Quotes - Import/Export ability
Ability to export and import quotes in Xero.
Purpose: Because putting quotes in/from a spreadsheet can make users better calculate future cash flow.

Using SharePoint in the business. I can load a csv file to SharePoint from the excel quoting system easily and get notifications when one arrives in sharepoint. I can upload a quote to xero but only as an invoice not as a quote. huh?
A work around is to upload the csv as an invoice. save as quote in xero then delete original uploaded invoice.
I want to be able to upload the csv as a quote directly and not have to go the invoice route -

Thanks Louw and Valerie,
That's helpful and goes some way to meet our needs, but we also use the Quote Summary field to hold some important free-form text information and that doesn't seem to be available as a column on the report

Click on Accounting/Reports
Scroll down to Payables and Receivables and select the Receivable Invoice Detail report
On the left hand side of the screen there is a menu or it may be hidden in which case click on >
The report "All Quotes Detail" is listed further down.
The report should appear and you can now select your date range. Then set the "Group by" to "Contact" and Update.
This should list all your quotes by Customer. Then export to csv.
Hope this helps.Credit to Valerie

The ability to export a single quote to Excel or Word would be very helpful so that I can use the data to track the delivery of the service quoted.

Export a Quote to Excel.
Some documents (like Bills) in Xero you can simply highlight the text on the screen and copy and paste to excel. Sadly this is not the case with Quotes. Especially on quotes that have many line items it would be great to be able to pull it into Excel to check things and make notes and sort columns. -

Hi David, See my post below (20 Oct) re: running reports on Quotes. It is possible to get this information out of Xero into a spreadsheet.

This would save me days of work for every project.
At the moment Im copying and pasting each field of each line of each quote into excel.
It's necessary because I need Xero to correctly identify quote lines so clients get invoiced without error. I need excel to calculate what proportion of a quoted price has been supplied and therefore is chargeable. And many other details.
I moved from Zoho to Xero because Xero said they had a full CIS system working with HMRC (UK)
I discovered that Xero isn't really as mature as Zoho in many ways, though the simplicity and speed of use is attractive.
Xero do seem very slow on dev, and seem to be mostly interested in picking up trade from small retailers and the like. Nothing even slightly unique...

Works like a bomb thank you
Why it gets hidden here - no one knows?.... - is it really an account receivable if it is only a quote.....? and yeah I understand cash flow possibility and projections..

@ Valerie Hague
It is possible to run a Receivable Invoice Detail report, click on the "minimise" to reveal the left hand side menu and there is an "All Quotes Detail" report. This can then be sorted by Contact and exported to Excel.
Still need the import facility though. Please elaborate. I cannot do what you are explaining....?

@Valerie Hague - this is a great suggestion. The only time I have seen quote data exported. Thank you for helping us more than Xero!

Seriously can't believe we can't import spreadsheet items into Quotes. I have 400 items on a spreadsheet I need to quote and have to do this with copy and paste?

We are transferring from another invoice program so would really benefit from being able to transfer existing quotes to Xero making a smooth transition.

Currently critical as margin is not displayed in the quote screen. Export/Import to Excel would allow a workaround allowing us to work the quote values in the spreadsheet and then import the finished result back into Xero.

Also require the accepted date to be exported to analyse what we have sold month by month - please develop this as urgently required.
An accepted quotes report is now available but still unable to select the report by accepted date range and the headers don’t match the data! E.g. the quote numbers have a header of invoice numbers. Seems half developed. -

We require the export function to be able to import to our CRM system that runs alongside Xero, so this function is critical for us.
