Hi all, we recognise the attention and engagement this idea is getting in response to our announcement of Classic invoicing in September this year.
While we do like hearing about features in Xero that our customers like, we want to be upfront that classic invoicing in itself will be retired as on 2nd September 2024 and we’ll move this idea to not planned here.
Being outdated technology the resource currently serving classic invoicing can then be put toward improvements of new invoicing. There are capabilities new invoicing holds that can help us develop for newer developments that have been asked in these forums that would not be possible with the older system.
We appreciate not all aspects of new invoicing are to all customers’ liking, and we’re reviewing and considering all feedback surrounding this new experience. As you may have seen us mention elsewhere – the best way for us to consider the breadth of a change and clearly communicate updates is through ideas raised in the forums here, on Product Ideas.
You may have noticed we have already made some changes since announced such as copying to a draft quote, downloading the PDF of an invoice when you click Print, one click option to Delete lines as well as others. We’re continuing to enhance the new invoicing experience as we move toward retirement of classic.
I’ve linked some of the top ideas that have been raised from your feedback here which I highly encourage you to support and join for any updates if they are of interest to you. If something hasn’t been raised yet we still want to hear it and you can start new ideas if you can’t find it already suggested.
We thank you all for the feedback we’ve received to help us continue improving Xero and how we make our products better for you all. We’ve just published this blog ( https://blog.xero.com/product-updates/xero-invoicing-smarter-flexible-future/ ) with some updates to new invoicing. It includes what’s been delivered and a message from Darren, who heads up the teams working on new invoicing. He’s given us a sneak peek into some of the updates on the way.
Next week we’ll also be launching a new release notes page on Xero Central with lots of detail and timelines about features that are planned for new invoicing. I’ll share a link to that page once it’s live.
