User Role - Restrict access to specific Settings

Ability to customise user roles to restrict some access in Xero.

Purpose: Some staff should only have limited access in Xero.

Hey everyone, we've been following the conversation closely and we want to acknowledge how important this is for many of you.

Atm, we’re on a long journey to provide more controls within Xero features that our customers need. Being such a broad idea that touches many areas of our platform, we’d like to encourage adding your votes to specific user permissions that matter most to you, such as:

This change will allow us to focus on the more specific requests to explore. If you don’t see the user permission you’re after, raise a new idea here.

    need to rectify the issue of not being able staff to perform their jobs without giving tehm access to full bank details

    We have people at different levels using xero. The limited range of access to pick from means, they either have to too much information or not enough depending on the level you pick. In usual Xero style they will either ignore this request, or tell us to suck it up as this is how it is going to be.

    This is so important, sometimes you have users who can perform actions in general but should not see sensitive data. For example Directors payroll info and expenses should only be visible to appropriate staff, however other staff may routinely perform payroll functions for non-director employees.

    Definitely need this! Our company cannot use the xero quoting system, because otherwise our sales people have access to all sorts of things that they should not be able to see/do.

    So we currently use a WORD template / PDFs for creating quotes, then once an order comes in, I have to manually duplicate it into Xero. Wastes time for both me and the sales people.

    Sales people should have access to raise quotes only.
    Finance people will then raise/edit/delete the invoices etc.

    So simple. Why is this still not possible?!?!?

    Perhaps we should create a petition for this and send it directly to Xero because its such a fundamental part of any IT system, especially when handling sensitive business data. Surely they must understand that it will retain customers and attract more if they get this permissions issue sorted! Changing the user interface to make it look nicer isn't going to cut it!!

    I would like a user who currently has access to quotes and invoices to be able to access the products and services module as well. Because she cant access this she has to manually type out the quotes!!
    This lady has an encyclopaedic knowledge of all our products but she cant enter details onto Xero - bonkers.

    I have hired staff to take care of reconciliation and general book-keeping. I really don't want them to have access to the company bank account balance. This is ludicrous. Seriously considering changing to a different system unless xero fixes this.

    If you hire overseas staff to perform specific duties, then it is very important that they have their access restricted to certain functions.

    The Draft user role does not allow them to work as part of a team, as they can only see draft repeating bills they create. Repeating draft bills can be worked on from anyone for submissions and approval.

    Would like the ability to restrict user access to viewing bank account balances via bank accounts tab or dashboard. Not all users need access to this information. Draft user role is too limited for practicality.

    Just ability to upload files both in Xero and through the app would be really useful

    would enable the option of staff being able to adjust an invoice that has had a payment against it but not access to all bank accounts...

    I find this the biggest struggle I have with Xero. I would like to be able to restrict my staff from seeing our banking information, but still give them access to some reports. It makes it really difficult to keep them busy enough and so much falls on my shoulders.

    This feature would be a great help, especially to restrict certain reports that users can see, in particular for those who work in sales ledger or purchase ledger but should not be able to access other financial reports such as P&L.

    This would be a great feature - looks like it's been bubbling around for quite some time - hopefully gets into the pipeline.
