Batch Payment - Allow the "Reference" field in bill payments to overwrite the reference field in the batch payments file
Currently when creating a batch payment, the bank payment details fields (Particulars / code / reference) are all drawn from the payee's Xero contact details page.
payment of some bills require an invoice number in the bank payment reference field (rather than just an account number), and this also helps to track which invoices are paid for companies with frequent / varied billing + auditing bank transaction list records.
It would be great if either:
a) For a specific bill, Xero reads the invoice number and places this into the "reference field" within the bill payments screen (usually works) AND…3 votes -
Account Transactions Report: Sorting by account code and name
Hi Xero,
Thanks for creating the new 'Account Transaction Report' and adding the GST columns (and other transaction attributes) recently.....but there are a couple of significant issues that need to be sorted out before this is done and dusted.
These are:
- When sorting by 'Account (Name)' it returns the accounts in alphabetical order meaning P&L and Asset accounts are all mixed in together when doing a full GL report. I think it would be better to show the accounts in account number order (or alphabetically with the P&L and Balance sheet accounts separated)…1 voteOur team have been paying close attention to what our community have been asking and with today's release we've added the ability to sort and summarise by 'Account Code & Name' within the Account Transactions report.
You can use this option to view both the Account Code and Name, without losing the Opening Balances - Read up on the changes in our recent Blog.
Thanks for sharing on this with us here in community. Also noting some people here who'd like to view file attachments against transactions - While not possible atm, we do have an idea for this growing across here and you're welcome to join and use your vote from this idea on. 🙂(Sep 21) -
New invoicing | Overpayments - Account drop down (not up)
Thanks for fixing Over payments in the new system - works great! - 1 adjustment - the account menu pops - UP not Down, and bank accounts are off the top of the screen need a lot of scolling, can you change to normal pop-down please? (like the Date Paid menu)
2 votesThanks for the feedback, Stuart! Great to hear you're already using it. I've passed this back on to the team and will keep you updated if there's any planned change 🙂

Account Transactions Report - Ability to filter Source as 'Payroll Expense Journal'
When reviewing the 'Account Transactions' report in Xero there is an ability to filter by 'Source' type. However, only the 'Select all' option includes Payroll Expense Journals.
Considering I can filter around every other transaction type, I don't see why Payroll Expense Journals can't be added as a source option?
I know exporting to Excel works as a workaround - but considering every other source type is available adding one more shouldn't be difficult?
4 votesHi team, appreciate recent feedback when we recently merged this idea to this one. Understand that there's a bit of a difference in what's being asked between the two ideas, and we've unmerged to continue to track these ideas separately.
Being open there are no current plans to add a filter for Payroll expense journal to Source, however we will continue to get a sense of the interest in this and let you know if any progress is made, here.

Quotes - Ability to create multi-section quote
Multiple sections in a single quote with their own separate totals.
Purpose: when quoting on similar products with different pricing to present to a client, with their own separate totals. Currently, we have to send a separate quote to the same client which means they're receiving multiple emails from us.

AU Payroll - Multiple company addresses for payslips
We have multiple sites within our payroll company. Each site is in a different physical location. We have set each location up as a "Group" Each employee is set to a group. This way, we can sort and report on each location within our payroll entity.
However, we need the payslip to show the address of the location, rather than the address which is showing in the organisation settings. I understand that we can set up a different physical address, but is it possible to have a separate address for each group or location within this organisation?

Bank feed to account transactions match report
It would be good to have a bank feed to account transactions matching report which could show which bank feed entries have been reconciled to which account transactions without having to click into each entry. Something like the attached would be good to enable someone to spot mismatched bank entries

Chart of Accounts - Add cash on hand account type
I would like to add an "Account Type" called Cash on Hand that would sit as a heading on the Balance Sheet Just like Bank, Curent Assets etc does. We have various sources of this account type, and I would like to group them rather than them sitting in current assets as they currently do. They are not technically bank accounts, so don't want them under that heading.

Multicurrency- Batch payments of Foreign Currency Bills.
Batch payments of Foreign Currency Bills.
Dear Xero,
Please consider the feature of being able to batch up foreign currency Bills. We often pay multiple invoices in one go, having to reconcile and mark as paid 10 invoices is extremely time consuming.457 votesHi everyone, thank you for all the interest and we appreciate the needs for those using foreign currency to have more efficiency in how you process these bills for payment. Your feedback and votes here have not gone unnoticed - We have a team that have been doing some ground work in this space and at this time we have beta that we'd like to invite any UK customers to join and feedback to our team on the experience. If you'd like to be a part of this please fill in our form here and we'll be in touch.
We appreciate this idea is farther reaching than UK alone and while the beta is limited to this region for the time being, based on results we will look at expanding this to other places.
We'll keep you updated of further developments here.

Contacts - Display the "included in emails" tag for additional contacts with no name
Currently this badge is displayed for the additional people only when there's at least a first name associated with them, but often our "additional people" are only email addresses with no first/last names, an the only way to see whether the "included in emails" option has been enabled for them is to enter two nested edit modes (4 clicks total). This is really unnecessary. Just display the badge if the box has been checked!

Reporting - Option to include zero-balance accounts in the Trial Balance
The TB in Xero does not show lines that have a nil balance, however, you may need to drill down on a line that has a nil balance but may have have transactions (such as a control account). Could an option be added to the trial balance that would allow it to be displayed either with or without the nil balances?
33 votesHi community, we've just released the ability to show nil(zero) balance accounts in reports.
Along with the Trial Balance report, this selection is also available for the Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss (Income Statement), Statement of Cash Flows - Direct Method, Cash Summary, Movements in Equity, Blank report, and Report templates
You'll find you can turn this on as a toggle option from the More menu of the report itself, or there is a selection in Report preferences.
We appreciate you sharing your needs in this and joining in through Product Ideas.

Contacts - Add 'invoice description' to Supplier & Customer activity feed
I would like to ask if there is a possibility of having on suppliers' and customers' activity bar (please see attached screenshot, what I mean) and one more column - bill/invoice description? I used to work with QuickBooks, and they had this feature, which was very helpful.

Account Transactions report - 'File name' column that shows attachments from transaction line source document
By adding a 'Related Files Name' column option in Account Transactions reports people can then see which file is related to which transaction when exporting the report
3 votesThanks Lorenzo, appreciate the clarity. I've slightly updated the name of your idea here. No plans at present but we'll continue to track the interest through this thread.

Receivable Invoice Summary Report - Group by Contact group
We recently converted from Quickbooks Desktop and are trying to reproduce a "Sales by Customer" Report that sorts descending by gross invoice amount but groups the contacts within the contact group together. In Xero, I cannot figure out a way to accomplish this.

History and Notes report - Contact details
It would be really useful to see the contact name on the History and Notes report.
We use this report to track bank account changes but we also check newly added supplier bank account details. Seeing which contact each line relates to would help us group them and know if an 'Edited - Bank.....' relates to the same contact as a 'Created' so we don't need to go into each line5 votes
