Contacts - date added /opened to be included in the contacts report
When trying to identify how many new contacts have been added in a certain period it is impossible without pulling months of billing and sorting by client name. Also would be great for marketing to know about Client anniversaries.
Simply by adding a field for the date added when setting up the record would be ideal, it could then be shown on the exported contacts report.

Dashboard - Ability to set up another users dashboard
We would like to be able to hide certain bank accounts on the dashboard so our employees who reconcile our bank accounts don't also see our payroll bank account (same with loan accounts, savings accounts etc) where the wages get paid from. I.e. the ability to edit the dashboard and 'hide' a bank account for certain employees/ Xero users. Currently as I understand, editing the dashboard is unique to the logged in user.
8 votesHi Heiko, even if you were to hide the bank account from the dashboard, if the user has permissions that enable them to access bank accounts they would be able to view this information somewhere else.
It sounds like you'd be interested in the idea across here asking for the ability to restrict access to bank accounts. Would this be correct?
If so, I'll merge to keep this feedback altogether.

AU Payroll - Reportable W1 for new pay items in Australia
When adding new Pay Items in Australia, Reportable as W1 should be ticked as a ticked as the default as the vast majority of Pay Items in Australia are Reportable under W1.
Every time the award changes and we import pay items from Deputy, the new items have Reportable as W1 turned off and we have to manually change them.
Changing the Xero default may or may not fix that problem but it should be the default nonetheless.

UK Payroll - Multiple workplace pension contribution levels
UK payroll - Have the ability to fully process 2 workplace pension schemes. We have 2 contribution schedules, one basic minimum level, one at higher levels. Sage can process both of these and send the correct contribution amounts to NEST. XERO is unable to do this and requires manual intervention in XERO and at NEST. This is crazy, surely I am not the only one with more than one set of contribution schedules?????

Projects - See all unpaid bills linked to a Project invoice
When I assign supplier invoices to a project then charge the client those amounts and get paid, at the moment to then go and pay those supplier invoices after being payed by the client I have to note down all the invoice numbers then go into bills to pay and find all the invoices to create a batch payment. it would be helpful to be able to pay the bills attached to the invoice through the project tab or even be able to select an invoice in the bills tab and have it show all the bills attached to that invoice that need to be payed.

Navigation | Edit display picture for organisations in dropdown
It's very hard to tell multiple organizations apart, particularly if they have the same initials. Currently, Xero simply displays the organizations' initials. It also assigns a random color to each organization. It would help distinguish these greatly if the organization settings allowed me to upload an avatar for each organization. Xero's Demo Company already illustrates how this feature would look. Also, it would help edit the color Xero assigns so that the color could match each organization's branding.

Invoices: Option to only show item code in item column
Invoice setting: There should be the ability to remove the Item Name from the Item column when creating or editing invoices.
Currently it is not possible to show only the items code.9 votes -
NZ Payroll - Timesheets - Approve and view next option
When entering information on time sheets for employees, the ability to hit "next" to move onto the next employee once you have approved the time sheet rather than having to go back out to the main timesheet menu, find the appropriate timesheet on the drop down list & go back in to enter the timesheet for the next employee.

Notification | Email to bills - Send Failed upload email back to user who sent
It would be good if ''xero bills'' would send a failed upload notification message back to the email that it was sent from if the upload had failed. This would mean that you would know what upload had failed and issue that caused it to fail.

Sales invoices - Provide link to view unpaid invoices
email with 1-click link to list of unpaid/open invoices...
When invoices are sent from MYOB, the email includes a link to a webpage which individually lists all unpaid/open invoices. This a great feature especially for accountants when they get a statement and find they are missing an invoice (this link would also be a great option to add this link to statements!!).
Essential to not require signin or Xero to access
5 votesIs there a particular reason you'd specifically not want the user to login to Xero to view this information, Ben?
Currently as you may be aware, there's an option to include a link so that your customer can view outstanding invoices they have with you - See more here

VAT Return - adding detail to transaction
When reviewing a VAT return on the transactions by tax rate tab - there is no way to view the detail if the payment was through an invoice or bill even though you are able to see the detail if it is entered as a spend money or receive money transaction.
Being able to create bills and add attachments is extremely convenient, however, it is not when you are unable to see the detail you have provided when reviewing the VAT return.
Please look into this! Thank you.

