Ability to attached files to a pay run and employees
924 votesHi community, thanks for the strong support in being able to attach files within Xero Payroll, both for employee records and pay runs. We really appreciate you sharing the value and efficiency this could create for you when working with Xero. It's evident that being able to store important documents like licenses, sick notes, and onboarding papers directly in Xero would remove the need for external storing systems or manual processes.
We acknowledge it's not the end goal but wanted to highlight the use of apps, as some have shared like Dext, to help bridge this gap in the meantime.
I want to assure you that enabling attachments in payroll is part of our long-term intentions. However, to deliver this functionality effectively and reliably, we first need to develop some foundational elements within our payroll platform.
We understand your frustration with the timeline and the limited updates, and we're committed to improving our communication on these important ideas. We’ll be sure to provide further updates work progresses.

UK Payroll - Opening Balance for Attachment of Earning Orders
I have an employee with an Attachment of Earnings Order (AEO) and whilst I have been able to set up the amount to be deducted on the payslip template each month, it appears that it is not possible to enter an opening balance on Xero for this deduction. I don't know if it is usual to show a YTD figure for AEOs - certainly Student loans have a YTD figure on the payslip and I would imagine that it will feature on the P60, but I can't see how Xero is going to produce this correctly without allowing me to enter an opening balance? I switched from HMRC Basic Tools half way through the year because I could not present the AEO on the payslip but it is not the complete solution.

Chart of accounts | Print - Include descriptions
Can Xero please bring back the function enabling the details to be printed with the Chart of Accounts. It was a feature when we converted to Xero, but is no longer.

User Roles - Full remittance advice access for Invoice Only Approve and Pay user
For the 'approve and pay' user the remittance function is limited. They should have the functionality to send remittances on a batch payment and also be able to access the remittance button at a later date. An admin member of staff needs access to the full remittance capability in order to complete their duties fully.

Bills to pay - Consistent font size
New bills screen - bugs/design that need to be fixed:
- when filtering the currency column disappears
- the planned date font size is smaller than the due date font size meaning I can't zoom the screen
- the from column isn't wide enough so most suppliers' names are wrapping, meaning each transaction takes up 2 lines and results in fewer transactions on one screen and more scrolling, whereas there is wasted space between the planned date, paid and due date columns which could be made narrower68 votes -
Stripe - connecting to other currency accounts
Xero Bank Feed connections: Would it be possible to connect payment services for Stripe to more than two bank accounts, I can currently setup GBP (primary currency) and USD but can't setup for EUR or CAD. Our Stripe payments are collected in the currency and paid out to our bank accounts in these currencies but the payment service settings will only allow these two currencies to connect to the GBP payments which mean a manual process to transfer between accounts in Xero and ''mark as reconciled'' . The USD payments work great so it would be good to be able to have for others or at least for the EUR . Thank you

Billable expenses - Add items to Invoice in the same order as the source Bill
I have a client that sometimes has 20+ inventory items on a bill, with similar description, but sizes different. They enter bill in a logical sequential order, but when you add them to the invoice, all to same invoice, its not split between different customers, the items are in a different order with no order, not even items code. IT frustrating client in the process to reorder the items it taking much longer

Quotes - Ability to archive quotes
I am trying to archive legacy quotes - I have followed your instructions but when I highlight the selected quotes, there is no option button for archive?
We want our quotes section to a more true reflection of the current business activity but at the same time do not want to have to delete legacy quotes. There is a need to archive similar to Inventory feature.

AU Payroll - Superannuation to create a Bill with a list of the employees paid
i would like to that when you have made a superannuation payment through Xero, that it creates a bill, with a screen shot or a list of employees that has been paid. will make it easier for when you have an audit.

It would be great if you can display taxable pay for period and taxable pay YTD on payslips. This will help employees and employers.

Reports - Ability to add CIS Verification Date.
It would be useful if Xero could show when a subcontractor is verified with HMRC, due to the two year verification rule.
If the date of verification could be shown on a report that would be great, then it would be easy to identify if a re-verification is required.

Permanent inventory item on a specific invoice template
For example, we are an automotive repair shop
If I was to have a specific invoice template for 'vehicle servicing' and would like every service invoice to come up with Sundries and Freight automaticallyThis would be a great way to save time as well as making sure everything is being charged out correctly

While we don’t have immediate work planned for adding the ability to enable permanent items within an invoice template, as mentioned in my last update an option for now would be to create a 'dummy' contact that you could create invoices for and leave in a draft status. When you want to use that invoice as the template you can then use the copy to option.
On a separate note, our teams are doing some more discovery to better understand our invoicing users and we wanted to engage you all here.
As we continue to plan further developments within invoicing, our product teams would like to better understand our invoicing users for future improvements. If you'd be interested in giving your input, we’d appreciate your feedback and have a survey here ✍️that will just take a few mins to fill in.

Invoices - Option to identify which invoices are not assigned to a Project
When using Xero Projects, we can assigned Bills and Sales Invoices to a Project.
However, it is possible to create a Sales Invoice and easily overlook assigning it to a Project.
There is no way to identify Sales Invoices which have not been assigned to a Project. (A recent update provided a feature to do this for Bills but not Sales invoices)

Project Reporting - Sort by invoice/bill date, rather than assigned date
Currently when you filter all project reports by a date range it pulls the report based on when you assigned the invoice/expense to a project. Please update the report to pull by the invoice/bill date similarly to all other reports in Xero. This is crucial so you can compare your project reports to all other financial statements to confirm accuracy.

Reporting - Include Draft invoices and Purchase Orders in the Sales by Item report
It would be great to have an option to run a sales report by item which includes draft invoices, delivery dockets, and purchase orders as well.
For example, I tried to run a sales report on qty of each product sold for the financial year to date and realised this information was inaccurate as we had sold a significant qty as draft invoices (using draft invoicing in lieu of delivery docket functionality), these products were not included in the sales report.

Reconciliation - Filter for money in or out
Can you please add a filter to the payments page so we can filter them to show just the incoming payments. It would make it a lot easier to reconcile the payments if we don't have to scroll through all the outgoing payments as well.

New Invoicing | Send - Placeholder for reference
The new invoicing doesn`t transfer the "Reference" field information to the email area and I have to retype this every time. The previous version just transferred it all. Now this means more work, having to input the reference three times in the process
Also there is no confirmation anywhere that the files I attach are being sent. If you PREVIEW it does not show the files anywhere ?4 votes
