AU Payroll - Leave Accrual - Correct decimal places to stop over accrual.
Xero uses 4 decimal places when calculating leave accruals. As it doesn't use the standard 5 decimal places, like most payroll software, the amount of leave entitlement that you record from this in the liability account in the balance sheet and P&L expense is more than it should be.
But the bigger problem this is causing is the fact that it is actually giving the employee more accrued leave than they are entitled to.
Even though this is a small amount against each payroll, this will build up very quickly over time and as more & more employees are added, which is not good, especially for small businesses (which is what Xero was initially built for, to support small to medium sized businesses).
Please can you correct this to comply with the government standards.

Export | Select which Sales Invoices/Bills to pay to Export to excel
To be able to only export a selection of sales invoices (or customers) and / or bills to pay (suppliers). Now you can only select on date or name via the search option. This will make it easier to send a selection of sales invoices and bills to pay in excel to customers or suppliers. (see file attached).
2 votesHi Marit, as shown when you've picked selected invoices and click the Export option only the one's you've selected will be exported. It sounds like you may want to search by a different term / field? If so can you share a bit more detail here to help when sharing your feedback with the team? Thanks

Chart of Accounts - Click on the padlock icon of a locked account to redirect you to bank rules.
For Advisors only: if a padlock is present on an account of the COA I would like the padlock to go to the bank rules so they can easily be redirected to the new account. For example, we set up Directors Loan accounts for each financial year. Each year we hae to add a new account too the COAs and reroute all of the rules. Painful!
1 voteHey Michele, thanks for your suggestion to make the padlock icon on the Chart of Accounts a direct link to the associated bank rules.
We're grateful for your engagement and for letting us know the changes that would improve your workflow. We can see how this would be a huge time-saver for Advisors, especially when managing year-end processes like creating new Director's Loan accounts and rerouting the old rules.
We've reviewed your idea, and it's now ready to gain support from other community members. Along with votes, other Advisors can now comment to share more detail about how this feature could make their own account management processes much less painful. 🙂

AU Payroll - Set Working Days for Part Time Employees
Currently, Xero does not have the feature to assign certain working days for part time employees. This becomes very frustrating when doing payroll.
For instance, an employee works Wednesday to Friday and when a public holidays falls on a Monday, Xero will allocate either all or some of the employees ordinary hours to this date incorrectly. This means we will have to manually adjust it each time.
A simple resolution would be to set up employees to certain working days, then the public holidays would assign correctly and there would be no need to manual adjustments.
453 votesThanks for your engagement with this idea to allow setting specific working days for part-time employees in AU Payroll. We understand wanting to handle these common working arrangements smoothly and accurately.
We know this is a key area for improvement and we'd like to look into this deeper in the long term, however it’s not in our roadmap just yet.
Right now you'll need to manually adjust leave requests.
We'll be sure to provide another update as we move forward with our investigations.

NZ Payroll - Remove Employer contribution field for employees on Salary Sacrifice
figures can be entered into both fields at the same time. It should not be this way. There is not enough explanation as to how the salary sacrifice options work
2 votesThanks for raising this idea about the setup of Salary Sacrifice in NZ Payroll.
We can certainly see how having both the salary sacrifice and employer contribution fields available for input at the same time could be confusing and potentially lead to errors. Your feedback on making the process and its rules clearer is valuable.
We're grateful for your engagement and letting us know the changes that matter to you. We've reviewed your idea and now it can gain support from other community members. Along with votes, others can now comment to share additional detail about how improving the workflow for salary sacrifice could improve their experience with Xero.

Reports - Edit spend money transactions from the Transaction Report
Would like a pop out screen to view and edit transactions from the transaction report without having to arrow back to the report after each view/edit. Currently it is extremely time consuming with appx 7 back clicks to return to the report after each individual view/edit.
1 voteThanks for your engagement and for sharing this idea about editing Spend Money transactions directly from the Transaction Report.
We've reviewed your suggestion, and it's now open to gain support from other community members. We can definitely see how having to click back and forth to the report after each edit is a time-consuming process.
Along with votes, others can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea for a more direct editing workflow could improve their experience with Xero. 🙂

Stripe - Improve ACH bank transfer to include current balances/overpayments
I am writing to bring your attention to some significant process issues related to payments on invoices that I've encountered after using the Stripe service for just one month with only two transactions. As a new user, I believe these issues warrant your immediate consideration to improve the service for all your customers.
ACH Payment Process Concerns
Overpayment IssuesOne of the main problems I've encountered is related to overpayments when using the ACH process to receive payments from our customers. The current system does not seem to account for outstanding balances beyond the single invoice being paid, which can lead to complications.
Example Scenario
Let me illustrate with an example:- A client is billed $250 monthly
- The payment link only allows for a $250 payment
- The client owes a total of $750 and wishes to pay the full amount
- When paying $750 through Stripe, only $250 is applied to the invoice
- The remaining $500 sits in the Stripe account, unallocated
This situation creates unnecessary complications and additional fees for both the business and the client.
Suggested Improvements
To address these issues and potentially save businesses significant amounts in fees, I propose the following enhancements:
- Include Current Balances: Display the current total balance owed within the invoice payment links, not just the single invoice amount.
- Allow Flexible Payment Amounts: Enable clients to pay any amount up to their total balance due, rather than limiting to a single invoice amount.
- Automatic Application of Funds: Develop a system to automatically apply excess payments to outstanding invoices in Xero, rather than leaving funds sitting in Stripe.
Current Workaround and Its Drawbacks
The current workaround involves creating a new invoice in Stripe to allocate the excess funds. However, this solution is far from ideal:
- It incurs additional fees (0.50% of the total amount)
- It results in duplicate invoicing (in both Xero and Stripe)
- It creates unnecessary administrative work
Impact on Businesses
This issue is likely affecting many of your clients, potentially costing them millions in unnecessary fees. It also creates inconvenience for both businesses and their customers, as they must now pay each individual invoice link separately to avoid these complications.
Call to Action
I strongly urge you to prioritize addressing this issue. Implementing a system that shows current total balances and allows for more flexible payment amounts would significantly improve the user experience and demonstrate that Xero is looking out for its clients' best interests.
In the meantime, I find myself in the unfortunate position of having to advise my clients to pay each individual invoice link separately, which is inconvenient and time-consuming for all parties involved.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to seeing improvements in this area that will benefit all Xero users.
Sincerely,

Purchase Orders - Expand column width to show longer PO numbers
The PO number space under Purchase Order View is limited, we cannot view our full PO number, refer to picture
Please extend the column, else Xero should restrict the maximum allowance length for PO number format.

Bank Reconciliation - Reconcile expense claim against multiple statement lines
When an expense claim is created via Xerome a 'spend money' transaction is created instead of a bill which means that if there is more than 1 payment against this claim I cannot opt to split the transaction when reconciling the payments. There needs to either be an option to split or the expense should create a bill rather than a 'spend money' to enable easier reconcilliation

Projects - Improve the add time workflow for employees with limited access.
For time tracking against projects it would be really useful if employees with limited access could add time in the same way an admin can via a drop down (rather than clicking in to the project first - which is more time-consuming)
1 voteHi Lucy, thanks for your engagement and for highlighting this improvement for the time tracking workflow in Xero Projects.
We've reviewed your idea to allow employees with limited access to add time via a dropdown menu, similar to the admin experience. It's now open to gain support from other community members. We can definitely see how making this process quicker and more direct would be a huge help for team members.