Director Declaration - Auto adjust terminology (single vs multi)
In the Director's Declaration, it would be great if the report could recognise if there is a single Director or multiple, and then update the wording accordingly. (eg "The Directors have determined" or "The Director has determined".)

Reports - Show payee in GST Audit report
I think it would be useful, in the GST Audit Report, to show the Payee, rather than the reference. The reference is often not very informative.

AU Payroll - Reconciliation - Automatically recognise & match payroll transactions
When reconciling bank transactions,
It would be great if payroll transactions offered an automatic reconciliation in the same way that a batch payment of bills gives an auto option.12 votesHey community, thanks for your continued interest and feedback on this idea.
Right now, you can set up bank rules to code future payroll payments, or turn on Suggest previous entries so that Xero suggests a transaction each time.
If there's any future changes we will let you know on the thread here. Thanks

Sales Invoice - Ability to lock individual invoices and credit notes
Feature that only certain users can change invoices and credit notes after they have been approved.
Our client has had various invoices and credit notes changed after they have been approved and sent to customers.
4 votesTotally understand it won't suit all circumstances - With no current plans to add individual locks per invoice, perhaps the Invoice Only Draft role may be appropriate for some users and reduce the # of users in the org with the ability to edit approved invoices?
Another way to keep an eye on who which users are making changes to approved invoices would be to check the History & notes.

User Roles - Ability to assign default tracking options per user
Right now it’s not possible to have users automatically assigned to tracking categories.
We are investigating the tracking scenario, but it looks like additional work having to go into making sure each user remembers to add the relevant codes/tracking categories each time they raise a new quote/invoice/PO.
Is there a way to set this up so that Xero can automatically identify that a user belongs to a particular department (e.g. Sales / Accounts ) and the relevant tracking codes will be applied? Similar to how when we set up a new contact on Xero with particular defaults (re. currency or VAT etc) Xero automatically applies this to each new document.

Manual journals - Search for a journal by description or reference
Sorting Manual Journal Entries with a specific description or reference for easy search and find
4 votesThanks for the confirmation, Ann - I've just updated the idea title and categories to get this showing where others might be interested too.
Most recently we released a new Journal report with a lot more flexibility than the older version, and should help with finding a journal you're looking for.
You can search for a journal by filtering the Journal report by description 😁

Bills | List view - 'View' bulk approved bills in Awaiting payments
The view box that comes up when you approve bills is utterly useless, you can't do anything with them, I don't see the point. Before the recent changes, when you approved more than one bill, you could click on the view tab at the top of the page and be directed directly to these bills in awaiting payment, from that screen you could schedule them for payment. Now you have to approve them and then go to awaiting payment, search for the bills you just approved, make sure that the bills that come up in the search are indeed the ones you just approved, and then schedule them for payment. This new way of doing things inefficient and time-consuming.

Manual Journal - Ability to add a line anywhere
Currently there is no functionality to add a line anywhere in the Journal. The current system of dragging a line from the bottom is absolutely inconvenient especially where the Journal is very long and we want to add a few lines in the beginning of the Journal.
There should be one button 'insert a line function' (next to current curser location - meaning anywhere in the journal - Like F7 in SAGE).
Also, to move to below line, we have to use mouse. Can it not be possible to use arrow keys to move up and down?

UK Payroll: Time off balance - exclude Time off requests for the next year
It'll be good to be able to submit leave requests for the next year without affecting the current year's balance.
Towards the end of the year for the holiday allowance, employees start to plan their time off for the next year.
It'll be good for the system to recognise that the leave request is for the next year and only deduct off the balance once the new year starts and the balance is reset.
