  1. Overtime Report by employee in one easy to read report

    Managerment required a report to analyse overtime per employee over the course of a year - in one report. Only option in Xero is to run report employee by employee. (which would be incredibly time consuming)

    A simple report would be -

    - Rows would be list of employees
    - Columns would be all the overtime categories,

    - values would be sum of hours worked (or dollar value or both)
    - parametres would be between two given dates.

    I could find no such useful report in Xero - instead I…

  2. Xero defaults to full pay period hours for a new employee in the 1st payrun even if the employee start date (already entered into Xero) is part-way through a payrun. This doesn't make sense and is too easy to overpay a new employee in this way, if a manual override has not been done. Ideally, Xero would calculate the expected hours for a salaried employee based on the start date, but another idea would be to flash up a warning before finalising a payrun with employees that have a start date listed within the pay run period.

  3. Many super fund member numbers have special characters, eg, dash '-' or underscore '_'.
    At the moment, only numbers can be entered as the Member Number, which means any member numbers with special characters are deemed 'invalid' by Xero. This means we are unable to process super payments for the staff member.

  4. I have one employee that is paid the same amount every week, it would be great if I could set the pay run to post and file itself every week until further notice. I have an automatic bank payment set up so this would make it so easy - and more importantly it doesn't rely on me remembering.

    Hi community, while we appreciate you sharing this idea with us here, and understand the interest for being able to automate pay runs, we want to confirm this is not in our plans at present.

  5. ATO Category pay items of Directors Fees should be able to be the Ordinary Earnings Rate for employees. Currently only the ATO category Ordinary Time Earnings can be the Ordinary Earnings rate for employees.
    Whilst adding a zero Ordinary Earnings Rate solves the problem, it leaves the processing of pays open to input errors unnecessarily

  7. When you invite an employee to xero me for the purpose of submitting their timesheet, there is a drop down menu for the payrate. In this drop down, it shows 'Self' payrate (the payrate of the person submitting the time sheet) and also 'Team' payrate, a list of all the different payrates of the company. Why would you want an employee to be able to see the different payrates of the team?

    This seems like a flaw in the system to me and an employee should only be able to see the payrate that applies to them.

  8. I have employees with bank account numbers that include a letter. Xero won't accept this as valid. The bank won't accept it as a valid account without it.

    This means that I can't have the correct bank details in an employee's information, nor can I create a .aba file with the correct details for that employee, nor can I create a bill payment for a reimbursement for that employee, nor can I pay any bill for any other entity in the same position.

    I would like to be able to pay these people the same as I do everyone else.

  9. We have up to 100 employees at certain times of the year, and it would be easier to unselect employees we are not paying, than select employees we are paying. A "select all" option would be good.

  10. It will be very useful for reporting if we are able to change the layout of Timesheet Details from a week ending to fortnightly while also able to choose the start date and end date without the dates with zero hours.

  11. Can you please post up instructions on how business owners can setup novated leases for their employees and also identifying the process where the vehicle is FBT exempt or subject to FBT. We have had a few of our clients ask why Xero doesn't provide much guidance regarding this issue.

  12. According to different awards Time off in Lieu is suppose to expire in 6 months time if not used. Currently you can only bank and take Time off in Lieu. It would be great if Xero could automatically expire hours not used as this is a common practice in many employee Awards.

  13. We should be able to prepare and view future VAT returns where there are multiple unsubmitted returns. Ie. able to prepare multiple VAT returns for client approval at once. Currently, they have to be prepared and submitted before the next quarter's return is visible.

  14. One of my clients has hundreds of employees and at present when processing an unscheduled pay run, I have to keep clicking through the pages to find the employee. It would be so much quicker to be able to search for an employee within the Draft Payrun to then select to add.

  15. Customisation of ETP preferences to allow drop down menu for rate of pay as only lump sum payment is currently available. Example: terminated employee to receive 2 weeks pay in Lieu of notice. It would be helpful to have the option for Rate per Unit rather than a Fixed Amount only

When we eventually have to submit quarterly IT reports to HMRC, it will be very very helpful to be able to select which income accounts, and which expense accounts are include in the submission. Similar to being able to produce a custom profit and loss report. The reason being that some income or expense categories might be something that only gets included in the year end tax return calculations. My particular scenario as a sole trader is operating only one bank account, into which goes all my income, but out of which comes not only 100% business expenses, but also…

  17. Given that we are now can add employees into different tracking/groups on Xero.
    It works well when we post a pay run and it puts all transactions in Wages expenses, super expenses, PAYG W and super payable, but not Wages Payable. Seems odd that it doesn't.

  18. Leave types: why aren't these in alphabetical order on the leave request screen?
    I have numbered them so that they should appear in the order I want them, but they appear last. It's the same in Xero Me - I want the most used leave types to appear first, but the leave types appear in a random order.
    They are in alphabetical order on an employee's leave balance screen and when you assign a leave type
