Reporting - Better filtering in Reconciliation Reports
Where there is more than one bank account in an organization, it would be very useful to be able to filter out a particular Cat Code, separately , within each bank account. Currently one gets the entire Cat Code for the entire organization, showing all the bank accounts. Also, the column "Tax" remains blank when a bank account's reconciliations for the date selected are chosen. Please see my uploaded example of just one bank account's reconciliations, which contains every transaction, but no tax shown. The report shows "Gross" and "Net" to be equal, when in fact there are many with…

Bills - Categorising hire purchase or loans from aged payables
Having the option of when adding a purchase invoice which is for a hire purchase or a loan agreement, then Xero automatically removes the aged payable balance from the listing and posts to a Hire Purchase/Loan nominal code to avoid having HPs/Loans in the payable listings - I know that this is a feature that other accounting systems have, such as FreeAgent.
1 voteI know it's been some time since you first started this idea, Harry. There's been lots of discussions from other users on Xero Central about recording Hire purchase transactions, and if you're using Xero's Fixed Assets you'll find steps on how to do this in our article here.
There's no logic in Xero to automatically detect where a transactions is for hire purchase or a loan, however if you've set up a liability account that you can record these sort of transactions to, it's a simple process of choosing this account when recording the transaction in Xero.
Tbh we don't have any immediate plans for changing how this works in Xero for the short term.

Reporting - Restrict user access to the Edit Layout button in financial statements
We have spent a significant amount of time creating our financial statement templates using the report codes to ensure consistency and quality. Using Edit Layout can cause significant issues, including notes not matching the numbers in the balance sheet. As a result, we require the ability to remove access to the Edit Layout function for selected users.
This is a significant quality and risk issue.1 vote -

Advisor pack - regular Balance sheet (not summarised!)
Can we get a regular balance sheet in the Advisor (management) packs?
For some reason it provides a summarised version, with statutory lines only (eg Fixed Assets, Trade debtors etc) but not the TB account by account.
"More" even has an "Account codes" option, which doesn't work 😕
Come on Xero!
1 voteHi Yaakov, sorry we've not responded to your idea here sooner. Is it possible you have a customised layout applied to the Balance sheet? If you're still finding accounts that you'd expect to be shown not appearing in the Balance Sheet report of your Management report pack I'd recommend raising a case with our team of specialists via Xero Central where we can take a closer look into what's going on.
I'll shortly remove your post from idea here, but please do get in touch with our Xero Support team.

New invoicing - Integrate with Chrome Exporting Tables extension
In original invoicing the Chrome CopyTables extension worked to copy the data from the invoice into Excel for creating pivot tables; that feature doesn't work in new invoicing. We work with multiple vendors on a single project and it's significantly easier to place those orders by copying the tables from Xero into Excel and creating a pivot table. If the base code can't be adjusted to work with extensions like that than being able to export an invoice as a CSV would be helpful.
1 voteHi Jonathan, appreciate the feedback however this is something you'd need to contact Chrome about in relation to how their extension works and if any change can be made to apply to Xero's new invoicing

Manual Journal Entries - Add detailed history
Hi Team,
We would like to highlight that in India, it is a regulatory requirement to maintain an edit log (Audit Trail) based on the Triple ‘W’ Approach – When, Who, and What.
For example, if a journal entry is edited, the system should capture and display:
Previous values (amount, GL code, date, narration, etc.)
Since this is a regulatory requirement, could you please confirm if an enhancement can be made to comply with this, and share an estimated timeline?
Looking forward to your confirmation.

Bank Feed - BlueVine
Until recently I have been manually importing my monthly BlueVine Statements into Xero. This is a far from ideal approach since from a reporting and receivables standpoint, the data will always be stale and out of date. This leads to events like automated past due reminders going out for receivables that have actually been received and marked as paid.
I just recently learned of the bank feed integration with Yodlee, but the quality of the data provided by this service is heavily flawed by sending over incorrect analysis codes with transactions that cannot be removed or edited. While it does…

Bills - Improve Contact Matching for Bill Imports
The current bill import functionality relies primarily on contact names for matching, which creates two significant problems:
1. Unreliable Contact Matching
- Contact names can change over time
- Even minor differences (single character) result in creating new duplicate contacts
- No fallback to more reliable identifiers
2. Character Encoding Problems
- Special characters (e.g., apostrophes in names like "O'Connor") cause import failures
- This particularly affects common surnames and business names
Proposed Solution
Implement a hierarchical matching system for contacts during bill imports:
- First attempt: Match by account code
- Second attempt: Match by database ID
- Final fallback: Match by contact name

Bulk update account
Bulk update account for multiple line entries to allow for easier reanalysis of multiple line items within the software.
Include a feature to make it easier to change the account for multiple line entries at once through the supplier side to make it easier when bookkeeping to reanalyse multiple line items, rather than editing them one by one if they get reanalysed within the accounts.
I.e. for a client I originally posted all AXA payments as insurance, in the accounts they were reanalysed as other staff costs, at the moment I need to edit every single line item included in…1 voteHi Adam, we have a feature called Find and recode that will enable you to bulk update the account code for multiple lines at once. You could filter by the contact and then recode whatever lines of transactions as needed.
I'd recommend giving this a try in the demo co first and potentially working with your accountant before implementing this in your organisation. Have more of a read on this here.
