New Invoicing - Option to switch Autosave off
I don't want autosave on for invoicing - I use third party software to copy invoice details to a Trello Card, this is triggered when the invoice is saved.
Auto saving will send the invoice info through to Trello before the invoice is complete, meaning not all the info will be sent to Trello.
Are we able to turn off the auto save function in new invoicing?

I use an invoice to check our sell prices and then don't save so the invoice number can be used. Please allow us to be able to turn off Auto Save. It really makes no sense at all that we can't change this?????????????

Something I noticed today, when an invoice autosaves and you have attachments open in the same view, it changes the visible attachment to the first one in the list. Which is REALLY ANNOYING when I'm copying information off of an attachment that isn't the first one.

Hi Xero, are you able to give us feedback on whether having the option to disable the autosave is something that is being seriously considered, and if so, what the timeframe is please?
Your product team may think waiting up to five seconds for a button to activate in the data entry screen isn't such a big deal (which I'm guessing is why they introduced this feature without the ability to turn it off), but this is happening to me multiple times a day, and is becoming increasingly frustrating everytime it does. Especially when none of the other cloud software I use to run my business has this issue.
Come on Xero, can you communicate with us on what the plan is here please. I don't expect this to be fixed tomorrow, but I would like to know that you're listening and there's light at the end of this tunnel....? -

This is causing all sorts of problems with our invoicing. You can't breath without it saving. We have lost previous invoice information without the option of reverting back and it has slowed down the whole process because every time you press return it is saving. XERO GIVE US THE OPTION OF AUTO SAVE, NOT HAVE IT AS A DEFAULT WITH NO OPTIONS!

We also have massive issues with this feature being a default. PLEASE make the "auto save" as an option. I dont need to itemise the resons for my request as the many many many others that have the same problem have detailed enough reasons.

i have a software's which are integrated with xero and this auto save feature will slow me down by a lot
1. when i make an invoice it will go to my logistics app with the order but when it starts saving before i finish it will go to the logistics app with a uncompleted order
2. all my clients have different pricing so i like to press add last item so i can't proceed with your idea of making the order then adding the clients name because ill need to go up and down with pages to make sure im in putting the right price
i strongly advice adding a toggle to turn this feature off because i don't have much time until September to adapt to this method and slow me down as i get over 100 orders for each day -

I (and the finance team I work alongside) strongly second this feature request. It should be an optional setting. We use Zapier to automatically create our draft invoices so we can't leave out the 'To:' field to avoid autosaving. And we dislike the autosave feature at times as it prevents us from cancelling our changes and starting again if the editing of a draft invoice goes wrong.

I use the invoice as a worksheet. The last thing I want is every little mistake and iteration saved in the audit trail for all history.

Autosave is the worst feature. Why would i need to auto save when im doing the invoice in real time. This has made invoicing so slow while being charged a higher amount.
The old system was so much better.
Everytime i put a customer's name and tab across to the invoice number, by the time it loads the customers settings it defaults the invoice number so you have to retype it. If you dont want that to happen then you have to wait until the autosave feature is complete which is around 5-8 seconds. So losing so much time with this -

Agreed! Autosave is not the time saver for everyone that Xero might think it is!

Keep the possibility to revert changes (no autosave triggered all the time). For those of us who work heavily on complex and lengthy invoices, please allow us the ability to turn off auto-saving as this is going to cause huge issues when you don't want to save the changes made.

Autosaving is a NIGHTMARE. We should be able to have the option to turn this feature off. It slows down inputting, saves when you are not wanting things saved - grrrrrr can we please turn this option off?

Hi team
I get the benefit autosave brings to the bulk of the users for entering invoices, but reading through the comments below I can see some have the same issue I have, where the autosaving is slowing down my invoicing process.
When I create an invoice for a job, I continually find myself having to wait for the autosave to complete before I can attach a pdf of the job details that needs to go out with the invoice. As a workaround I try to remember to attach the file straight after the contact has loaded, but this isn't always possible and often I just forget to do it :)
Even if it's not possible to turn it off, maybe something that doesn't update every time you move out of a field in the invoice form?
Not a show stopper for me compared to the impact it's having on some of the other use cases in this thread, but something that is still frustrating, so thought I'd take the time to comment. -

It makes far more sense to have the option to save and continue or save and close. I have already run into an issue where I made changes on and invoice and realised it was wrong but had no way to cancel the changes I had made. Making it automatic to save changes before you can send would be sensible.

We have hundreds of rolling monthly Invoices where daily or weekly charges are added over the month. THIS. IS. A. NIGHTMARE!!!!! Again productivity has not been thought of at all with this New Invoicing - slowing down a Business's office like this is nuts.

autosave slows down the inputting of data so much, I dont think i can use the new invoice system. When I want to add an item to my invoice it takes too long to load because the web page is saving itself. PLEASE have the option to switch off autosave (or scrap it all together!)

Came here after trying the new "improved" invoicing and found I lost a tonne of data. My invoices get created by a quotation program when they are accepted and when there are only a few line items being invoiced each month I copy to a new invoice and delete the invoiced items off the original. Just made a mistake and deleted 20 incorrect lines, but where I used to be able to just hit refresh to reload the origianl, autosave made that very much permanent for me.
Xero really sucks these days -

We use a different sequence of invoice numbers for our three different services: decorating, landscaping and garden maintenance. We are getting missing numbers by changing the details each time.

When I save, close and then reopen my draft invoice a number 1 appears in the qty column when it still needs to be blank as in the original version. I use draft invoices as large product templates so I then have to delete all the ones to keep my template and customer invoice correct.
