Hi everyone, we appreciate all your feedback on how we could evolve roles for customers using Xero. As you can see through the ideas on the platform, there are a wide range of combinations of permissions our customers want to see us build. As user roles impact all areas of the product, there are many considerations we must factor in when assessing how to solve for majority of our customers needs.
We’re beginning to conduct research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. Front footing this, the discovery of this work will be long winded and there will be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.
We’d like to invite you, our community to be part of this research and discovery. This may involve interviews…An error occurred while saving the comment Timea Hoskins supported this idea · -

Hi community, first off thank you for the continued interest and feedback surrounding this idea. We’re continuing to build on the bank reconciliation experience in Xero and recognise the ways this feature will help improve the efficiency, flexibility and transparency of transactions in your business. Our team have done a lot of exploration into being able to surface and match Credit Notes when reconciling your bank account in Xero, and this is now in development.
We’ll shift the idea here into ‘Working on it’ and continue to update as there’s more detail of this to share.

Thanks for your response, Jordan. Can see why the Account Transactions report won't fit in this scenario.
To be upfront we don't have current plans around this with much of our reporting teams focus on change in the new reporting framework in lead up to removing older reports in July this year - More on this here
I've slightly amended the title of your idea and we'll feel out the interest for this here and update if any change is planned.
For now if not already, I'd highly encourage sharing link to the idea here with your clients and colleagues that'd like to see this to support, too.
An error occurred while saving the comment Timea Hoskins commentedAs with Jordan, we also have clients who use tracking categories for business divisions - and absolutely the account transactions report only goes so far to identify the appropriate balances per division. The late claims as mentioned are the issue here and so there has to be a lot of manual reports outside of Xero to enable accurate analysis. This would be so easy to add - it is merely a filter not a link of data - each transaction is already lined to any appropriate tracking category.

Hi everyone
We wanted to provide you an update on our progress for this idea as it’s very much something we want to make easier for you all. The feedback you’ve provided so far has been helpful. One of the big problems our Product team identified in this thread and in other customer research is how hard it is for customers to navigate their statement lines to gain a holistic view of the work they need to do and complete their work flows efficiently.
I’m pleased to share that they’re in the early stages of developing a solution that will help to improve this experience by combining a search tool with an increased number of statement lines being returned to the page.
The product team has a working concept and are looking to validate this with some customers before working out the final details. If you’re interested in participating, please…

Hi community, appreciate the want for more of an update from us on this highly voted idea. Since Kelly’s last message I am pleased to let you know that our product team has done some discovery work in this space. More specifically, exploring the different ways in which the problem could be solved in Xero, alongside understanding the technical challenges. The feedback you’ve shared has been really useful for our product team’s research 🙏
We recognise the importance of needing to know which bills are flagged, so people making payment can review whether a bill should be paid or not, to avoid inadvertent payment. Being able to improve this workflow is important to us and once we have solution concepts, we will be sure to reach out to this community for feedback.
Right now there are no specific time frames available as to when this might be worked on, but…

Hi Wojciech, if an invoice or bill has already been paid there is no amount left outstanding for the invoice. It sounds like you'd like the ability to easily copy the detail of an invoice to a credit note? I've slightly updated the title of your idea here, for this.
If this doesn't quite reflect it'd be great to get more detail of scenarios you'd in which your business receives a credit note for a completely paid invoice or bill.

Hi everyone, it'd be good to know if there are there any specific reports that you'd find this particularly helpful in?
Timea Hoskins supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Timea Hoskins commentedHi @kellymunro this would be particularly useful on any P&L reports. Very often the chart of accounts has been set so that the numbers represent a group of similar expenses e.g. all premises costs may start 45* and it's great to have them all together visually even if not subtotalling them. I realise that with the new reports you can customise them to form these sub-groups or collective costs / income groups. But for some clients this is either overkill or confusing.
Also what @mindyjacoby / @michelleorlowski said ;)

Hi everyone
To follow on from Kelly’s last update, the Product team have made a lot of headway in the 'building on beautiful' work which has prepared the platform to more easily build features solving customer problems, like the ones identified in this thread.
I’m pleased to share that we’re in the early stages of developing a solution that combines increasing the number of statement lines being returned to the page and a search and filter across all of your statement lines.
The product team has a working concept and are looking to validate this with some customers before working out the final details. If you’re interested in participating, please register your interest here. Given the popularity of this idea we expect spaces to fill up fast. Update: we have since closed the form as we have enough interest. We also want to make sure we test…

And if you could also filter the matching screen by tracking category, I would literally kiss you! We use categories for trading entities... and have for example one supplier providing same cost services to multiple entities - as you can image trying to guess which invoice from them is for which entity is a nightmare!

Hi team, to export a list of all Tracking categories in your org, you may find the Tracking Summary report of use to you here. Alternatively, you could run the Account Transactions report and Summarise by the Tracking category.
The one caveat here for both reports is that they'll only show a list of the tracking options that have been used within the date range the report is run.
An error occurred while saving the comment Timea Hoskins commentedWe have a client who has 3 entities in one Xero company - transactions are identified by tracking categories. To be able to allocate the VAT return per tracking category would be amazing, at the moment this is a very time consuming clunky manual process. Not to mention reconcile bank transactions with a tracking category filter...Thanks.

An error occurred while saving the comment Timea Hoskins commentedAs Craig and Yasmin have said the ability to filter by tracking categories is essential to speeding up so may processes but in particular with regards to bank reconciliations. We have a client who has 3 entities in her Xero programme, all using the same suppliers with the same billing amounts for each entity in a lot of cases - this enhancement would be a life saver - no exaggeration! ;)

An error occurred while saving the comment Timea Hoskins commentedAlso would be good if tracking categories was part of this filter. Where tracking categories are used for example as trading entities it will help to ensure the correct invoice is reconciled if suppliers invoice for multiple entities.

This is so important, sometimes you have users who can perform actions in general but should not see sensitive data. For example Directors payroll info and expenses should only be visible to appropriate staff, however other staff may routinely perform payroll functions for non-director employees.
