Lock dates - Warning if user enters a date in a prior / locked period
It would be good if there was a warning if an adviser user inadvertently enters a date in a prior accounting period which has been locked. For example year end is 31 Dec 2022 and a current year bill is entered as 17/11/22 instead of 17/11/23

Xero Product Ideas - Showing a greater Interest in these ideas
I feel that there is a poor level of dialogue from Xero on these ideas. For the top voted topics - I'd like communication as to what they're doing to implement a solution (and if not then why not).
For the ideas that are years old but still receive steady votes - what's happening?
If Xero have no plans to take on certain ideas then make it known.59 votesHi everyone, I appreciate feelings shared in not seeing traction as fast as you'd like to ideas you're interested across Xero Product Ideas.
Our community team are pure advocates for our customers ideas internally, making sure these are shared and highlighted to the teams and individuals that can make a difference, and doing our best to get ideas reviewed and into our teams planning wherever possible.
We receive ideas for incremental, and large changes to existing products, as well as for new features entirely. With so many customers the range of ideas coming from our users is large, and we cannot action all things at once.
We try to be transparent in our communication and updates to ideas across the site, even if this means there is no current development planned for a feature.
I can assure you the site here is a tool that all our product teams find highly valuable. We will do our best to continue to share any updates to ideas across the site as we continue to grow and develop all of Xero.

Sales Invoice | Discount - Ability to set account (not impact line Account)
Discounts - the ability for the discounts in sales to be allocated to an expense account rather than distorting sales figures. At the moment each line item has the cost of the item then applies say 10% discount equals net which then is allocated to the sales account. I would like the option to allocate discounts to an expense called discounts given so that we can track and show the correct sales figures. By distorting sales figures you could be affecting calculations like WET. other programs allows you to setup discounts given & taken and freight even.

Permissions | Ability for Manage users to assign Payroll Admin
If a staff member has Manager User access to a client file this doesn’t allow them to add users to a file with Payroll Admin unless they have Payroll Admin permissions.
It would be good if people are allowed to MANAGE the access without necessarily having themselves.
Can this idea please get implemented as it will avoid adding administrators with Payroll Admin permissions to our large client list when it isn’t required.40 votes -
Billable Expense - reassign billable expenses
To reassign or remove multiple billable expenses at once and to make edits to billable expenses from within reports.
I have a client who has 175 outstanding billable expenses, which need to be removed as the invoices have been billed manually.

Project Summary report - "Project to Date" time period option
We often need to generate Project reports for the time period 'Project to Date'.
This isn't an option in the Project Summary report. Can this be built-in as a further standard option?

Bank Feeds - Customise fields in the Account Transactions tab
It would be handy if account transaction list that shows when you click on your bank account could be modified to include / remove different fields so that you can see information that you would like to see when looking at bank transactions without having to create a custom report.

Purchase Orders - 'Pick Up' option for Delivery field
I would like to have the option of raising a purchase order and selecting 'Pick Up' from the delivery field.

Account Transactions Report - Show Invoice Date and Paid status
On the Account transactions report bank accounts or other accounts it would be great help to have the invoice date as well and paid unpaid status

Invoicing - Automatically delete draft invoices when merging invoices
I would love if when we merged Invoices into 1 from drafts it doesn't leave the draft that I need to manually go back and delete. This can cause double ups of Invoicing.

Sales Invoices - Ability to bulk edit/update invoices
Ability to upload changes to existing invoices via csv.
Currently - When uploading a list of invoices that already exist, Xero will not allow the upload to continue. This feature would mean, that for any invoice that exists already, Xero would prompt the user whether they would like to update changes for existing invoices or not.
Purpose example - For invoices that need to have changes applied, for example amending the due date to an agreed revised payment due date. This change would enable the user to bulk update instead of needing to open each invoice manually and edit each one. (With hundreds of invoices that need amending regularly it would mean a large cost saving to some customers).

Bills - Ability to assign a bill to specific approver
It would be useful to be able to assign a bill to a specific person for approval within the system - without this the function is pretty useless.
This seems like a simple thing if you have this as an option.

AU Payroll - Keep a record of date/time timesheet was entered
Add an automated time record of the time that the timesheet entry was recorded. We can then ensure that our team are entering their timesheets throughout the day as they work on files.

Activity Statement - Filter transactions by Tracking Category
Activity Statement - ability to filter transactions by Tracking Category to check for accurate GST codes. The ability to filter and check GST entered on transactions with Tracking Categories is especially important for NFPs and Charities.
For some organisations, there are specific GST treatments for specific transactions and often these are tracked by the use of Tracking Categories.
Currently in the Activity Statement we can only do a check based on a dump of transactions listed under the tax rate or BAS field tabs, which is cumbersome and clumsy. The current methods available in Xero for auditing and checking GST accuracy, does nothing to help the reviewer accurately and quickly review if GST is correct before submitting the report to the ATO.
Can this area please be reviewed and updated to allow for tax compliance to be met easier and more accurately?

Invoicing - Option to email invoice as a CSV or PDF
It would be great to have the option to email a customer invoice as a csv or pdf or both. We are getting an increasing number of requests to send the csv version of invoices for our customers and this is currently quite a manual process to email the exported invoices.

UK Payroll: Send P45s direct from Xero
At the moment, we can only download the P45 and then email to employees by different software. It would be better if we can just email the P45 directly to employees from Xero.

Xero with Stripe: Support for Afterpay payments
Now that Stripe offers Afterpay, it would be helpful to add Afterpay to Xero's native Stripe integration.
52 votesHi team, we're developing more ways to pay with Stripe!
Soon you'll have the option to offer Afterpay as a payment method to your customers which we know is important to all of you who've voted on this idea.
I'll round back to confirm when it's live and more detail of how to do this. 🙂
