Hiding archived accounts from chart of accounts list when customising report layouts, perhaps with a tick box to show or hide the archived accounts. It makes the job of customising layouts so tedious when the old messy chart of accounts come up every time and you can’t hide the archived accounts!

Contacts - UK specific address fields in contact record
At present when editing a contact, the fields are in USA format with Zip code and State - it would be much better for the UK if we could see Postcode and County

We often use the quick search feature in Xero, and it is often used just to get the client code for files. It would be incredibly helpful if the client code populated next to the client name in the quick search bar to make it easier to see

Budget Variance Consolidated Report - Option to customise date range
Budget Variance Report for 12 months.
Currently the budget variance report is restricted within a selected date range. If we are able to customize the budget variance for the below two options:
Option 1: If there is an option to run the variance report for previous financial year for the 12 individual month with the actual and budget variance.
Option 2: For current Financial Year, if there is an option to customize the monthly actual and budget variance report including the budget for the reminder of 11 months.

Find and Match - Reconcile two statement lines to each other
There needs to be a better matching system with Xero.
For example I have two statement lines that cancel each other out. You should be able to match two statement lines to each other rather than creating invoice/bill to reconcile each line.
Additionally, being able to reconcile multiple statement lines with multiple invoices/bills, overpayments or prepayments needs to be a thing.

Report for Bills not Assigned to Projects - Also include in Hubdoc
My client has started using Projects which I'm finding not easy to use.
We would like to assign bills directs to projects in Hubdoc.
I also want to be able to give my client a list of bills that haven't been assigned. I can see this in bills to pay but its not printable/ exportable and there is no report that will give me this information.
I would also like to include direct spends from bank feed instead of having to create a bill just so we can see its not assigned

Reporting - Edit file name when exporting
Ability to change the file name when exporting reports
When exporting reports, it defaults to Company name_Report Name.pdf. We have a format of naming files in our business which does not match the default format. It would be simpler to be able to change the default file exporting system so that it more closely fits our standards, saving time. This could be added into the company settings. Options include: Report should say: Text [placeholder] Text [placeholder], and "include or exclude underscore".
Options for placeholders include date printed, company name, report name, etc.79 votes -
User role - Invoice only user to issue payment by cheques
Invoice Only : User role - I would like more options assigned to this role. So they can issue payments by cheque. Similar to an accounts payable role. Currently, this user cannot issue cheques, even though Xero states this user can pay bills.

Bank Reconciliation - Add notes and attachments when reconciling
To be able to add notes, to explain why Xero has imported an amount to the feed with a different date to the actual bank statement for example. I have to be able to explain to our accountant why the Xero bak balance is different to the bank statement. It shouldn't do this anyway but it does and I have no way of logging this date error. And add attachments (ie actual bank statements) to a published bank reconciliation, you can upload docs to any transaction but not the actual reconciliation??

Report preferences - Ability to set Comparison periods
Report preferences need more details, eg Comparison periods (to the Date or to the period), apply to custom reports, Apply to Users rather than to Organizations.

So the team can get a pulse of what they should expand this feature to next, it's good to have a separate idea for each new element you'd like to see developed into this. Search - Show "description" column in search results
We use the search facility when trying to locate a previous invoice from a customer but the search doesn't show a summary of the items ordered (the "description" column) so could you perhaps add the "description" column listing into the search results when the down arrow is pressed that currently only shows the date and payment total. We find we need to go through so many invoices just to find the one which has a certain "product" customer ordered.

Bills - Option to email customers to confirm supplier bill is accepted
Upon capturing a supplier bill in Xero, is it possible to have Email option to send an acknowledgement to the supplier for accepting the bill? Email option is there in Invoice, same way can we have the feature enabled in Bills as well?

Lock Previous Year End Accounts & "Compare with" Custom Dates
When changing the year end for a client, it would be nice if previous year's could be locked in dates, fixed assets, etc.
Once the year end is changed, it seems to amend the dates for the previous year in all reports too, if (for example) the new year end means the current "year" runs to 13+ months (such as when the year end is extended): it's hard to get the comparative period in any popular reports to show the previous year as it was filed.
And especially in the TB, I can't get it to show a period for more than a year.
It seems this could be fixed either with customisable comparative periods, or by locking dates post-filing? (Which would help with the Fixed Asset issues too).When changing the year end for a client, it would be nice if previous year's could be locked in dates, fixed assets, etc.

Find and Recode - Find transactions before lock date
At the moment, if dates are locked, you can't see transactions in Find and Recode prior to that date. I often use Find and Recode to check the previous coding of contacts/accounts and in order to see them I need to unlock dates and then relock them again. It would useful if they could still be viewed despite dates being locked but perhaps those prior to the lock date are greyed out to show they can't be changed?

Invoicing - DOCX merge field for Payment Currency on Paid invoices
When I send a paid invoice pdf to a customer I would like it to show the original currency and also the currency they paid in. I'd also like it to show the exchange rate of the payment, rather than the Xero calculated currency. At the moment this field isn't available in the docx merge fields.

Invoices - Add account overdue pop up
To have an account overdue notice pop up on invoice screen once customer name is entered. If a customer has an outstanding account - the reminder and amount overdue to pop up as a bit of a warning to the owner whether they should be continuing to do business with this customer, or at least until the account is settled. (I believe reckon account have this feature available and at my previous employment we found this to be most useful)

Xero Expenses - Combine Expenses into a single claim
Currently Xero Expenses creates a single expense claim for each individual item.
Normal practice for an expense claim is it contains multiple lines (different expenses), such as parking, a restaurant bill and a hotel.I would like to have the ability to group individual expense lines into one expense claim.
I would then have a single bill to pay (an expense claim with multiple lines) appear in my Bills to pay, rather than one for each line.

At present, this isn't something we have planned, but we'll continue to keep a pulse on the interest for this here.
Currently, from the web there is an option to 'Approve all' expenses for a single employee. 🙂
