. Of course, it should not appear in the final quote going to the client, but seeing it, would give me more confidence in doing my quote and make it a lot quicker. Thanks

  18. Currently to reimburse employees for expenses you have to add them manually to each pay run for each employee, it would make sense for expenses that have been added using the expenses function to auto add to payroll each month to reduce work and to allow staff to be reimbursed quicker. this would also make the expenses function more worthwhile for the cost.

This would reduce stress for staff putting on employees as expenses that have been approved will automatically be added and marked as paid.

  19. When uploading a 20% vat rate expense via the Xero Expense App please allow for the VAT box to be overwritten if required. This is an issue when the Xero rounding is different to that on the receipt, usually by 1p.
    Thanks

  20. In Xero a receivable invoice status is shown as paid whether it is actually paid or whether a credit note is applied to the invoice.
Can a new status be added to show when an invoice a credit note is applied, for example "Credited".
This will help identify actual payments received vs credit notes issued
